모바일 광대역 서비스의 가입자 효용 연구 (A study on the subscribers' utility of mobile broadband services by CVM)

  • 본 연구는 최근 모바일 빅뱅의 핵심으로 거론되는 모바일 광대역 데이터 서비스에 대하여 소비자가 느끼는 효용가치를 추정하고자 하며, 이를 위해 차세대 이동통신 잠재 이용자들을 대상으로 조건부가치 평가법(CVM : Contingent Valuation Method)을 적용한 설문조사를 수행하였다. 그 결과 표본의 평균값을 이용하여 모바일 광대역 데이터 서비스에 대한 월간 사용 지불의사액의 조건부 평균값은 33,283원(/월)으로 나타났다. 아울러 이를 2010년 2분기 기준의 음성 ARPU 24,490원을 고려하면, 매월 평균적으로 이용자들이 느끼는 차세대 이동통신의 데이터 서비스에 대한 효용 증대의 기대치는 음성보다 훨씬 높음을 예상해 볼 수 있다. 그리고, WTP에 영향을 주는 변수에 대하여 분석하였는데, 이러한 추정값과 분석은 기술과 서비스의 발전에 따라 빠르게 변화하는 이동통신 시장에서 이용자의 니즈에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공하게 될 것이다.

  • 소셜 네트워크는 관심사가 유사한 사람을 찾거나 정보를 교환하는 주요한 수단으로 최근 각광받고 있다. 특히 페이스북(Facebook) 이나 싸이월드 등과 같이 인터넷상에서 제공되던 소셜 네트워크 서비스는 이제 휴대폰 영역으로 확장되고 있다. 휴대폰은 개인이 향상 소유하고 다니기 때문에 개인정보의 취득이 쉬우며, 센서 기술의 발달로 다양한 종류의 데이터를 함께 수집할 수 있다. 따라서 이를 모바일 소셜 네트워크 서비스에 활용하면 기존의 인터넷기반 소셜 네트워크 서비스와의 차별화를 이룰 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 확률추론 모델인 베이지안 네트워크를 이용하여 사용자와 주변 사람들간의 친밀도나 관계 등의 모바일 소셜 컨텍스투를 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 이는 모바일 소셜 네트워크 서비스에 중요한 정보로 활용 가능하며, 본 논문에서는 실제 수집한 데이터를 기반으로 그 가능성을 검증하였다.

모바일 서비스에 기반한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 사용자 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting User Acceptance of Ubiquitous Computing based on Mobile Services)

  • The growth in the use of ubiquitous computing based on mobile services as an enabler to conduct business more effectively has been phenomenal. Technology acceptance model (TAM) has been applied in different contexts to examine a wide range of information technologies (IT). As more and more companies are finding ways to utilize ubiquitous computing based on mobile services, an important issue is to understand what factors will impact the decisions of consumers in adopting the services. Based on TAM with three additional groups of external factors, i.e., service-related factors (ubiquitous access, context awareness) and technology-related factors (perceived security risk, network connectivity) that are theoretically justified as having influence on both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use which are additionally considered, a research model for the investigated technology acceptance was developed and empirically examined, using responses from more than intended users of ubiquitous computing based on mobile services. The specific purposes of this study are as follows. Firstly, this study is to identify service beliefs considering unique characteristics for ubiquitous services such as perceived ubiquitous access and perceived context awareness. Secondly, this study is to investigate network characteristics beliefs such as perceived security and perceived connectivity. Thirdly, this paper investigates the relationship among variables such as ubiquitous characteristics, network characteristics, behavioral beliefs, and intention to use ubiquitous web services. This study uses a structural equation model to test the research model. The major results of this study are as follows. Firstly, ubiquitous access has a influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Context awareness has an influence on perceived usefulness. Secondly, User familiarity has an influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, and intention to use. User innovativeness has an influence on perceived ease of use. Thirdly, perceived security risk has an influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Network connectivity has an influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Fourth, there exist differential effects among factors in structural model among information, transaction, and entertainment services.

  • 최근 들어 모바일 서비스가 급증하면서 다양한 형태의 모바일 데이터 과금 방식이 등장하였다. 그중 네트워크 사업자인 통신사업자가 특정 앱/서비스에 대해 데이터 사용료를 받지 않고 자유롭게 사용할 수 있게 하는 제로레이팅 방식이 급증하고 있다. 이러한 통신사업자의 비과금행위에 따라 플랫폼 사업자는 자연스럽게 사업적 위기와 기회에 노출되어 있다. 플랫폼 사업자의 입장에서는 위기와 기회를 감안한 전략설정이 필요한 상황임에도 제로레이팅 및 플랫폼에 대해 명확하게 정의하고 분류한 연구조차 부족한 실정이다. 더욱이 제로레이팅으로 인해 플랫폼사업자에게 미치게 될 영향을 분석한 연구는 전무하다. 본 연구는 네트워크사업자의 제로레이팅에 따른 플랫폼사업자의 전략적 대응방안을 마련하기 위해 사업기회 및 위기를 분석하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 결과는 연구자들로 하여금 제로레이팅과 플랫폼에 대한 이해를 증진시키고, 플랫폼사업자의 입장에서 사업전략을 수립하는데 주요한 참고자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

청소년과 부모가 경험한 청소년의 이동전화 서비스 소비자문제와 관련요인 (Youth and Their Parents' Experiences of Young Consumers' Problem in Mobile Phone Service and Related Variables)

