  • In this study. the author proposes a nonhierarchical clustering method. called the "Double K-Means Clustering", which performs clustering of multivariate observations with the following algorithm: Step I: Carry out the ordinary K-means clmitering and obtain k temporary clusters with sizes $n_1$,... , $n_k$, centroids $c_$1,..., $c_k$ and pooled covariance matrix S. $\bullet$ Step II-I: Allocate the observation x, to the cluster F if it satisfies ..... where N is the total number of observations, for -i = 1, . ,N. $\bullet$ Step II-2: Update cluster sizes $n_1$,... , $n_k$, centroids $c_$1,..., $c_k$ and pooled covariance matrix S. $\bullet$ Step II-3: Repeat Steps II-I and II-2 until the change becomes negligible. The double K-means clustering is nearly "optimal" under the mixture of k multivariate normal distributions with the common covariance matrix. Also, it is nearly affine invariant, with the data-analytic implication that variable standardizations are not that required. The method is numerically demonstrated on Fisher's iris data.

  • This paper presents an efficient and accurate method for nonlinear analysis of frame structures by idealized structural unit method. The main idea behind the present method is to minimize the computational effort by reducing the number of unknowns. An explicit form of the tangential elastic stiffness matrix of the element is derived by the principle of virtual work. The ultimate limit state of the element is judged on the basis of the formation of a plastic hinge mechanism. The elasto-plasto-plastic stiffness matrix of the element is derived by plastic node method and the post-ultimate stiffness equation is formulated under a simple analytic consideration. A comparison between the present solution and the existing experimental and other numerical result for unit column member and simple frame structure is made. If is clear from the result of this study that the present method is very useful because the computing time required is very small while giving the accurate solution.

  • The mathematical adjoint solution of the Analytic Function Expansion (AFEN) method is found by solving the transposed matrix equation of AFEN nodal equation with only minor modification to the forward solution code AFEN. The perturbation calculations are then performed to estimate the change of reactivity by using the mathematical adjoint The adjoint calculational scheme in this study does not require the knowledge of the physical adjoint or the eigenvalue of the forward equation. Using the adjoint solutions, the exact and first-order perturbation calculations are peformed for the well-known benchmark problems (i.e., IAEA-2D benchmark problem and EPRI-9R benchmark problem). The results show that the mathematical adjoint flux calculated in the code is the correct adjoint solution of the AFEN method.

  • The wavelet transform is combined with the boundary element method (BEM), to solve efficiently the Maxwell's equation and the proposed method is applied to the electromagnetic problem for the analysis of topological effects of phase-shifting masks. The accuracy of the module developed was verified by comparison with both analytic solutions and published results. In addition, it was found that the boundary element method in combination with the wavelet matrix transform would be more efficient than the conventional methods based on the BEM in views of the calculation speed and the usage of computer memory.

  • A single-server queueing model with infinite buffer and batch arrival of customers is considered. In contrast to the standard batch arrival when a whole batch arrives into the system at one epoch, we assume that the customers of an accepted batch arrive one-by one in exponentially distributed times. Service time is exponentially distributed. Flow of batches is the stationary Poisson arrival process. Batch size distribution is geometric. The number of batches, which can be admitted into the system simultaneously, is subject of control. Analysis of the joint distribution of the number batches and customers in the system and sojourn time distribution is implemented by means of the matrix technique and method of catastrophes. Effect of control on the main performance measures of the system is demonstrated numerically.

  • There are many difficulties to get the scattered field generated by obstacle which has arbitrary shape or irregular surface impedance by using analytic solution or numerical methods. In this study, we propose experimental method of acoustic scattering holography that can predict the far-field scattered field based on nearfield measurements. In particular we can get the scattered fields of each wave-number components of incident fields. We express the relationship of wave-number components between incident fields and scattered fields using scattering matrix which is transfer matrix of wave-number components. Lastly, we prove the relation between wave-number components of incident and scattered field by experiments. The errors which are caused by measurements and decomposition methods are also analyzed.

  • A method employing infinite elements is described for the magnetic field computations of the magnetic circuits with permanent magnet. The system stiffness matrix is derived by a variational approach, while the interfacial boundary conditions between the finite element regions and the infinite element regions are dealt with using collocation method. The proposed method is applied to a simple linear problems, and the numerical results are compared with those of the standard finite element method and the analytic solutions. It is observed that the proposed method gives more accurate results than those of the standard finite element method under the same computing efforts.

  • When women are removed with their matrix which is a emotionally significant organ of symbol in psychologically adapting themselves to mother and woman, that is threatened and injured with woman role decisively. This study tried to find the efficient nursing intervention method to maintain and promote their health, to cope with health problem, and to inquire into the loss experience of women with hysterectomy by using the phenomenological method. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi. The result of the study was as follows : The factors which have influence on the loss experience of the subjects are an offer of information, support system, age, occupation, economic situation, family history, character, season, the existence of ovary and religion. The loss experience of matrix was expressed in lingual, reactions to the loss of function, sex, body change and husband, in behavioral behaviors in emotion and body. The loss of matrix of the subjects was relived by religion. perineorrhapy, exercise, reading, watching video and diet. The subjects each showed ways of reaction of fatalism, giving-up, coping on the loss experience of matrix. In conclusion, since we ascertained that the nursing in the process of recovery decide the quality of life. though women with hysterectomy undergo various loss experience and adapt to it in the end, it is necessary to give them enough information and educate husband, having on important effect on the loss experience, to be a good supporter, And technically skilled nurses of consultant are thought to be able to contrive better qualitative life of women with hysterectomy as an important bridge between the subjects and their required information, since the nurses have their well-formed position of relationship of confidence through continuous contact with patients and their family.

  • This paper presents a method for evaluating the nash equilibrium of the Cournot model for N-Gencos in wholesale electricity market. In wholesale electricity market, the strategies of N-Gencos can be applied to the game model under the conditions, which the Gencos determine their strategies to maximize their benefit. Generally, the Lemke algorithm has known as the approach to evaluate the mixed nash equilibrium in the only two-player game model. In this paper, we have developed the necessary condition for obtaining the mixed nash equilibrium of N-player by using the Lemke algorithms. However, it is difficult to find the mixed nash equilibrium of two more players by using the analytic method since those have the nonlinear characteristics. To overcome the above problem, we have formulated the object function satisfied with the proposed necessary conditions for N-player nash equilibrium and applied the modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) method to obtain the equilibrium for N-player. To present the effectiveness the proposed necessary condition and the evaluation approach, this paper has shown the results of equilibrium of sample system and the cournot game model for 3-players.
