The Problems and Enlightenment about Gifted Children's Mathematics Educational Practice in China

  • According to the mathematics educational practice and research about gifted children in some secondary schools in China, the paper presented some relevant problems: 1. Missing or mistaken selecting in gifted children in China. It included the limitations of identifying standard and the fault of understanding and doing in practice, administration disturbance and emotional inclination. 2. Backward traditional mathematics teaching in gifted children in China. It included lower teaching starting point, slower teaching planned speed, simpler teaching contents and so on. The paper analyzed the problems, and made enlightenment for gifted children's mathematical teaching strategies: raising starting point of contents; emphasizing essential principles and skills; using flexible teaching methods; encouraging discover and creativity and developing harmoniously psychological level and mathematical ability. As to these strategies, some detail measures were offered as well.

대학 미분방정식 교수.학습의 새로운 방향: RME 접근 (New directions in the teaching and learning of differential equations: The RME approach)

  • This paper is based on a teaching experiment research conducted in a differential equations course at Ewha Womans University. The purpose of this paper lies in seeking a new direction in the teaching and learning of college mathematics by applying RME's theoretical essence to the teaching of differential equations. For this purpose, the emergent procedure had to be carefully considered before to analyzing the existing problems in teaching differential equations and alternative access to reformed differential equations. Methods of developmental research, ideas concerning teaching procedure and instructional design are offered. This research demonstrates that a deeper understanding of differential equations by students can be achieved with the instructional design which reflects the RME theory.

수학교과의 통합 교수-학습자료 개발 현황 분석 (Analysis on the development of integrated teaching-learning materials of the mathematics and other subjects)

  • 수학은 오랜 역사를 가진 학문으로 수학으로부터 새로운 학문이 발생하기도 하고 다른 학문과의 관련을 계속 이어왔기에 수학과 타 교과 통합 교육은 수학의 학문적 특성에 비추어 자연스러운 시도라 할 수 있다. 그렇지만 과학 과목의 주제를 수학의 학습 소재로 다루는 시도 외에 타 교과와 통합을 통한 수학 교육 연구는 별로 이루어지지 않았다. 본고에서는 수학과 타 교과 통합 교육의 유형과 통합 교육에 대한 국내 연구 동향을 살펴보고 고등학교 수학 교과와 사회 교과의 통합 교수-학습자료를 중심으로 하여 수학과 타 교과와의 통합 교수-합습자료를 문헌연구를 통하여 알아보았다. 그 결과, 수학의 유용성에 대한 인식 제고 및 흥미도 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있도록 수학과 과학 또는 수학과 사회 외에도 예술, 체육, 국어 교과와의 통합 자료도 최근 개발되었음을 알 수 있는데, 이에 대한 수정 보완에 대한 연구는 본고를 토대로 하여 앞으로 더 수행되어야 할 것이다.

교육실습 과정에서 배우는 초등예비교사의 수학 교수학적 내용 지식에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Elementary Pre-service Teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge of Mathematics that Learned in the Course of Student Teaching)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze how elementary pre-service teachers learned the pedagogical content knowledge of mathematics and to understand the challenges and difficulties that they experienced in the course of student teaching. A qualitative case study provided an in-depth description of the whole three weeks of student teaching process. Four pre-service teachers and two mentor teachers participated in this study. Multiple data collection techniques were used; classroom observations, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and researcher's field notes. The results of this study showed how pre-service teachers learn PCK of mathematics in designing mathematics lessons, understanding mathematics learners and delivering mathematics lessons and what are the difficulties and challenges they experienced. Finally this study discussed about some suggestions to pre-service program and future research.

  • 학생들이 자신의 문제 상황을 해결하기 위하여 수학을 이용하고, 그를 통해 수학적 지식을 학습할 수 있다면, 이것은 학생들이 수학의 유용성과 가치를 깨닫게 하는 수학교육이 될 것이다. 본 연구는 학생들이 문제해결을 통하여 수학을 학습할 수 있도록 지도하기 위해, 여러 교과에서 관심을 두고 있는 문제 중심 학습을 고찰하고 그것을 수학 교과에서 수학적 모델링으로 적용하려 시도했다. 수학적 모델링을 적용한 수업 모형을 제안하고, 학생들을 실제로 지도한 예시를 들어, 형식적이고 위계적인 학문으로서의 수학에 모델링을 도입하여 문제 중심 학습을 실현할 수 있음을 보이려 했다.

