모듈러 건축에서의 안전사고 원인 분석 및 저감방안 - 제작 및 시공단계 작업을 중심으로 - (Cause Analysis and Reduction of Safety Accident in Modular Construction - Focusing on Manufacturing and Construction Process -)

  • Modular Construction is regarded as having enhanced safety compared to traditional construction since most of modular manufacturing process in plants. Unlike general consideration for safety in modular construction, several industrial accident data and studies have pointed out that the accident rate of modular construction is not enough less as much as the practitioners have expected. It means that there is a clear need for improvement of safety management in modular construction. To enhance safety, it is necessary to identify the type and cause of accident through accident cases in order to prevent safety accident in advance. In this consideration, this study analyzed the types and causes of accidents through root cause analysis procedure with accident cases of U.S. OSHA. The classification was carried out in the order of process type, accident type and cause of accident. By following the classification criteria in this study, the causal factor was derived and the root cause map was created. Based on the analysis results, cross-analysis was conducted and it is shown that activity characteristics of modular construction are related to safety accidents. In addition, prevention methods to reduce safety accident by major activity are presented in terms of organizational, educational and technical aspects. This study contributes that the result can be used as the basic safety management in the manufacturing and construction process of modular construction.

  • The reduction of product development time is exposed to the competitive pressure due to shortened product-and production technology lifecycles as well as increasingly dynamic markets. Specially in automobile companies, that is of major importance for designing die because it is a bottleneck process in the development of a new car. To improve this conventional design process, this paper describes how to design it fast and flexibly. This was done by a modular method using standard template and a feature and knowledge based design method along the design process.

  • This study presents a new design method of courses and programs for interdisciplinary or customized education in university organizations. The concept of modular design in manufacturing industry is employed for the development of new courses and programs design in university education. Diverse customization methods in service processes or service delivery channels in education are excluded in this study to focus on the research purposes. The results of this study can contribute to the development of a new education system for customized or interdisciplinary education in universities.

RAMANUJAN CONTINUED FRACTIONS OF ORDER EIGHTEEN

  • As an analogy of the Rogers-Ramanujan continued fraction, we define a Ramanujan continued fraction of order eighteen. There are essentially three Ramanujan continued fractions of order eighteen, and we study them using the theory of modular functions. First, we prove that they are modular functions and find the relations with the Ramanujan cubic continued fraction C(𝜏). We can then obtain that their values are algebraic numbers. Finally, we evaluate them at some imaginary quadratic quantities.

  • Although the mathematics education process in AI education is a very important issue, little cases are reported in developing effective methods on AI and mathematics education at the university level. The universities cover all fields of mathematics in their curriculums, but they lack in connecting and applying the math knowledge to AI in an efficient manner. Students are hardly interested in taking many math courses and it gets worse for the students in humanities, social sciences and arts. But university education is very slow in adapting to rapidly changing new technologies in the real world. AI is a technology that is changing the paradigm of the century, so every one should be familiar with this technology but it requires fundamental math knowledge. It is not fair for the students to study all math subjects and ride on the AI train. We recognize that three key elements, SW knowledge, mathematical knowledge, and domain knowledge, are required in applying AI technology to the real world problems. This study proposes a modular approach of studying mathematics knowledge while connecting the math to different domain problems using AI techniques. We also show a modular curriculum that is developed for using math for AI-driven autonomous driving.

Strategic analysis on sizing of flooding valve for successful accident management of small modular reactor

  • In contrast to all-time flooded small modular reactor (SMR) systems, an in-kind flooding safety system (FSS) has been proposed as a passive safety system applicable to small modular reactors (SMRs) that adopt a metal containment vessel (MCV). Under transient conditions, the FSS can provide emergency cooling to dry reactor cavities and sustain long-term coolability using re-acquired evaporated steam in the reactor building on demand. When designing an FSS, the effect of the flooding flow area is vital as it affects the overall accident sequence and safety. Therefore, in this study, a MELCOR model of a reference SMR is developed and numerical analysis is performed under postulated accident scenarios. Without flooding, the MCV pressure of the reactor module exceeds the design pressure before core damage. To prevent core damage, an emergency flooding strategy is devised using various flow path parameters and requirements to ensure an adequate emergency coolant supply before the core damage is investigated. The results indicate that a flow area exceeding 0.02 m2 is required in the FSS to prevent MCV overpressure and core damage. This study is the first to report a strategic analysis for appropriately sizing an FSS flooding valve applicable to innovative SMRs.

