  • With the rapid development of Internet of Things sensor devices and big data processing techniques, Internet of Things sensor-based information systems have been applied in various industries. Depending on the industry in which the information systems are applied, the accuracy of the information derived can affect the industry's efficiency and safety. Therefore, security techniques that protect sensing data from security attacks and enable information systems to derive accurate information are essential. In this paper, we examine security threats targeting each processing step of an Internet of Things sensor-based information system and propose security mechanisms for each security threat. Furthermore, we present an Internet of Things sensor-based information system structure that is robust to security attacks by integrating the proposed security mechanisms. In the proposed system, by applying lightweight security techniques such as a lightweight encryption algorithm and obfuscation-based data validation, security can be secured with minimal processing delay even in low-power and low-performance IoT sensor devices. Finally, we demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system by implementing and performance evaluating each security mechanism.

  • Fuji apples were sliced and dipped in distilled water, 1% (w/v) ascorbic acid and 1% (w/v) oxalic acid. After minimal processing, the slices were packaged with three films which have different gas transmission rate and stored in cold room$(0-2^{\circ}C)$. The visual quality, gas composition, pH, texture, soluble solids content and titratable acidity were determined. The most deteriorative effects on quality were produced by browning of flesh. Ascorbic acid inhibited the development of browning and extended storage life from 7 days of control to 14 days at $0-2^{\circ}C$. Minimally processed Fuji apple treated with ascorbic acid and P640 film showed exhausting of oxygen in the packaging after 14 days. It showed only a slight reduction of pH from 3.73 to 3.72. The visual quality, gas composition, pH, texture, soluble solids content, titratable acidity were slightly changed, indicating that higher quality was maintained during storage. Ascorbic acid inhibited the development of browning and extended storage life of fresh-cut Fuji apple.

  • In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a large-scale qualitative spatial reasoner, which can derive new qualitative spatial knowledge representing both topological and directional relationships between two arbitrary spatial objects in efficient way using Aparch Spark SQL. Apache Spark SQL is well known as a distributed parallel programming environment which provides both efficient join operations and query processing functions over a variety of data in Hadoop cluster computer systems. In our spatial reasoner, the overall reasoning process is divided into 6 jobs such as knowledge encoding, inverse reasoning, equal reasoning, transitive reasoning, relation refining, knowledge decoding, and then the execution order over the reasoning jobs is determined in consideration of both logical causal relationships and computational efficiency. The knowledge encoding job reduces the size of knowledge base to reason over by transforming the input knowledge of XML/RDF form into one of more precise form. Repeat of the transitive reasoning job and the relation refining job usually consumes most of computational time and storage for the overall reasoning process. In order to improve the jobs, our reasoner finds out the minimal disjunctive relations for qualitative spatial reasoning, and then, based upon them, it not only reduces the composition table to be used for the transitive reasoning job, but also optimizes the relation refining job. Through experiments using a large-scale benchmarking spatial knowledge base, the proposed reasoner showed high performance and scalability.

  • Raw mulberry (Morus spp.) juice was prepared by minimal processing using several filter aids, fining agents, and clarifying enzymes, followed by filtration, centrifugation, and membrane filtration. Control of browning in minimally processed mulberry juices by anti-browning agents, sodium hydrosulfite, L-ascorbic acid, citric acid, and NaCl, was investigated using quantitative measurements of color changes during storage. Clarification of mulberry juice was improved by adding several filter aids, fining agents, and enzymes, followed by filtration and centrifugation. Several fining agents, including chitosan, chitin, PVPP, gelatin, and casein at a concentration of 1%, and combination of ultrafiltration and centrifugation at 8,000 rpm were not suitable for clarification of juice owing to strong adsorption of anthocyanin pigment. Combination of $0.01\;{\mu}m$ membrane filtration and centrifugation at 8,000 rpm was effective for clarification of mulberry juice. Browning of minimally processed mulberry juice was inhibited significantly by adding 200 ppm sodium hydrosulfite, and 0.1% L-ascorbic acid (L-AsA) and 0,1% citric acid (CA) also showed considerable browning inhibition. Combination of L-AsA and CA, which was moderately effective for browning inhibition of juice, may be useful as a sulfite alternative for mulberry juice. Optimum sugar ($^{\circ}Brix$)/acid ratio and commercial sterilization of minimally processed mulberry juice were approximately 40 and 10 min at $85-90^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • People read in different settings, including when music is playing in the background. Whether the presence of music facilitates, hinders, or does not affect language processing is an on-going debate in the current literature. The present study used ERPs to examine the influence of music on orthographic, semantic, and syntactic processing by inspecting P2, N400, and P600 responses, respectively. A total of 60 participants judged the correctness of visually presented sentences while listening to music with lyrics, music without lyrics, or in silence. The results showed that the P2 and P600 effects were larger in the silent condition than in the music-with-lyrics condition, while there were no N400 differences among the conditions. This indicates that only lyrical music interferes with orthographic and syntactic language processing, while it has no, or minimal, effect on semantic processing. The results are discussed in relation to the background music interference effect.

