  • In this paper, a merged TEA block cipher processor which unifies Tiny Encryption Algorithm(TEA), extended Tiny Encryption Algorithm(XTEA) and corrected block TEA(XXTEA) is designed. After TEA cipher algorithm was first designed, XTEA and XXTEA cipher algorithms were designed to correct security weakness. Three types of cipher algorithm uses a 128-bit master key. The designed cipher processor can encrypt or decrypt 64-bit message block for TEA/XTEA and variable-length message blocks up to 256-bit for XXTEA. The maximum throughput for 64-bit message blocks is 137Mbps and that of 256-bit message blocks is 369Mbps. The merged TEA block cipher designed in this paper has a 16% gain on the area side compared to a lightweight LEA cipher. The cryptographic IP of this paper is applicable in security module of the mobile areas such as smart card, internet banking, and e-commerce.

  • Background: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block and intra-articular injection (IAI) of steroid-bupivacaine in the treatment of hip osteoarthritis (OA). Methods: After randomization, patients received either a PENG block or IAI under ultrasound-guidance. Clinical evaluations were recorded at baseline, day 1, and weeks 1, 4, and 8 post-intervention. The numerical rating scale (NRS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), Harris Hip Scale (HHS) scores, pain medication use determined by a quantitative analgesic questionnaire, and patient satisfaction were evaluated. Results: Sixty patients were included in this study. NRS scores improved significantly for both groups during the follow-up compared to pretreatment (P < 0.001), with better pain scores for the PENG group (P < 0.001) at day 1 with larger effect size (Cohen's d = 4.62), and IAI group at 4 (Cohen's d = 5.15) and 8 (Cohen's d = 4.33) weeks (P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in pain medication consumption (P = 0.499) and patient satisfaction (P = 0.138) between groups. Patients in the IAI group experienced significant improvement in HHS (Cohen's d = 2.16, P = 0.007) and WOMAC (Cohen's d = 1.02, P = 0.036) scores at 8 weeks compared to the PENG group. Conclusions: The ultrasound-guided PENG block provides effective pain relief which improves functionality and quality of life in hip OA patients up to 2 months. The PENG block can be considered an easy, safe, and useful alternative treatment modality for hip OA.

  • The multiple block localization method in a wide area for multiple robots using iGS is proposed in this paper. The iGS is developed for the indoor global localization using ultrasonic and RF sensors. To measure the distance between a mobile robot and a beacon, the tag on the mobile robot wakes up one beacon to send out the ultrasonic signal and measures the traveling time from the beacon to the mobile robot. As the number of robots is increased, the sampling time of localization also becomes longer. Note that only one robot can localize its own position calling beacons one by one during each of the sampling interval. This is a severe constraint for the localization of multiple robots in a wide area. This paper proposes an efficient localization algorithm for the multiple robots in a wide area which can be divided into multiple blocks. For a given block, a master beacon is designated to synchronize robots. By the access of the synchronization signal, each beacon in the selected group sends out an ultrasonic signal. When the robots in the block receive the ultrasonic signal, they can calculate their own locations based on the distances to the beacons, which are obtained by the multiplication of flight time and velocity of the ultrasonic signal. The efficiency of the algorithm is verified through the real experiments.

  • An absolutely passive fit at the interface with the superstructure and the abutment cylinders is need for implant longevity. In this study, a method of cast framework correction using spark erosion technology was evaluated. Electric discharge machining(EDM) is a process that uses electrical discharges, or sparks, to machine metal, The surface being machined is bombared with high-intensity electrical energy pulses that gradually melt away the stock until the desired configuration is obtained. Master model was fabricated by using metal block impression analogue, which fired 5 Branemark squared impression coping in an arc shaped metal block. Then framework using 4mm standard gold cylinder and type IV gold alloy was fabricated. In order to measure the fit of the framework we used both contact and noncontact coordinate measurement machine and data was processed by computer program. After superimposition of gold framework and master model numeric image data the distances between gold cylinder bearing surfaces and abutment replica bearing surfaces, and the angle deviations between gold cylinder and abutment replica centroid points were calculated. The results were as follows 1 The total mean distance (p<0.01) and standard deviation (p<0.001) between the gold cylinders and abutment bearing surfaces were significantly decreased after EDM 2. The total mean of maximum distances was significantly decreased after EDM (p<0.05). 3. After EDM, the mean angle deviation between centroid points was decreased.

  • Recently, the importance of the area efficient implementation of cryptographic algorithm for the portable device is increasing. Previous ARIA(Academy, Research Institute, Agency) implementation styles that usually concentrate upon speed, we not suitable for mobile devices in area and power aspects. Thus in this paper, we present an area efficient AR processor which use 32-bit architecture. Using new implementation technique of diffusion layer, the proposed processor has 11301 gates chip area. For 128-bit master key, the ARIA processor needs 87 clock cycles to generate initial round keys, n8 clock cycles to encrypt, and 256 clock cycles to decrypt a 128-bit block of data. Also the processor supports 192-bit and 256-bit master keys. These performances are 7% in area and 13% in speed improved results from previous cases.