유닛 모듈러 기둥 매입형 기초 접합부에 대한 실험 연구 (Test Result on Embedded Steel Column-to-Foundation Connection for Modular Unit Structural System)

  • 골조 유닛 모듈러 구조 형식은 기 제작된 유닛 구조물을 적층하여 건물을 보다 간편히 건설을 할 수 있어 중, 고층 건물에 적용이 확대되고 있다. 이러한 유닛 모듈러 구조 형식은 외력에 의하여 발생하는 축력과 휨모멘트를 지반에 잘 전달시켜야 함으로 각각의 유닛구조물은 기초와 적절히 연결되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 형태의 매입형 유닛-기초 접합부를 제안하였으며, 제안된 접합부의 성능을 일련의 실험 연구를 통하여 평가하였다. 총 5개의 실물 크기의 실험체를 제작하여 실험을 수행하였으며, 매입 길이와 엔드 플레이트와 같은 제안된 유닛-기초 접합부의 휨거동에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 인자들의 영향을 살펴보았다. 실험결과, 모든 실험체에서 강성은 최소한 반강접의 강성을 상회하는 것으로 나타났으며, 기둥의 매입길이는 본 연구에서 수행한 실험체에서 약 200mm가 적절한 것으로 파악되었다.

EPC 모듈러 프로젝트의 원가·공정 통합연계관리 지침서 개발 (Development of Integrated Cost-Schedule Management Guidelines for EPC Modular Projects)

  • 플랜트 산업의 대형화, 복잡화 추세에 따라 플랜트 프로젝트의 수행효율을 극대화하기 위해 모듈러 플랜트의 적용비율이 높아지고 있다. 모듈러 프로젝트의 성공적인 수행을 위해서는 사업수행 전 단계에 걸친 사업수행 전략 수립 및 이행이 필수적이다. 그러나 국내 건설업체는 플랜트 사업관리기술의 정립이나 적용이 미비한 실정으로 특히 사업관리 기술의 핵심요소로써 원가와 공정의 통합관리 방법을 정립하고 체계화 하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구는 모듈러 플랜트 프로젝트의 원가와 공정을 통합관리하기 위한 방법론 및 지침서 개발을 목적으로 수행되었다. 모듈러 공법의 일반적인 사항, 원가·공정관리의 업무절차에 대한 이론적 고찰을 토대로 원가관리 방법론, 공정관리 방법론을 개발하고 원가·공정을 모듈단위로 통합관리 할 수 있는 방법론과 지침서를 개발하였다. 모듈러 플랜트 프로젝트에 특화된 원가·공정 통합관리 방법론 및 지침서의 적용을 통해 프로젝트 관리의 효율성을 높일 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

모듈형 컨베이어 랙 기반 물류 이송 로봇의 설계 및 물류 센터 내 경로계획 (Design of Logistics Transportation Robot Based on Modular Conveyor Rack and Path Planning in Logistics Center)

  • In this paper, a design method for a logistics transportation robot based on a modular conveyor rack and path planning considering the environment of a logistics center is proposed. The driving part of the logistics transportation robot is designed and the working method of lifter for the transportation function is explained. The design of the modular conveyor rack is also described and an algorithm for a logistics transportation robot using a modular conveyor rack is suggested. The $A^*$ algorithm is improved by using the concept of rotation cost and the initial state of the transportation robot's characteristics. We experimented with a four-step transportation algorithm for a logistics transportation robot using a modular conveyor rack and showed that the proposed method can be used successfully in a logistics center. In addition, we verified the effectiveness of the improved $A^*$ algorithm considering the rotation cost and the initial state of the robot.