Mathview를 도구로한 고등학교 함수 단원 구성 (Mathematics Curriculum with Computer Algebra System: The Development of the Function Curriculum Using 'Mathview' in the 10th Grade Mathematics)

  • The purpose of this study is to restructure the 10th grade mathematics curriculum for teaching the function area under the computer environment using ‘Mathview’, which is a computer algebra system designed for exploring algebra dynamically. The instructional sequence of the function area was redesigned to highlight the functions and properties of the computer software. And, based on the newly designed sequence, this study develops the sample ‘teaching unit’ using Mathview. The basic principle of the materials is to encourage students to investigate mathematics by manipulate various experimental tasks by themselves or through group study. And, the draft of the sequence and teaching unit was reviewed by some mathematics teachers and revised through the feedback.

  • In this paper we discuss the teaching methods about statistical inferences. Bayesian methods have the attractive feature that statistical conclusions can be stated using the language of subjective probability. Simple methods of teaching Bayes' rule described, and these methods are illustrated for inference and prediction problems for one proportions. Also, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of traditional and Bayesian approachs in teaching inference.

Perry의 인식론적 신념 발달도식의 수학교육 적용 방안 연구 (A Study on the Application of Perry's Epistemological Development Scheme in Mathematics Education)

  • 본 연구는 인식론적 신념 발달을 위한 수학 교수학습 방안의 설계를 목표로 하였다. 인식론적 신념은 지식 및 앎의 본성에 관한 신념으로, 수학에 대한 인식론적 신념은 수학 교수학습 과정에서 중요한 요소이지만, 많은 학생들이 수학 수업에 대하여 교사로부터 문제풀이 방법을 전달받는 수동적 과정이라는 이원론적 신념을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Perry의 발달도식을 재해석하여 수학교육에서의 인식론적 신념 발달도식을 제시하고, 인식론적 신념의 발달을 유도하기 위한 교수학습 방안으로 비평형 상황과 스캐폴딩을 제안하였다. 설계 기반 연구 방법을 활용하여, 설계한 교수학습 방안을 미시적으로 평가하기 위해 수학영재 중학생들을 대상으로 수행한 교수실험을 분석하여 논의하였다.

컴퓨터보조수업(CAI)이 수학교과 학력신장에 미치는 영향 -고등학교 "미분ㆍ적분" 단원을 중심으로-

  • Development of new and highly efficient computer technologies are providing schools and homes with faster and multi-functioning computers, and text-oriented education softwares are now being rapidly replaced by multimedia CAI. There are also increasing needs for computer-literate teachers and more effective CAI materials. The goal of this study is to present effective ways to use computers as teaching aids in mathematics classrooms and how computers affect the students' achievement, interest and attitude in mathematics. Theoretical reviews on learning theories of CAI and multimedia were made before designing teaching plans for mathematics classrooms and the plans were applied to classrooms. The result of this study shows that there is a significant difference in achievement between control group and experimental group, and also indicates that CAI increases the students' interest and attitude in mathematics to a certain extent. Although using computers in classrooms are considered to be more effective in teaching than text-oriented lectures, the number of computers in schools is limited and all the students can not take advantage of individualized drill and practice programs or tutorial programs. One way of various solutions to this problem is developing teaching materials for middle or large sized classes and providing teachers with easy-to-carry notebook computers. And also mathematics teachers should be given more chances to train themselves in developing and using CAI materials.

한국 사범대학 수학교육과의 교육과정 및 교수방법 분석 (An analysis on the curriculum and teaching methods of Korean mathematics education departments)

  • This study has examined the current status of mathematics education departments by analyzing its curriculum and teaching methods. We analyzed data set of the number of faculty and students, curricula, textbooks and instructional methods among 23 mathematics education department in Korea. The data reveals that the curricula of the universities of education has shown that more content knowledge subjects are taught than pedagogy knowledge subjects. However, it is important to note that there is increasing emphasis on pedagogical content knowledge. In addition, the curricula of mathematics education departments deal with various aspects of pedagogical content knowledge. What matters is whether the system works for developing a sound and deep understanding of fundamental aspects of the subject matter in future mathematics teachers. The results of the study point to the importance of pedagogical content knowledge and to the essential components that can promote further understanding of effective teaching for preparing future teachers in mathematics education departments.