  • A hardware implementation of ultra-lightweight block cipher algorithm PRESENT that was specified as a block cipher standard for lightweight cryptography ISO/IEC 29192-2 is described in this paper. Two types of crypto-core that support master key size of 80-bit are designed, one is for encryption-only function, and the other is for encryption and decryption functions. The designed PR80 crypto-cores implement the basic cipher mode of operation ECB (electronic code book), and it can process consecutive blocks of plaintext/ciphertext without reloading master key. The PR80 crypto-cores were designed in soft IP with Verilog HDL, and they were verified using Virtex5 FPGA device. The synthesis results using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library show that the encryption-only core has 2,990 GE and the encryption/decryption core has 3,687 GE, so they are very suitable for IoT security applications requiring small gate count. The estimated maximum clock frequency is 500 MHz for the encryption-only core and 444 MHz for the encryption/decryption core.

  • This paper describes a design of cryptographic processor that implements the AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) block cipher algorithm "Rijndael". To achieve high throughput rate, a sub-pipeline stage is inserted into the round transformation block, resulting that the second half of current round function and the first half of next round function are being simultaneously operated. For area-efficient and low-power implementation, the round block is designed to share the hardware resources in encryption and decryption. An efficient scheme for on-the-fly key scheduling, which supports the three master-key lengths of 128-b/192-b/256-b, is devised to generate round keys in the first sub-pipeline stage of each round processing. The cryptoprocessor designed in Verilog-HDL was verified using Xilinx FPGA board and test system. The core synthesized using 0.35-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS cell library consists of about 25,000 gates. Simulation results show that it has a throughput of about 520-Mbits/sec with 220-MHz clock frequency at 2.5-V supply.-V supply.

  • Background: To compare ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) of the genicular nerve with the genicular nerve block using local anesthetic and steroid for management of osteoarthritis (OA) knee pain. Methods: Thirty patients with OA knee were randomly allocated to receive either ultrasound-guided PRF of the genicular nerve (PRF group) or nerve block with bupivacaine and methylprednisolone acetate (local anesthetic steroid [LAS] group). Verbal numeric rating scale (VNRS) and Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) scores were measured at pre-procedure and 1-, 4-, and 12-weeks post-procedure. Results: VNRS scores decreased significantly (P < 0.001) in both the groups at 12 weeks and other follow up times compared to baseline. Seventy-three percent of patients in the PRF group and 66% in the LAS group achieved effective pain relief (≥ 50% pain reduction) at 12 weeks (P > 0.999). There was also a statistically significant (P < 0.001) improvement in WOMAC scores in both groups at all follow up times. However, there was no intergroup difference in VNRS (P = 0.893) and WOMAC scores (P = 0.983). No complications were reported. Conclusions: Both ultrasound-guided PRF of the genicular nerve and blocks of genicular nerve with local anesthetic and a steroid provided comparable pain relief without any complications. However, PRF of the genicular nerve is a procedure that takes much more time and equipment than the genicular nerve block.

  • The objective of the study is to derive the quantitative result and method from the solar simulation on the traditional architectonic control methods and their effects for the sunshine on Ddeuljip in Northern Area of Kyongsang-Bukdo Province, Korea. The Ddeuljip(rectangular-shaped housing plan having an inner court) has distinctive form to introduce plentiful sunshine deep inside to the house in spite of disadvantageous condition resulted from the structure of traditional housing composition, that is, Ickrang(linkage block connecting buildings). From the research on the Ddeuljip, following results were derived: First, in the plan the sunshine environment was improved by placing the master bedroom on the right diagonally, or projecting it toward the Ickrang when there isn't enough space for the inner court and the Daechung(wooden floored main hall). Second in the elevation specific sunshine control methods were developed by increasing the height of the master bedroom, reducing the eaves of south elevation, or differentiating the height of ceiling structure gradually.

  • This paper presents the analysis of friction master curves for a sliding elastomer on rough granite. The hysteresis friction is calculated using an analytical model that considers the energy spent during the local deformation of the rubber due to surface asperities. The adhesion friction is also considered for dry friction prediction. The viscoelastic modulus of the rubber compound and the large-strain effective modulus are obtained from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). We accurately demonstrate the large strain of rubber that contacts with road substrate using the GW theory. We found that the rubber block deforms approximately to 40% strain. In addition, the viscoelastic master curve considering nonlinearity (at 40% strain) is derived based on the above finding. As viscoelasticity strongly depends on temperature, it can be assumed that the influence of velocity on friction is connected to the viscoelastic shift factors gained from DMA using the time-temperature superposition. In this study, we apply these shift factors to measure friction on dry granite over a velocity range for various temperatures. The measurements are compared to simulated hysteresis and adhesion friction using the Kluppel friction theory. Although friction results in the low-speed band match well with the simulation results, there are differences in the predicted and experimental results as the velocity increases. Thus, additional research is required for a more precise explanation of the viscoelastic material properties for better prediction of rubber friction characteristics.
