Research on Measurement Condition Establishment of a Liquid Scintillation Counter System (액체섬광계수기 장비의 계측조건 확립에 관한 연구)

  • It is judged that there could be certainty in every process of analyzing environmental samples using Liquid Scintillation Counter. Therefore, this study focuses on quantitative evaluation on uncertainty in an effort to analyze comparatively accurately environmental samples. For this, after parameters which can have an effect on uncertainty was derived, the evaluation on each parameter was tamed out. The results of analysis of each parameter showed that the effect according to the weight difference of Teflon vial did not appear, and that standard deviations of SQP(E) averages reached saturation point at $75{\sim}90$ sec at the result of making increases step by step the irradiation time of External standard, and that values measured by repeat method produces good results compared with replicate. Also, conclusion was derived that analysis on sample after it is left in cold and dark room at least above 1,000 minutes have to be carried out, and the result of carrying out verification on results measured as well as equipment itself using radioactivity-error-analysis and chi-square test, resonable result was derived.

A Study of The Determinants of Turnover Intention and Organizational Commitment by Data Mining (데이터마이닝을 활용한 이직의도와 조직몰입의 결정요인에 대한 연구)

  • In this article, data mining simulation is applied to find a proper approach and results of analysis for study of variables related to organization. Also, turnover intention and organizational commitment are used as target (dependent) variables in this simulation. Classification and regression tree (CART) with ensemble methods are used in this study for simulation. Human capital corporate panel data of Korea Research Institute for Vocation Education & Training (KRIVET) is used. The panel data is collected in 2005, 2007, and 2009. Organizational commitment variables are analyzed with combined measure variables which are created after investigation of reliability and single dimensionality for multiple-item measurement details. The results of this study are as follows. First, major determinants of turnover intention are trust, communication, and talent management-oriented trend. Second, the main determining factors for organizational commitment are trust, the number of years worked, innovation, communication. CART with ensemble methods has two ensemble CART methods which are CART with Bagging and CART with Arcing. Comparing two methods, CART with Arcing (Arc-x4) extracted scenarios with very high coefficients of determination. In this study, a scenario with maximum coefficient of determinant and minimum error is obtained and practical implications are presented. Using one of data mining methods, CART with ensemble method. Also, the limitation and future research are discussed.

Effective PPG Signal Processing Method for Detecting Emotional Stimulus (감성 자극 판단을 위한 효과적인 PPG 신호 처리 방법)

  • In this study, we propose a signal processing algorithm to measure the arousal level of a human subject using a PPG(Photoplethysmography) sensor. From the measured PPG signals, the arousal level is determined by PPI(Pulse to Pulse Interval) and discrete-time signal processing. We ran psychophysical experiments displaying visual stimuli on TV display while measuring PPG signal from a finger, where the nature landscape scenes were used for restorative effect, and the urban environments were used to stimulate the stress. However, the measured PPG signals may include noise due to subject movement and measurement error, which results in incorrect detections. In this paper, to mitigate the noise impact on stimulus detection, we propose a detecting algorithm using digital signal processing methods and statistics of measured signals. A filter is adopted to remove a high frequency noise and adaptively designed taking into account the statistics of the measured PPG signals. Moreover we employ a hysteresis method to reduce the distortion of PPI in decision of emotional. Via experiment, we show that the proposed scheme reduces signal noise and improves stimulus detection.

Compensation Method for Occluded-region of Arbitrary-view Image Synthesized from Multi-view Video (다시점 동영상에서 임의시점영상 생성을 위한 가려진 영역 보상기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for an arbitrary-view image generation in multi-view video and methods for pre- and post-processing to compensate unattended regions in the generated image. To generate an arbitrary-view image, camera geometry is used. Three dimensional coordinates of image pixels can be obtained by using depth information of multi-view video and parameter information of multi-view cameras, and by replacing three dimensional coordinates on a two dimensional image plane of other view, arbitrary-view image can be reconstructed. However, the generated arbitrary-view image contains many unattended regions. In this paper, we also proposed a method for compensating these regions considering temporal redundancy and spatial direction of an image and an error of acquired multi-view image and depth information. Test results show that we could obtain a reliably synthesized view-image with objective measurement of PSNR more than 30dB and subjective estimation of DSCQS(double stimulus continuous quality scale method) more than 3.5 point.

The Noise Performance of Diffusion Tensor Image with Different Gradient Schemes (확산 텐서 영상에서 확산 경사자장의 방향수에 따른 잡음 분석)

  • Diffusion tensor image(DTI) exploits the random diffusional motion of water molecules. This method is useful for the characterization of the architecture of tissues. In some tissues, such as muscle or cerebral white matter, cellular arrangement shows a strongly preferred direction of water diffusion, i.e., the diffusion is anisotropic. The degree of anisotropy is often represented using diffusion anisotropy indices (relative anisotropy(RA), fractional anisotropy(FA), volume ratio(VR)). In this study, FA images were obtained using different gradient schemes(N=6, 11, 23, 35. 47). Mean values and the standard deviations of FA were then measured at several anatomic locations for each scheme. The results showed that both mean values and the standard deviations of FA were decreased as the number of gradient directions were increased. Also, the standard error of ADC measurement decreased as the number of diffusion gradient directions increased. In conclusion, different gradient schemes showed a significantly different noise performance and the schem with more gradient directions clearly improved the quality of the FA images. But considering acquisition time of image and standard deviation of FA, 23 gradient directions is clinically optimal.

