  • This paper presents a semi-blind Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) beamforming adaptive algorithm used far OFDM/CDMA combined system. The proposed algorithm exploits the transmitting pilot signal in the initial period of the transmission to update the weight vector. Then it applies the blind adaptive period to update the weight vector, in which the pilot signal is no longer used. The derivation of the algorithm based on the Mean Square Error (MSE) criterion is also presented. Computer simulation is carried out to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

  • Some switching properties of multivariate control charts are investigated when the interval between two consecutive sample selections is not fixed but changes according to the result of the previous sample observation. Many articles showed that the performances of variable sampling interval control charts are more efficient than those of fixed sampling interval control charts in terms of average run length (ARL) and average time to signal (ATS). Unfortunately, the ARL and the ATS do not provide any information on how frequent a switch is being made. We evaluate several switching properties of two sampling interval Shewhart and CUSUM procedures for controlling mean vector of correlated quality variables.

  • We investigate the properties of multivariate Shewart control charts with VSI procedure for monitoring simultaneous monitoring mean vector and covariance matrix in term of ANSW (average number of switches), probability of switch and ASI (average sampling interval), ATS (average time to signal). From examining the ANSW values, we know that it does not switch frequently. The VSI control charts are superior to the corresponding FSI control charts in terms of ATS. And, it can be also seen that the VSI procedures have substantially fewer switches for small or moderate shifts of the mean vector and variances.

  • For the mean vector of a p-variate normal distribution ($p{\geq}3$), the optimal estimation within the class of James-Stein type decision rules under the quadratic loss are given when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm ${\parallel}\underline{{\theta}}{\parallel}$ in known. It also demonstrated that the optimal estimation within the class of Lindley type decision rules under the same loss when the underlying distribution is the previous type and the norm ${\parallel}{\theta}-\overline{\theta}\underline{1}{\parallel}$ with $\overline{\theta}=\frac{1}{p}\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}{\theta}_i$ and $\underline{1}=(1,{\cdots},1)^{\prime}$ is known.

  • This paper shows that we can design a vector-coordinate rotation processor and obtain the approximate evaluations of sine and cosine based upon the use of residue number systems. The algorithm results in the considerable improvement of the computation speed when compared to CORDIC algorithm. The results from computer simulation show that the mean error of sine and cosine is 0.0025 and the mean error of coordinate rotation arithmatic is 0.65. Also, the proposed processor has the efficiency for the design and fabrication of integrated circuit, because it consists of the array of idecntially structured look-up tables.

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare a class of vector quantization techniques which include GVQ(Genera VQ) MSVQ(Mean separated VQ) and DCT_VQ The VQ techniques are applied to six images and both subjective and objective performance comparison are made The results indicate that the transform domain approach(DCT_VQ) yields more syable results than the spatial domain method (GVQ, MSVQ)

  • Study on convexity has been improved in many statistical fields, such as linear programming, stochastic inverntory problems and decision theory. In proof of main theorem in Section 3, M. Loeve already proved this theorem with the $r$-th absolute moments on page 160 in [1]. Main consideration is given to prove this theorem using convex theorems with the generalized $t$-th mean when some convex properties hold on a real linear vector space $R_N$, which satisfies all properties of finite dimensional Hilbert space. Throughout this paper $\b{x}_j, \b{y}_j$ where $j = 1,2,......,k,.....,N$, denotes the vectors on $R_N$, and $C_N$ also denotes a subspace of $R_N$.

  • We give new definition of the effective-leakage and the signal to effective-leakage plus noise ratio (SELNR) to consider receiver combining motivated by the leakage. We propose a method to find jointly beamforming vector and combining vector for the two linear receivers (maximal ratio combining (MRC) receiver and minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver) based on the SELNR.
