  • This paper aims to develope a new algorithm to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional E.L.D system based on the B-Constants and Penalty-Factors scheme. The main features of this paper are that the Variabiable Decoupled Method usually employed in the Load-Flow studies is introduced to the E.L.D. algorithm developed by Sasson, using the Powell's Nonlinear Programming Scheme. Besides this, other minor refinements are made to reduce memory spaces and computing time. Case studies show that the method suggested here has the remarkable advantages of computing efficiency and memory requirements over Sasson's.

  • Memory hierarchy is a useful mechanism for improving the memory access speed and making the program space larger by layering the memories and separating program spaces from memory spaces. However, it needs at least two memory accesses for each data reference : a TLB(Translation Lookaside Buffer) access for the address translation and a data cache access for the desired data. If the cache size increases to the multiplication of page size and the cache associativity, it is difficult to access the TLB with the cache in parallel, thereby making longer the critical timing path in the processor. To achieve such parallel accesses, we present the hybrid mapped TLB which combines a direct mapped TLB with a very small fully-associative mapped TLB. The former can reduce the TLB access time. while the latter removes the conflict misses from the former. The trace-driven simulation shows that under given workloads the proposed TLB is effective even when a fully-associative mapped TLB with only four entries is added because the effects of its increased misses are offset by its speed benefits.

  • In database application developments, data coexists in memory and disk spaces. To manipulate the memory data, the general programing languages are used and to manipulate the disk data, SQL is used. In particular, the procedural languages for the memory manipulation are difficult to create and manage than declarative languages such as SQL. Thus, this paper shows that a particular structure of memory data, tree structured, can be manipulated by SQL. Most of all, the model data of the user interfaces can be represented by a tree structure and thus, it can be processed by SQL except non set computations. The non set computations could be done by helper classes. The SQL memory data manipulation is more suited to the database application developments which have few complex computations.

  • Spatial perception and spatial structure that focus on psychological effects produce a real force through the medium of space that can control human actions, even their psychology. The job of understanding the characteristics and effects of architectural spaces that recognize the relationship between architecture and human beings, including the psychological dimension, is an alternative search for quality spaces that can increase the mutual relationship between space and human beings. This paper introduces two propositions called "space" and "psychology" in order to discover a meta-pattern connecting space and the human mind with the aim of systematizing that internal network and establishing a new architectural system concerning space and human beings. This paper also proposes a method of accessing physical spaces that can affect psychological states through a conceptual substitution called "extension," with the aim of discovering the implications inherent in such extensive relationships and proposing a methodology of organizing psychological spaces based on the characteristics of that extensive connection. The means of extensively connecting psychological spaces were classified into the three categories of memory system, sensory system, and motor system, and their corresponding extensive connection characteristics called "simultaneous relativity," "non-mediated immediacy," and "purification process" were also derived. These characteristics accelerate the changes in psychological intensity and function as principles that organize psychological space.

  • Myths and architectural spaces are cultural products symbolizing ideologies and objects respectively. Myth has the structure and the contents of a unique view of the world that reflects thoughts and representations of the nationalities. This study is about 'the spaces of the memory' adapted by the mythic tradition among many aspects of the Japanese tradition. The process of this study is illustrated as follows: At first, it mentions the concept of Gilbert Durand's mythic imaginaries and prototype with the method on how the myth is applied to the architectural spaces in the cultural context. Secondly, It clarifies basic meaning arrangement of the Japanese traditional spaces related to the myth. It shows sourceful 'prototipical system' that lies in the relation between thoughts and representations, regarding the shinto's spaces in terms of mythical imaginaries and Japanness. Thirdly, it ascertains mythical structure represented in the traditional space designs on terms with 'prototype' from symbolic system of the myth. It selects the cases among Japanese contemporary architects's works designed after 1960's, and analyses the meanings. In conclusion, it clarifies that this way can be a suggestion as the space design method combining the human's imaginary property with the time-stratigraphic region, and offering creative ideas for the strategy of the space design brand image that embraces a wide range of culture, ecology, and sensibility.

  • Recently, many complex DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms have being realized on RISC CPU due to good compilation, low power consumption and large memory space. But, real-time implementation of multiple DSP algorithms on RISC requires the minimum and efficient memory usage and the lower occupancy of CPU. In this thesis, the original floating-point code of MPEG-1 audio decoder is converted to the fixed-point code and then optimized to the efficient assembly code in time-consuming function in accord with RISC feature. Finally, compared with floating-point and fixed-point, about 30 and 3 times speed enhancements are achieved respectively. And 3~4 times memory spaces are spared.

  • This paper gives a feminist reading of Suzanne Alexander in The Alexander Plays by focusing on her performances as active reconstitutions of history and memory. A compilation of four of Adrienne Kennedy's more recent plays, The Alexander Plays revolves around a central protagonist who, behind windows and within the closed spaces of the home, waits for her missing husband to return home. Yet, the plot of the waiting wife seems to mask the hidden and more dangerous desires for political transgressions of the play. By analyzing Suzanne's interaction with various literary and historical figures, memories and events, this paper argues that her seeming approval of domesticity, femininity and intimacy serves as a cover for her more political altercations with history, race and gender.

  • This study aims to establish the foundation for a simultaneity research, draw the potential through Bergson's simultaneity, and explore a space with the possibility of a continued change, focusing on the simultaneous process, in which physical mobility and consciousness of space last together. First, this study was focused on understanding Bergson's simultaneity, on the basis of the perspective that space needs to have more active, dynamic mobility. For understanding Bergson's simultaneity, the understanding of Bergson's duration conception, memory and perception was preceded. After that, the characteristics of simultaneity were extracted from the concepts of duration, change, memory and perception and its characteristics, which are connected to space, were analyzed. As a result, the study on simultaneity that was intensively analyzed, based on diverse cases, re-awakened the basis of value or thought, which we must aim at, in space design of the present time. This shows the possibility of another creative form that can be found in spaces of the present time and serves as the foundation to discover an essential and potential value of space in space design. Moreover, the combination of space with science, humanities, art and digital media technology demonstrated once again that there is a good possibility of approaching non-representational space that is pursued today and it is anticipated that using Bergson's simultaneity as a medium for spatial combination in their relationship would help in drawing deeper internal meaning and potential of space.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) memories using through-silicon vias (TSVs) as vertical bus across memory layers are implemented by many semiconductor companies. 3D memories are composed of known-good-dies (KGDs). If additional faults are arisen during bonding, they should be repaired. In order to enhance the yield of 3D memories with inter-die redundancies, a die-matching method is needed to effectively stack memory dies in a 3D memory. In this paper, a new die-matching method is proposed for 3D memory yield enhancement with inter-die redundancies considering additional faults arisen during bonding. Three boundary-limited conditions are used in the proposed die-matching method; they set bounds to the search spaces for selecting memory dies to manufacture a 3D memory. Simulation results show that the proposed die-matching method can greatly enhance the 3D memory yield.