  • MAC(Multiply and ACcumulate) is the core operation of multimedia data processing. Because MAC units implemented on traditional DSP units or embedded processors have latency of three cycles and cannot operate on multiple data simultaneously, then, performances are seriously limited. Many high end general purpose microprocessors have SIMD MAC unit as a functional unit. But these high end MAC units must support pipeline structure for various operation modes and high clock frequency, which makes control logic complex and increases chip area. In this paper, a 64bit SIMD MAC unit for embedded processors is designed. It is implemented to have a latency of one clock cycle to remove pipeline control logics and a minimal area overhead for SIMD support is added to existing Booth multipliers.

  • Diagnostic problem solving is a major application area of knowledge-based systems research. However, most of the current approaches, both heuristic and model-based, are designed to identify single faults, and do not generalize easily to multiple fault diagnosis without exhibiting exponential behavior in the amount of computation required. In this paper, we employ a decomposition approach based on system configuration to generate an efficient algorithm for multiple fault diagnosis. The basic idea of the algorithm is to reduce the inherent combinatorial explosion that occurs in generating multiple faults by partitioning the circuit into groups that correspond to output measurement points. Rules are multiple faults by partitioning the circuit into groups that correspond to output measurement points. rules are developed for combining candidates from individual groups, and forming consistent sets of minimal candidates.

  • JBIG2, as the next generation standard for binary image compression, must be designed in hardware modules for the JBIG2 FAX to be implemented in an embedded equipment. This paper proposes a hardware module of the high-speed Huffman coder for JBIG2. The Huffman coder of JBIG2 uses selectively 15 Huffman tables. As the Huffman coder is designed to use minimal data and have an efficient memory usage, high speed processing is possible. The designed Huffman coder is ported to Virtex-4 FPGA and co-operating with a software modules on the embedded development board using Microblaze core. The designed IP was successfully verified using the simulation function test and hardware-software co-operating test. Experimental results shows the processing time is 10 times faster than that of software only on embedded system, because of hardware design using an efficient memory usage.

  • A study on the processing method of anchovy hydrolysate paste (AHP) was carried out to improve the sensory quality of salted and fermented fish. Homogenized whole anchovy was hydrolyzed using commercial pretenses, Complex enzyme-2000 (CE, Pacific Chem. Co.) and Alcalase (AL, Novo), in a cylindrical vessel with 4 baffle plates and 6-bladed turbine impeller. Optimal pH, temperature, and enzyme concentration for the hydrolysis with CE and AL were $7.0,\;52^{\circ}C,\;7\%$, and $8.0,\;60^{\circ}C,\;6\%$, respectively. The rational amount of water for homogenization, agitation speed, and hydrolyzing time were $100\%\;(w/w)$, 100 rpm, and 210 min, respectively. To make the hydrolysate to paste type, it was effective to mix the additives, such as starch, soybean protein, agar, and carrageenan gum to the hydrolysate 5 min before the end of boiling at $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Minimal NaCl concentration for long-term preservation was $15\%$, and this could be reduced to $12\%$ by adding $5\%$ of KCl. yield of the AHP based on the total nitrogen content was $94.6\~97.0\%,\;and\;86.0\~89.2\%$, of the nitrogen was amino nitrogen. Salinity, pH and histamine content of the AHP prepared with $12\%$ NaCl and $5\%$ KCl were $9.3\~9.9\%,\;6.1\~6.2$, and below 13 mg/100 g, respectively. The AHP was stable at $26{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ for 60 days on bacterial growth, and addition of $0.05\%$ of rosemary (Herbalox) extract was effective to inhibit the lipid oxidation of the AHP during storage.
