Magnetic properties by exchange biased perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in [Pd(0.8 nm)/Co(0.8 nm)]$_{5}$/FeMn(15 nm) multilayers deposited by dc magnetron sputtering system are investigated. As inserted Pd layer of interface between [Pd/Co] multilayer and FeMn film, the Hex of perpendicular anisotropy was improved from 127 Oe to 145 Oe. But result of an experiment by thermal stability, the Hex of the case that an inserted layer was inserted in decreased from low 20$0^{\circ}C$ in about 5$0^{\circ}C$ more if not inserted. If Ta was a buffer layer, the experiment results along material of buffer layer, the H$_{ex}$ obtained the largest 127 Oe. And if Pd was a buffer layer, H$_{ex}$ obtained the largest 169 Oe. Also, the Hc in buffer layer of Ta and Pd obtained the largest 203 Oe and 453 Oe, respectively.

Annealing effects of exchange bias fields ($H_{2ex}$(top), $H_{lex}$ (bottom)) on composite type NiFe/[FeMn/Mn]$_{80}$/NiFe multilayers have been studied. Three samples with ultra-thin Mn inserted layers on glass/Ta(50 $\AA$)/NiFe(150 $\AA$)/[F $e_{53}$M $n_{47}$(1.25 $\AA$)/Mn(0 $\AA$, 0.11 $\AA$, 0.3 $\AA$)]$_{80}$/NiFe(90 $\AA$)/Ta(50 $\AA$) were prepared by ion beam sputtering. The average x-ray diffraction peak ratios NiFe(111) of FeMn (111) fcc textures for the Mn inserted total thicknesses of 0 $\AA$, 9 $\AA$, and 24 $\AA$ were about 0.65, 0.90, and 1.5, respectively. For the sample without Mn inserted layer, the $H_{2ex}$ of 260 Oe up to 300 $^{\circ}C$ disappeared at 350 $^{\circ}C$. For two multilayer samples with ultra-thin Mn layers of 0.11 $\AA$ and 0.3 $\AA$, the $H_{2exs}$ of 310 Oe and 180 Oe up to 300 $^{\circ}C$ endured of 215 Oe and 180 Oe at 350 $^{\circ}C$, respectively. The $H_{ex}$ (bottom)s of three samples decreased from 100 Oe to 70 Oe up to 250 $^{\circ}C$, while these values increased beyond 300 $^{\circ}C$. This observation can be attributed to less diffusive path of Mn atoms in bottom NiFe than top NiFe layer. The top and bottom coercive fields slightly varied about 5 Oe∼10 Oe. From these results, we could obtain the enhancement of exchange coupling intensity and thermal stability by an ultra-thin Mn inserted layer on NiFe/[FeMn/Mn]$_{80}$/NiFe Multilayers.

We fabricated highly flexible Mn-doped $SnO_2$ (MTO)/Ag/MTO/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)/MTO multilayer transparent conducting films. To reduce refractive-index mismatching of the MTO/Ag/MTO/polyethylene terephthalate (PET), index-matching layers were inserted between the oxide-metal-oxide-structured films and the PET substrate. The PDMS layer was deposited by spin-coating after adjusting the mixing ratio of PDMS and hexane. We investigated the effects of the index-matching layer on the color and reflectance differences with different PDMS dilution ratios. As the dilution ratio increased from 1:100 to 1:130, the color difference increased slightly, while the reflectance difference decreased from 0.62 to 0.32. The MTO/Ag/MTO/PDMS/MTO film showed a transmittance of 87.18~87.68% at 550 nm. The highest value of the Haacke figure of merit was $47.54{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}^{-1}$ for the dilution ratio of 1:130.
The exchange bias field ($H_{EX}$) and the coercivity ($H_C$) variation and change depending on the thickness of intermediately super-soft magnetic NiFeCuMo layer with different thickness of the bottom NiFe layer were investigated. The $H_{EX}$ of triple pinned NiFe(4 nm)/NiFeCuMo($t_{NiFeCuMo}$= 1 nm)/NiFe(4 nm)/FeMn multilayer has the maximum value more less than one of single pinned NiFe(8 nm)/FeMn layer. If NiFeCuMo layer is inserted each into between the pinned and free NiFe layers, we can be used as GMR-SV device for a bio-sensor that has improved magnetic sensitivity.

