폐니켈-카드뮴 전지 침출액으로부터 아연 분말을 이용한 카드뮴의 치환반응에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Cementation Reaction of Cadmium by Zinc Powders from Leaching Solution of Waste Nickel-Cadmium Batteries)

  • 폐전자제품 내에 포함된 유가금속 또는 유해금속자원의 재활용 기술 중 치환법(Cementation)은 상대적으로 높은 기전력을 나타내는 금속을 첨가함으로써 용액 내의 금속이온을 침전시키는 전기화학적 석출 방법으로 금속이온의 회수기술 중 경제적이며 효율적인 재활용 기술 중 하나로 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 폐니켈-카드뮴 전지 내에 포함된 카드뮴 회수의 최적 조건을 선정하기 위하여 0.1 M 황산카드뮴($CdSO_4$) 용액과 Ni-Cd 침출액에서 pH, 온도, 아연의 입자크기, 아연의 투입량을 변수로 하여 실험을 진행하였다. 니켈과 카드뮴이 포함된 용액에서 아연의 입자크기와 온도가 중요한 변수로 작용하였으며, 700 um의 아연을 이용하여 $25^{\circ}C$의 온도를 나타내는 용액에서 카드뮴 대비 2.6배의 화학당량 비의 아연을 투입할 때 최적의 카드뮴의 회수율 및 니켈의 회수율을 최소화할 수 있는 조건임을 확인하였다.

Optimization of the Pt Nanoparticle Size and Calcination Temperature for Enhanced Sensing Performance of Pt-Decorated In2O3 Nanorods

  • The surface-to-volume ratio of one-dimensional (1D) semiconductor metal-oxide sensors is an important factor for achieving good gas sensing properties because it offers a wide response area. To exploit this effect, in this study, we determined the optimal calcination temperature to maximize the specific surface area and thereby the sensitivity of the sensor. The $In_2O_3$ nanorods were synthesized by using vapor-liquid-solid growth of $In_2O_3$ powders and were decorated with the Pt nanoparticles by using a sol-gel method. Subsequently, the Pt nanoparticle-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods were calcined at different temperatures to determine the optimal calcination temperature. The $NO_2$ gas sensing properties of five different samples (pristine uncalcined $In_2O_3$ nanorods, Pt-decorated uncalcined $In_2O_3$ nanorods, and Pt-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods calcined at 400, 600, and $800^{\circ}C$) were determined and compared. The Pt-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ showed the highest surface-to-volume ratio and the strongest response to $NO_2$ gas. Moreover, these nanorods showed the shortest response/recovery times toward $NO_2$. These enhanced sensing properties are attributed to a combination of increased surface-to-volume ratio (achieved through the optimal calcination) and increased electrical/chemical sensitization (provided by the noble-metal decoration).

Crystal Growth of InP by VGF Method using Auqrtz Ampoule Characterization

  • InP, III-V binary compound semiconductor, single crystal was grown by VGF (vertical gradient freeze) method using quartz ampoule and its electrical optical properties were investigated. Phosphorous powders were put in the bottom of quartz ampoule and Indium metal changed in conical quartz crucible hat was attached at the upper side position inside the quartz ampoule. It was vacuous under the pressure of 10-5 Torr and sealed up. In metal in the quartz crucible was melted at 1070$^{\circ}C$ and phophorous sublimated at 450$^{\circ}C$, there after it was diffused in In melt and so InP composition was formed. By cooling the InP composition melt (2$^{\circ}C$∼5$^{\circ}C$/hr of cooling rate) in range of 1070$^{\circ}C$∼900$^{\circ}C$, InP crystal was grown. the grown InP single crystals were investigated by X-ray analysis and polarized optical microscopy. Electrical properties of them were measured by Van der Pauw method. At the cooling rate of 2$^{\circ}C$/hr, its direction was (111), quality of the ingot ws better upper side of the ingot than lower. It was found that the InP crystals were n-type semiconductor and the carrier concentration, electron mobility and relative resistivity were 1015∼1016/㎤, 2x103∼3x104$\textrm{cm}^2$/Vsec and 2x10-1∼2x10-3Ωcm in the range of 150K∼300K, respectively.

