It is well known that parameter uncertainties and time-delays cannot be avoided in practice and result in poor performance and even instability. Nevertheless, to the authors' best knowledge, there exist few results on model predictive control (MPC) handling explicitly uncertain time-delayed systems. In this paper, we present an MPC algorithm for uncertain time-varying systems with input constraints and state-delay. An optimization problem is suggested to find a memoryless state-feedback MPC law and the closed-loop stability is established under feasibility and certain conditions.
Parameter estimation for the probability model of wavelet coefficients is essential to the wavelet-domain interpolation. However, phase uncertainty, one well-known drawback of the orthogonal wavelet transforms, make it difficult to estimate parameters. In this paper, we exploit a phase shifting matrix in order to improve the accuracy of estimation. Nonlinear modeling to capture the interscale characteristics is also described. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the previous wavelet-domain interpolation method as well as the conventional bicubic method.

This paper considers the problem of continuous and discrete time dissipative filter design method for the singular systems with polytopic uncertainties. Two bounded real lemmas (BRL) for the robust filters of dissipative singular systems along with the polytopic uncertainties are proposed on the basis of Lyapunov criterion. The sufficient conditions for both continuous and discrete time dissipative filter design methods are derived using the obtained BRL by linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Finally, the validities of the proposed methods are shown by numerical examples.
This paper presents an observer-based robust controller for constant reference tracking of linear time invariant systems with polytopic model uncertainties. To this end, this paper not only designs a robust integral controller gain but also suggests how to determine the robust observer gain and the observer model used in the observer. Since the observer model selection is not obvious due to the polytopic uncertainties, particular attention needs to be paid to that. This paper computes the robust controller and observer gains first. Then, the observer model is selected in a way that the whole closedloop is stable and LMIs are used in the middle of choosing the gains and observer model. Simulation examples show that the proposed observer-based feedback control successfully achieves robust reference tracking.
This study presents an intelligent PID control method based on the fuzzy logic and this method is applied to the active magnetic bearing system. By using an appropriate fuzzy matrix, some changes of values of the three coefficients of the controller are determined during system operation and these lead to the improvement of the transient and steady state behavior of the closed loop system. The presented method is actually a combination of the principles of PID control and fuzzy logic. Since the fuzzy logic using linguistic variables in place of numeric variables has many points of likeness to the human logic, the improvement in performance is notable especially in case of large nonlinearity and uncertainty such as the controller start and the excessive mass unbalance. A set of simulation and experimental results illustrate and considerable improvement in the control performance including small overshoot and small transient currents in magnet coils, while maintaining the overal static and dynamic characteristics near the equilibrium position.
The computed-torque method (CTM) shows good trajectory tracking performance in controlling robot manipulator if there is no disturbance or modelling errors. But with the increase of a payload or the disturbance of a manipulator, the tracking errors become large. So there have been many researches to reduce the tracking error. In this paper, we propose a new control algorithm based on the CTM that decreases a tracking error by generating new reference trajectory to the controller. In this algorithm we used the concept of sliding mode theory and fuzzy system to reduce chattering in control input. For the numerical simulation, we used a 2-link robot manipulator. To simulate the disturbance due to a modelling uncertainty, we added errors to each elements of the inertia matrix and the nonlinear terms and assumed a payload to the end-effector. In this simulation, proposed method showed better trajectory tracking performance compared with the CTM.
The forces exerted on an object by the end-effectors of multi-manipulators are decomposed into the motion-inducing force and the internal force. Motion-inducing force effects the motion of an object and internal force can't effect it. The motion of an object can't track exactly the desired motion because of internal force component, therefore internal force component must be considered. In this paper using the resolved acceleration control method and the fact that internal force lies in the null space of jacobian matrix, we construct independently the position, motion-inducing force and internal force controller. Secondly we construct the robust controller to preserve the robustness with respect to the uncertainty of manipulator parameters.

This paper proposes a new robust motion deblurring filter using the inertial sensor measurements for strapdown image IR applications. With taking the PSF measurement error into account, the motion blurred image is modeled by the linear uncertain state space equation with the noise corrupted measurement matrix and the stochastic parameter uncertainty. This motivates us to solve the motion deblurring problem based on the recently developed robust least squares estimation theory. In order to suppress the ringing effect on the deblurred image, the robust least squares estimator is slightly modified by adoping the ridge-regression concept. Through the computer simulations using the actual IR scenes, it is demonstrated that the proposed algorithm shows superior and reliable motion deblurring performance even in the presence of time-varying motion artifact.
In this paper, we propose the design method of fuzzy robust H$\infty$ controller for the uncertain nonlinear discete-time systems with time delay. First, we represent a nonlinear plant with a modified T-S(Takagi-Sugeno) fuzzy model. Then design method utilizing the concept of PDC (parallel distributed compensation) is employed. For the modified T-S fuzzy model with uncertainty and delay, the sufficient condition of the quadratic stabilization with an H$\infty$ norm bound is presented in terms of Lyapunov stability theory and fuzzy robust H$\infty$ controller design method is given by LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach. Also an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the result of the proposed method.

As a general model of rule-based systems, we propose a model for a fuzzy production system having chaining rules and an inference engine associated with the model. The concept of so-called 'fuzzy petri nets' is used to model the fuzzy production system and the inference engine is designed to be capable of handling inexact knowledge. The fuzzy logic is adopted to represent vagueness in the rules and the certainty factor is used to express uncertainty of each rules given by a human expert. Parallel, inference schemes are devised by transforming Fuzzy Petri nets to matrix formula. Futher, the inference engine mechanism under the Mamdani's implication method can be desceribed by a simple algebraic formula, which makes real time inference possible.
