  • Digital fetal monitoring system based on the personal computer combined with the digital signal processing (DSP) board was implemented. The DSP board acquires and digitally processes ultra- sound fetal Doppler signal for digital signal conditioning, rectification, low -pass filtering, autocorrealtion function calculation and its peak detection. The personal computer interfaced with the DSP board is in charge of graphic display, hardcopy, data transmission and on -line analysis of fetal heart rate change including on - line warning system, base -line estmation, acceleration, deceleration and variability. It is one of the most suitable situation to apply the DSP chip for siganl conditioning, digital filtering of ultrasound fetal Dopier signal and fetal heart rate estimation using autocorrelation technique .

  • In x-ray imaging system, twokinds of noises are involved. First, the charge generated from the radiation interaction with the detector during exposure is modeled by Poisson process. Second, the signal is then added by readout electronics noise, which is modeled by Gaussian distribution. In this paper, we applied Wiener filter and Wavelet to remove noise from medical X-ray image, the result shows that wavelet yield better segmentation results than the wiener filter.

환자안전에 관한 간호사의 경험학습: 낙상 사고를 중심으로 (Nurses' learning experiences from falling accidents on patient safety)

  • Purpose : The aim of this article is to describe the nurses' experiential learning mechanism on patient safety. Methods : To analyze nurses' learning experiences on patient safety cases, a focus-group interview method was used. The Kolb's experiential learning model was used as a reference model. Findings : Without deep reflective reasoning about specific experiences, there is no creative or innovative solutions to experiment actively. Nurses are likely to be reluctant learners when there is no systemic support from formal departments which is in charge of patient safety and quality of care. Conclusion : In order to build patient safety culture in hospital, there should be efforts to make nurses as active learners on patient safety as well as to build learning environments in medical units.

  • A pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used widely for materials processing and medical instrument. It's very important to control the laser energy density in those fields using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. A pulse repetition rate and a pulse width are regarded as the most dominant factors to control the energy density of laser beam. In this paper, the alternating charge and discharge system was designed to adjust a pulse repetition rate. This system is controlled by microprocessor and allows to frequence an expensive condenser for high frequency to cheap one for low frequency. In addtion, The microcontroller monitors the flow of cooling water, short circuit, and miss firing and so on. We designed Nd:YAG laser firmware with smart microcontroller, and want to explain general matters about the firmware from now.

  • This research is the basical experiment for designing kVp meter using the photo-conductive property of Amorphous Selenium. At first, we charged the surface with A re discharge method, and changed the formed surface potential voltage by x-raying on that surface. As a result the variations of the surface charge increased by the rising kVp, while maintaining a constant exposure time and mA. We become to know that we can apply the photoconductive property of Amorphous Selenium in designing kVp meter.

의료보험환자와 일반환자의 재원기간에 관련되는 요인분석 (Determinants of Length of Hospital Stay by Insured and Non-insured Patients)

  • In order to determine the factors affecting the length of stay by pay status, a total of 961 in-patients medical records with appendectomy. cholecystectomy and Cesarean section discharged from the January 1979 to December 1981 from the University hospital were reviewed. Average length of stay showed no statistically significant difference by year between the insured and the non-insured patients, however multiple diagnoses and surgical complication were significantly different from single diagnosis and non-complicated cases. Surgical complication explained the length of stay mostly, and physician in discharge, multiple diagnoses, and accommodation in order for insured patients. Surgical complication, admission route, physician in charge and age in order explained the length of stay for non-insured patients.

