This paper describes a design of an elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) processor that supports five pseudo-random curves and five Koblitz curves over binary field defined by the NIST standard. The ECC processor adopts the Lopez-Dahab projective coordinate system so that scalar multiplication is computed with modular multiplier and XORs. A word-based Montgomery multiplier of $32-b{\times}32-b$ was designed to implement ECCs of various key lengths using fixed-size hardware. The hardware operation of the ECC processor was verified by FPGA implementation. The ECC processor synthesized using a 0.18-um CMOS cell library occupies 10,674 gate equivalents (GEs) and 9 Kbits RAM at 100 MHz, and the estimated maximum clock frequency is 154 MHz.

This paper presents a MSB-first digit-serial systolic array for computing modular multiplication of A(x)B(x) mod G(x) in finite fields $GF(2^m)$. From the MSB-first multiplication algorithm in $GF(2^m)$, we obtain a new data dependence graph and design an efficient digit-serial systolic multiplier. For circuit synthesis, we obtain VHDL code for multiplier, If input data come in continuously, the implemented multiplier can produce multiplication results at a rate of one every [m/L] clock cycles, where L is the selected digit size. The analysis results show that the proposed architecture leads to a reduction of computational delay time and it has much more simple structure than existing digit-serial systolic multiplier. Furthermore, since the propose architecture has the features of unidirectional data flow and regularity, it shows good extension characteristics with respect to m and L.

As listed as one of the most important requirements for Post-Quantum Cryptography standardization process by National Institute of Standards and Technology, the resistance to various side-channel attacks is considered very critical in deploying cryptosystems in practice. In fact, cryptosystems can easily be broken by side-channel attacks, even though they are considered to be secure in the mathematical point of view. The timing attack(TA) and the simple power analysis attack(SPA) are such side-channel attack methods which can reveal sensitive information by analyzing the timing behavior or the power consumption pattern of cryptographic operations. Thus, appropriate measures against such attacks must carefully be considered in the early stage of cryptosystem's implementation process. The Montgomery multiplier is a commonly used and classical gadget in implementing big-number-based cryptosystems including RSA and ECC. And, as recently proposed as an alternative of building blocks for implementing post quantum cryptography such as lattice-based cryptography, the big-number multiplier including the Montgomery multiplier still plays a role in modern cryptography. However, in spite of its effectiveness and wide-adoption, the multiplier is known to be vulnerable to TA and SPA. And this paper proposes a new countermeasure for the Montgomery multiplier against TA and SPA. Briefly speaking, the new measure first represents a multiplication operand without 0 digits, so the resulting multiplication operation behaves in a very regular manner. Also, the new algorithm removes the extra final reduction (which is intrinsic to the modular multiplication) to make the resulting multiplier more timing-independent. Consequently, the resulting multiplier operates in constant time so that it totally removes any TA and SPA vulnerabilities. Since the proposed method can process multi bits at a time, implementers can also trade-off the performance with the resource usage to get desirable implementation characteristics.

In this paper, we implemented an Elliptic Curve Cryptography(ECC) processor for Digital Transmission Contents Protection (DTCP), which is a standard for protecting various digital contents in the network. Unlikely to other applications, DTCP uses ECC algorithm which is defined over GF(p), where p is a 160-bit prime integer. The core arithmetic operation of ECC is a scalar multiplication, and it involves large amount of very long integer modular multiplications and additions. In this paper, the modular multiplier was designed using the well-known Montgomery algorithm which was implemented with CSA(Carry-save Adder) and 4-level CLA(Carry-lookahead Adder). Our new ECC processor has been synthesized using Samsung 0.18 m CMOS standard cell library, and the maximum operation frequency was estimated 98 MHz, with the size about 65,000 gates. The resulting performance was 29.6 kbps, that is, it took 5.4 msec to process a 160-bit data frame. We assure that this performance is enough to be used for digital signature, encryption and decryption, and key exchanges in real time environments.
In this paper proposes a new bit-parallel structure for a multiplier over GF((Pn)m), with k-nm. Mastrovito Multiplier, Karatsuba-ofman algorithm are applied to the multiplication of polynomials over GF(2n). This operation has a complexity of order O(k log p3) under certain constrains regardig k. A complete set of primitive field polynomials for composite fields is provided which perform modulo reduction with low complexity. As a result, multiplier for fields GF(Pk) with low gate counts and low delays are constructed. The architectures are highly modular and thus well suited for VLSI implementation.
This paper proposes an exponentiation method with Frobenius mappings. The main target is an exponentiation in an extension field. This idea can be applied for scalar multiplication of a rational point of an elliptic curve defined over an extension field. The proposed method is closely related to so-called interleaving exponentiation. Unlike interleaving exponentiation methods, it can carry out several exponentiations of the same base at once. This happens in some pairing-based applications. The efficiency of using Frobenius mappings for exponentiation in an extension field was well demonstrated by Avanzi and Mihailescu. Their exponentiation method efficiently decreases the number of multiplications by inversely using many Frobenius mappings. Compared to their method, although the number of multiplications needed for the proposed method increases about 20%, the number of Frobenius mappings becomes small. The proposed method is efficient for cases in which Frobenius mapping cannot be carried out quickly.
Thompson series is a Hauptmodul for a genus zero group which lies between $\Gamma$o(N) and its normalizer in PSL2(R) ([1]). We construct explicit ring class fields over an imaginary quadratic field K from the Thompson series $T_g$($\alpha$) (Theorem 4), which would be an extension of [3], Theorem 3.7.5 (2) by using the Shimura theory and the standard results of complex multiplication. Also we construct various class fields over K, over a CM-field K (${\zeta}N + {\zeta}_N^{-1}$), and over a field K (${\zeta}N$). Furthermore, we find an explicit formula for the conjugates of Tg ($\alpha$) to calculate its minimal polynomial where $\alpha$ (${\in}{\eta}$) is the quotient of a basis of an integral ideal in K.
In this paper, a new structure of 1024-bit high-speed RSA cryptosystem has been proposed and implemented in hardware to increase the operation speed and enhance the variable-length operation in the plain text. The proposed algorithm applied a radix-4 Booth algorithm and CSA(Carry Save Adder) to the Montgomery algorithm for modular multiplication As the results from implementation, the clock period was approached to one delay of a full adder and the operation speed was 150MHz. The total amount of hardware was about 195k gates. The cryptosystem operates as the effective length of the inputted modulus number, which makes variable length encryption rather than the fixed-length one. Therefore, a high-speed variable-length RSA cryptosystem could be implemented.
In this paper, We represent a low complexity of parallel canonical basis multiplier for GF( q$^{n}$ ), ( q> 2). The Mastrovito multiplier is investigated and applied to multiplication in GF(q$^{n}$ ), GF(q$^{n}$ ) is different with GF(2$^{n}$ ), when MVL is applied to finite field. If q is larger than 2, inverse should be considered. Optimized irreducible polynomial can reduce number of operation. In this paper we describe a method for choosing optimized irreducible polynomial and modularizing recursive polynomial operation. A optimized irreducible polynomial is provided which perform modulo reduction with low complexity. As a result, multiplier for fields GF(q$^{n}$ ) with low gate counts. and low delays are constructed. The architectures are highly modular and thus well suited for VLSI implementation.

Hybrid 가산기는 기존의 CLA(Carry Look-ahad Adder)와 CSA(Carry Select Adder)알고리듬을 혼합한 구조를 기본으로 하고 있다.