One problem in giant magnetoresistance(GMR) spin valves and magnetic tunneling junctions(MTJ) exchange biased by Mn-based antiferromagnets is the Mn diffusion into the ferromagnetic layer and other layers upon annealing.$^{1-3}$ It seems that Mn diffusion that may occur during annealing has a key role in the exchange biasing. We have fabricated multilayers inserting the nanolayer(NL) between antiferromagnet and ferromagent using ion-beam deposition system to study the diffusion effect for the exchange bias. (omitted)

The magnetic and thermal properties of NiFe/IrMn/CoFe with Mn additions have been studied. As grown CoFe pinned-layers with IrMn-Mn have dominantly larger exchange biasing field( $H_{ex}$) and blocking temperature( $T_{b}$) than when pure I $r_{22}$M $n_{78}$ is used. The magnetic properties improve, $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$ improve with 77-78 vol% Mn, but drop considerably with more Mn additions, losing magnetic properties of theb NiFe/IrMn/CoFe with addition 0.6 vol % Mn. The average x-ray diffraction peak ratios fcc (111)CoFe of (111)IrM $n_3$ textures for the Mn inserted total vol of 75, 77, and 79 vol% were about 1.4, 0.8, and 0.6, respectively. For the sample without Mn inserted layer, the $H_{ex}$ between I $r_{22}$M $n_{78}$ and CoFe layers is almost nothing. For two multilayer as-grown samples with ultra-thin Mn layers of 77 vol % and 79 vol %, the $H_{ex}$s are 250 Oe and 150 Oe, respectively. In case of IrMn with 77.5 vol% Mn, the $H_{ex}$ was 444 Oe up to 30$0^{\circ}C$ endured of 363 Oe at 40$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Mn additions improve the magnetic properties and thermal stabilities of NiFe/IrMn/CoFe. Those increase the $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$. In applications where higher $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$ are accept, proper concentrations of Mn can be used.n can be used.be used.
We observe the change of coercivity and exchange bias, depending on inserting material and thickness in a [Pd(0.6 nm)/$Co(0.2)]_5$/ FeMn(10) multilayer structure with perpendicular anisotropy. When 0.78 and 1.28 nm thick NiFe substitutes for Co in a $[Pd(0.6 nm)Co(0.2)]_4$/Pd(0.6)/NiFe(t)/FeMn(10) structure, we obtain the exchange bias of 360 Oe. In addition, when $Co_8Fe_2$ and $Co_9Fe_1$ are inserted for Co/FeMn interface, we obtain the exchange bias of 380 nm for a 0.68 nm thick $Co_8Fe_2$ and 580 Oe for a 0.52 nm thick $Co_9Fe_1$.

The capability for application of rf magnetron sputterred and post annealed BaTiO$_{3}$ thin films in dielectrics AC drived TFELD(thin film electroluminescent device) was investigated. The dielectric constant of the thin films slightly increased up to about 25 with increase fothe post annealing temperature in the range of 210$^{\circ}C$-480$^{\circ}C$. The dielectric loss was about 0.005-0.01 except for the high frequency range above 100kHz and nearly independent on post annealing temperature. The BaTiO$_{3}$ thin film used for TFELD was annealed at 480.deg. C and Si$_{3}$N$_{4}$ thin film was inserted between BaTiO$_{3}$, lower dielecrics and ZnS:Mn, phosphor layer for stable driving of the device and for fear of interdiffusion. Regardless of the frequency of the applied sine wave voltage, the threshold voltage of the prepared TFELD was 65volt and saturated brightness was about 3000cd/m$^{2}$ at 130volt(2kHz sine wave), 65volt above V$_{TH}$.

We investigated the effect of different spin direction of anti-ferromagnetic layer on the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic layer in Fe-NiO and Fe-CoO bi-layer systems. For Fe-NiO system, we prepared the clean MgO(001) surface half-covered with 20 nm Ag films as a substrate for magnetic layers. Then we grew NiO wedge layers on the substrate, and added 8 monolayer(ML) Fe layers on the wedge layer. We examined magnetic properties of the bi-layer system using the surface magnetic optical Kerr effect(SMOKE) and X-ray magnetic linear dichroism(XMLD). From SMOKE measurement we observed the coercivity enhancement due to the set-up of anti-ferromagnetic order of NiO films in both of the Fe/NiO/MgO(001) and Fe/NiO/Ag/MgO(001) system. The most remarkable results in our observation is that the coercivity enhancement of Fe/NiO/Ag/MgO(001) is much larger than that of Fe/NiO/MgO(001). XMLD experiments confirmed the out-of-plane spin direction of NiO layers in Fe/NiO/MgO(001) and in-plane spin-direction of NiO layers in Fe/NiO/Ag/MgO(001), and we concluded that the origin of large enhancement of coercivity is due to the strong parallel coupling between Fe layers and NiO layers. We also confirmed that this strong parallel coupling maintained across the thin Ag layer inserted between Fe and NiO layers. For Fe-CoO system, we prepared Fe/CoO/Ag(001) and Fe/CoO/MnO(001) systems and observed much larger coercivity enhancement in Fe/CoO/Ag(001).