스테인리스강을 사용한 분말 적층 용융 방식의 금속 3차원 프린터에서 제작된 물체의 최소 선폭 측정 (Measurement of minimum line width of an object fabricated by metal 3D printer using powder bed fusion type with stainless steal powder)

  • 금속 3D 프린팅 기술은 레이저 빔의 초점에 금속분말을 주입하는 방식에 따라 대표적으로 PBF(Powder Bed Fusion)방식과 DED(Direct Energy Deposition)방식으로 나뉜다. DED 방식은 금속 분말 도포와 동시에 레이저를 조사하여 3차원 구조물을 제작하는 금속 3D 프린팅 기술이고, PBF 방식은 일정 높이로 3차원 그래픽을 슬라이싱 한 후 한 층씩 금속 분말을 적층하여 레이저를 이용해 3차원 구조물을 제조하는 방식이다. DED 방식을 사용하면 레이저 클래딩, 금속 용접 등에는 강점을 가지지만 3D 형상을 제작할 경우 밀도가 낮아지는 문제점이 발생한다. DED 방식에서의 구조체 밀도 문제를 해결하기 위해 PBF 방식을 도입하면 상대적으로 밀도가 높은 3차원 구조물을 제작하는데 용이하다. 본 논문에서는 갈바노 스캐너와 광섬유로 전송되는 Nd:YAG 레이저 빔을 이용한 약 $30{\mu}m$ 크기의 스테인리스 강 분말을 이용하는 PBF 방식의 3차원 프린터를 제작하고, 이를 이용하여 얇은 금속 구조물을 제작하였다. 또한 레이저의 조사 횟수, 출력, 초점 크기, 스캐닝 속도에 따른 선폭의 최적조건을 찾았으며, 그 결과 최적 조건은 레이저 조사 횟수 2회, 출력 30 W, 초점 크기 $28.7{\mu}m$, 스캐닝 속도 200 mm/s에서 최소 선폭은 약 $85.3{\mu}m$로 측정되었다.

Cyclopolymerization of 1,6-Heptadiyne by Molybdenum and Tungsten-Based Catalysts

  • The polymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was carried out by molybdenum and tungsten-based transition metal catalysts. This polymerization by MoCl$\_$5/ alone proceeded well to give a quantitative yield of polymer. The effect of monomer to catalyst mole ratio (M/C), initial monomer concentration ([M]$\_$0/), and the polymerization temperature for the cyclopolymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was studied and discussed. The polymerization solution exhibited red color even after 30 min of polymerization time. The resulting polymers were mostly brown powders and mostly insoluble in any organic solvents although the polymerization proceeded in homogeneous manner in some cases. The polymer structure was characterized by various instrumental methods to have the conjugated polymer backbone structure carrying cyclic recurring unit. The thermal and morphological properties of the resulting poly(1,6-heptadiyne) were also discussed.

목걸이 제작에 있어서 Art Clay Silver활용에 관한 연구 (Application of Art Clay Silver in Manufacturing Necklace)

  • 세계적으로 대부분의 금속 공예가들은 장신구 작가라고 불려질 만큼 다른 공예 분야에 비해 산업적인 성격이 강하고 현대에 와서는 기능성 소재와 생산기술을 활용하는 경향이 강하다. 본 연구에서는 장신구 중 하나인 목걸이를 테마로 문헌을 조사하고 Art Clay Silver에 대한 재료적 특성을 분석하였다. 이때 조형체의 수축률은 약 0.24%이었다. 이렇게 상온에서 건조시 수축이 일어나는 현상은 결합제와 분말을 연결해주는 수분의 증발을 생각할 수 있다. Art Clay Silver를 소성 후 EDX를 이용하여 면 분석한 결과 은만이 100% 분석되었다. 이는 상온에서 분말과 함께 존재한 바인더가 높은 소성 온도에서 모두 연소되어 증기와 연기로 사라진 것으로 사료된다. 이러한 특성을 수공예 목걸이 제작 시 어렵고 섬세한 작업에 일부 활용함으로서 보다 자연스럽고 아름다움이 표현된 작품을 보여주고자 하였다.