방사성동위원소 치료의 제도적 문제점과 개선 (Regulatory Problems in Radionuclide Therapy and Suggestions for Systematic Improvement)

  • Radionuclide therapy has been used for more than 50 years and proved to be a safe and effective modality. However, the patients' right to have the excellent medical service is seriously disturbed by excessive regulations of government institutions such as Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS), Health Insurance Review Agency (HIRA) and Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). For example, the patients should wait for more than 6 months to have I-131 treatment in many hospitals it is strongly recommended to mitigate the regulations to resonable levels to solve the problems. If HIRA allow the hospitals to charge reasonable rate for radionuclide therapy room, then more hospitals would invest to build the radionuclide therapy rooms and the patients' waiting time would decrease. The waiting time would also decrease, if KINS allow 2 patients to share a radionuclide therapy room. Finally, it is strongly recommended to lower the threshold for approval of new therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals by KFDA, which would allow new effective therapeutic raoiopharmaceuticals to be introduced to clinical practices more easily.

Modified PSO Based Reactive Routing for Improved Network Lifetime in WBAN

  • Technological advancements taken the health care industry by a storm by embedding sensors in human body to measure their vitals. These smart solutions provide better and flexible health care to patients, and also easy monitoring for the medical practitioners. However, these innovative solutions provide their own set of challenges. The major challenge faced by embedding sensors in body is the issue of lack of infinite energy source. This work presents a meta-heuristic based routing model using modified PSO, and adopts an energy harvesting scheme to improve the network lifetime. The routing process is governed by modifying the fitness function of PSO to include charge, temperature and other vital factors required for node selection. A reactive routing model is adopted to ensure reliable packet delivery. Experiments have been performed and comparisons indicate that the proposed Energy Harvesting and Modified PSO (EHMP) model demonstrates low overhead, higher network lifetime and better network stability.

다결정 CdTe 기반의 광계수형 X선 센서 제작 및 특성평가 (The Fabrication and Property Evaluation of Poly-crystalline CdTe based Photon Counting X-ray Sensor)

  • 종래의 방사선 의료영상 센서는 방사선에 의해 생성된 전하신호를 화소내에서 적분하는 방식이다. 본 연구에서는 저선량에서 우수한 해상력이 가능한 광계수형 영상센서를 개발하기 위해 진공 열증착법을 이용하여 다결정 CdTe(p-CdTe) 필름을 제작하였다. 또한, 광계수형 센서의 성능평가를 위하여 물리적 특성(SEM, XRD) 및 전기적 특성(leakage current, x-ray sensitivity, SNR) 평가를 하였다. 측정 결과, $1V/{\mu}m$ 이하의 인가전압에서 $5nA/cm^2$ 이하의 누설 전류밀도를 보였으며, X선 발생신호량은 $7{\mu}C/cm^2{\cdot}R$으로 광계수형 센서로의 적용에 적합한 것으로 평가되었다. 또한, 신호대잡음비는 동작영역에서 5000 이상의 값을 보였다.

다이아몬드 FETs에서 전기적 바이어스 방법을 이용한 단일염기 다형성(SNPs) 검출 (Detection of SNPs using electrical biased method on diamond FETs)

  • 돌연변이 및 유전병의 원인이 되고 있는 유전자 단일염기 다형성(single nucleotide polymorphisms; SNPs) 검출은 조기진단, 치료 및 제약등 바이오관련 분야에서 매우 중요하다. SNPs 검출을 위한 방법은 다양하게 제시되고 있으나 상보적 DNA와 SNPs의 에너지 차이가 미세하여 SNPs 검출에는 많은 어려움이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 SNPs를 검출하기 위하여 전하 검출형 전계효과 트랜지스터(field-effect transistors; FETs)를 이용하여 DNA가 가지고 있는 음전하 측정 방법으로 SNPs를 검출하였다. 상보적 DNA와 SNPs의 미세한 에너지 차이를 구분하기 위하여 타게트 DNA hybridization공정에서 드레인-소스 전극에 -0.3 V의 음전압을 인가하였다. 음전압 인가에 따라 DNA 자체 음전하와 센서 표면의 음전압의 전기적 반발력에 의해 센서에 검출되는 타게트 DNA hybridization 신호 크기는 감소하였으나 상보적 DNA와 SNPs의 신호 차는 1.7 mV에서 8.7 mV로 5배 이상 증가하여 검출되었다.