Numerical Analysis of Differential Absorption Lidar for Measuring Atmospheric Pollutants (대기오염 측정용 DIAL의 오차해석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we composed algorithm for DIAL(Differential Absorption Lidar). We investigated the absorption spectrum of $O_3$, $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ dependent on wavelengths using data base UV-Bank and determined the optimized wavelength model. Here, the selected optimal wavelengths are 292.00(${\lambda}_{on}$), 295.20 (${\lambda}_{off}$) for $O_3$, 299.38(${\lambda}_{on}$), 300.05 (${\lambda}_{off}$) for $SO_2$ and 448.00(${\lambda}_{on}$), 449.85(${\lambda}_{off}$) for $NO_2$. In particular, we established the supposed model of DIAL and simulated the error of measuring distance using the selected optimal wavelength. In the model-I with telescope of 300 mm diameter, laser energy of 3 mJ and transmission of 10000 shots, maximum distances are 4 km for $O_3$ measurement and 5 km for $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ measurements. Also, in the model-II with telescope of 600 mm diameter, laser energy of 30 mJ and transmission of 10000 shots, maximum distances are 13 km for $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ measurements.

Analysis of 226Ra in the Groundwater Using the Gamma-ray Spectroscopy (감마선 분광법을 이용한 지하수 중의 226Ra 분석)

  • The measurement of radium ($^{226}Ra$) in the groundwater was established using ${\gamma}$-ray spectroscopy without sample preparation. The background interference by air borne radon daughter nuclides was reduced by $N_2$ gas flow into the counting chamber. Leakage of radon gas produced in the radioactive equilibrium with radium and its daughter nuclides was prevented by use of the air-tighted aluminium container. We investigated the effect of air layer in the counting container. Radioactivity variation due to emanation of radon into the air layer was within the counting error range 5%. When the nitrogen gas was flowed around the detector, peak counts of ${\gamma}$-rays from the daughters of airborne radon was decreased and detection limit was decreased to 0.02 Bq/L. The detection limit of detector was lower than 0.74 Bq/L, the $^{226}Ra$ Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) in the groundwater proposed by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It was confirmed that $^{226}Ra$ radioactivity in the groundwater could be determined by the ${\gamma}$-ray spectroscopy.

Numerical Research on the Lock-in Compensation Method of a Ring Laser Gyroscope for Reducing INS Alignment Time (관성항법장치 초기정렬시간 단축을 위한 링레이저 자이로 lock-in오차 보상방법의 수치해석적인 분석)

  • Generally, the sinusoidal cavity dither is adopted to ring laser gyroscope for eliminating the lock-in which is non-linear effect at the small rotation input. Despite this method, there are some remained errors which are generated at the dither turnaround, and those errors produce random walk which is a general character of a ring laser gyroscope. As one of the numerous research results for compensating these errors, there is a special lock-in compensation method which is the method of error estimation and compensation by comparing the beat signal periods of before and after the dither turnarounds. In this paper, by ring laser gyroscope modeling and numerical analysis, we verified the theoretical validity and confirmed the effectiveness of this method in expectation of the possible beat signal measurement time resolution. As a result, we confirmed the random walk decreases from a-half to a-third by this lock-in compensation method. So, it is expected to be a remarkable method for reducing the INS alignment time.

Estimation of Surface Reflectance by Utilizing Single Visible Reflectance from COMS Meteorological Imager - Analysis of BAOD correction effect - (천리안위성 기상 탑재체의 가시 채널 관측을 이용한 지표면 반사도 산출 - 배경광학두께 보정의 효과 분석 -)

  • Accurate correction of surface effect from back scattered solar radiance is one of key issue to retrieve aerosol information from satellite measurements. In this study, two different methods are applied to retrieve surface reflectance by using single visible channel measurement from meteorological imager onboard COMS. The first one is minimum reflectance method, which composes the minimum value among previously measured reflectances at each pixel over a certain search window length. This method assumes that the darkest pixel corresponds to the aerosol-free condition, and deduces surface reflectance by correcting atmospheric scattering from the measured visible reflectance. The second method, named as the "atmospheric correction method" in this study, estimates the result by correcting aerosol and atmospheric scattering with ground-based observation of aerosol optical properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the retrieval accuracy of the widelyused minimum reflectance method. Also, the retrieval error caused by the loading of background aerosol is mainly estimated. The comparison between surface reflectances retrieved from the two methods shows good agreement with the correlation coefficient of 0.87. However, the results from the minimum reflectance method are slightly overestimated than the values from the atmospheric correction method when surface reflectance is lower than 0.2. The average difference between the two results is 0.012 without the background aerosol correction. By considering the background aerosol effect, however, the difference is reduced to 0.010.

Transmission Dose Estimation Algorithm for Irregularly Shaped Radiation Field (부정형 방사선 조사면에 대한 투과선량 보정 알고리즘)

  • Purpose : Measurement of transmission dose is useful for in vivo dosimetry. In this study, the algorithm for estimating the transmission dose for open radiation fields was modified for application to partially blocked radiation fields. Materials and Methods : The beam data was measured with a flat solid phantom with various blocked fields. A new correction algorithm for partially blocked radiation field was developed from the measured data. This algorithm was tested in some settings simulating clinical treatment with an irregular field shape. Results : The correction algorithm for the beam block could accurately reflect the effect of the beam block, with an error within ${\pm}1.0\%$, with both square fields and irregularly shaped fields. Conclusion : This algorithm can accurately estimate the transmission dose in most radiation treatment settings, including irregularly shaped field.