PTA법에 의한 스텔라이트 12 합금 육성층의 특성에 미치는 전류의 영향 (The Effect of Current on Characteristics of Stellite 12 Alloy Overlayer by PTA Process)

  • Stellite 12 alloy-powders were overlaid on 410 stainless steel valve seat using plasma transferred arc(PTA) process. Variation of the microstructure, hardness, wear and corrosion of overlaid deposit with current change was investigated. The deposit showed hypoeutectic microstructure, which was consisted of primary cobalt dendrite and networked $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides. As current increased, the amount of eutectic carbide decreased and its dendritic secondary arm spacing increased. Hardness of the deposit was decreased with increase of current. Stress relief heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for two hours resulted in slight increase of hardness in the deposit and showed uniform hardness distribution in base metal without any hardened layer in HAZ. Specific wear decreased with increase of sliding distance. The deposit of high hardness with a lot of eutectic carbide showed relatively low specific wear. Initial corrosion current density of the deposit in 0.1N sulfuric acid was lower than those of 410 stainless steel, and showed a little variation with PTA current.

  • The material removal mechanism of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) process has been studied for several decades. However, understanding of the material removal mechanism is still a difficult problem because the mechanism involves complicated physical phenomena including plasma. Especially, for a micro-EDM process, due to the influence of the debris that is generated during the machining process, quantitative modeling of EDM becomes more complex. To understand better the effects of the debris in the micro-EDM process experimentally, a new approach has been introduced in this study. Using a specially designed workpiece holder, the debris generated during the EDM with various process conditions has been collected. Then, using a simulated environment using micro-sized metal powders, the influence of the debris during the single EDM discharge has been observed. The effects of EDM process parameters on the debris size and product quality are discussed.

  • A joining of dissimilar metal combination faces significant problems such as poor strength and cracking associated with brittle intermetallic compounds(IMC) formed. An application of laser allows low heat input; leading to less dilution and smaller heat affected zone. The $CO_2$ laser overlay was conducted on an AC2B alloy with feeding Fe-based powders. The overlay area was significantly influenced from the travel velocity rather than the powder feeding rate. The interface between the overlay and substrate consisted of the hard and brittle IMC($FeAl_3,\;Fe_3Al,\;Fe_2Al_5$), which initiating and propagating the crack. The reciprocating test for the slide wear was conducted on a multi-pass overlay experiment. Comparing with the multi-pass overlay with no overlap, the overlay with 50% overlap showed better wear resistance.

FeSiCr에 Fe50Ni가 첨가된 폴리머 복합 시트의 전자파 흡수 특성 (Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing Properties of FeSiCr and Fe50Ni Flaky Powder-Polymer Composite Sheet)

  • In this paper, we studied the magnetic composite sheets for electromagnetic wave noise absorber of quasi-microwave band by using soft magnetic FeSiCr and Fe50Ni flakes with the thickness of about $1{\mu}m$ and polymer. The magnetic hysteresis curve including saturation magnetization and residual magnetization and the complex permeability characteristics of the composite sheets were investigated to clarify the mixing effect on electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The saturation magnetization was decreased about 10% while the residual magnetization was increased about 15% and the real parts of complex permeability at below 500 MHz were increased 0.6~4 while those values at above 500 MHz were decreased 0.4~2.5 according to the change of contents of FeSiCr and Fe50Ni powders. As a result, the reflection loss can be moved to the lower frequency from 2~3 GHz to 1~1.5 GHz as the contents of Fe50Ni flaky powder into FeSiCr flaky powder was increased up to 50%.