  • A study on what kind of problems young consumers experience in buying and using mobile phone services with a comprehensive and consumers oriented perspective is needed. Through this acknowledgement, we investigated (i) the degree of consumer problems that young consumers experience in purchasing and using mobile phone services, and (ii) the related variables that affect experiences of this consumer problem. The parents of the teenagers were also included in the survey because they experience the same problems young consumers' experience in buying and using mobile phone services. Data were gathered through an internet survey (www.embrain.com) and a total of 699 samples from 350 parents and 349 youths using mobile phone services were analysed. The results are as follows. First, the teenagers and parents' experience level of young consumers' problems were generally high experiencing similar kinds of problems. Second, parents experienced more young consumers' problems than the teenagers in buying and using mobile phone services, especially in misuse and abuse of the phones. Third, among the teenagers, the monthly usage fee music or game usage, the number of changes in mobile phone service operators, the number of replacement mobile phones and the gender had a significant effect on consumers' problems of mobile phone services. Among the parents, the monthly usage fee, music or game usage, confirmation of the bill, and the gender of their child were significant consumer problems. Based on results of our survey the direction of consumer policy and education was suggested for teenagers and their parents.

MobPrice: Dynamic Data Pricing for Mobile Communication

  • In mobile communication, mobile services [MSs] (e.g., phone calls, short/multimedia messages, and Internet data) incur a cost to both mobile users (MUs) and mobile service providers (MSPs). The proposed model MobPrice consists of dynamic data pricing schemes for mobile communication in order to achieve optimal usage of MSs at minimal prices. MobPrice inspires MUs to subscribe MSs with flexibility of data sharing and intra-peer exchanges, thereby reducing overall cost. The main contributions of MobPrice are three-fold. First, it proposes a novel k-level data-pricing (kDP) scheme for MSs. Second, it extends the kDP scheme with the notion of service-sharing-based pricing schemes to a collaborative peer-to-peer data-pricing (pDP) scheme and a cluster-based data-pricing (cDP) scheme to incorporate the notion of 'cluster' (made up of two or more MUs) in mobile communication. Third, our performance study shows that the proposed schemes are indeed effective in maximizing MS subscriptions and minimizing MS's price/user.

성건장 이동클리닉 사업에 대한 청소년의 보건교육 및 상담 만족도 (Health Education and Counseling for Adolescents at Mobile Sexual Health Clinics)

  • Objectives: This study was performed in order to evaluate the quality of health services provided to the adolescents at mobile health clinics and to improve the services for them, and to figure out knowledge level of adolescents on sex, birth control methods and artificial abortion, and the effect of the knowledge levels those items on sexual behavior. The data obtained will be utilized for sex health education program in the future. Methodology: A total of 2,021 adolescents who visited mobile sexual health clinics in Seoul, Inchon, Busan, Daejon, Cheonbuk, Kwangju and Daegu were surveyed in November 2007. The items surveyed were level of satisfaction about the services provided by mobile sexual health clinics, personal opinions and experience of artificial abortion, knowledge level about birth control, sexual experience and pregnancy. The above mentioned items were analyzed by general characteristics such as religion and geographical area. Results: The study subjects were generally satisfied with the services of mobile sexual health clinics. But they were not satisfied with the information about birth control methods provided by the clinics. The subjects who had better knowledge about sex were more satisfied with the services provided by the clinics. And the subjects who had knowledge about birth control methods but did not have birth control experience were also more satisfied with the services of clinics. The subjects who reported that artificial abortion should be allowed were also more satisfied with the services of the clinics. Experiences of sex, pregnancy, and artificial abortion were not correlated to satisfaction of the clinic services. Conclusions: The mobile sexual health clinics have to continues to provide sex health education and other sex related health services to adolescents. More practical information about birth control methods should be provided to the adolescents by the clinics based on the study results. Active preventive measures for unwanted pregnancy should be provided to the adolescents by the clinics.

Design of gCRM system integrated with LBS

  • The success of gCRM depends on the availability of adequate, real-time data about customers' location and the provision of diverse value-added services utilizing it. In the existing gCRM systems, however, it seems that the positional precision of customers' location is very low, and further that the services based on real-time location data are not provided. In order to overcome these weaknesses and extend the limited scope of gCRM, we suggest a new design of gCRM system integrated with LBS. We also describe in some detail the system prototype for such an integration.

Meeting Real Challenges in Eliciting Security Attributes for Mobile Application Development

  • There has been a rapid growth in the development of mobile application resulting from its wide usage for online transaction, data storage and exchange of information. However, an important issue that has been overlooked is the lack of emphasis on the security issues at the early stage of the development. In fact, security issues have been kept until the later stage of the implementation of mobile apps. Requirements engineers frequently ignore and incorrectly elicit security related requirements at the early stage of mobile application development. This scenario has led to the failure of developing secure and safe mobile application based on the needs of the users. As such, this paper intends to provide further understanding of the real challenges in extracting security attributes for mobile application faced by novice requirements engineers. For this purpose, two experiments on eliciting security attributes requirements of textual requirements scenario were conducted. The performance related to the correctness and time taken to elicit the security attributes were measured and recorded. It was found that the process of eliciting correct security attributes for mobile application requires effort, knowledge and skills. The findings indicate that an automated tool for correct elicitation security attributes requirement could help to overcome the challenges in eliciting security attributes requirements, especially among novice requirements engineers.

  • In recent years, one of the main trends of GIS is to construct and provide realistic and human-perceptible information of spatial object using video data. The rapid progress of wireless mobile technology makes the multimedia source using video data possible on mobile environment. Instead of traditional map-based service, video-based location services, that provide video data as location context, would be of interest in connection with various mobile applications requiring location service, such as telematics, LBS, etc. In this paper, we present the location service system using geo-referenced video on wireless mobile environment.
