The dynamic instability and natural frequency of elastically restrained pipe conveying fluid with the attached mass are investigated in this paper. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the equation of motion is derived by using extended Hamilton's Principle. The influence of attached mass and its position on the dynamic instability of a elastically restrained pipe system is presented. Also, the critical flow velocity for the flutter and divergence due to the variation in the position and stiffness of supported spring is studied. Finally, the critical flow velocities and stability maps of the pipe conveying fluid with the attached mass are obtained by changing the parameters.

A micromachined self-exited piezoelectric cantilever has been fabricated using PZT(52/48) thin film. For the application to biosensor using antigen-antibody interaction, electromechanical properties such as resonant frequency and quality factor of micromachined piezoelectric cantilever were important factors. Electromechanical properties and resonant behaviors of microfabricated cantilever were simulated by FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using Coventorware$^{TM}$2003. And these characterization of microcantilever were measured by using LDV(Laser Doppler Vibrometer) to compare with FEA data. We present the resonant frequency shift of micromachined piezoelectric cantilevers due to combination of mass loading and change of spring constant by gold deposition. Experimental mass sensitivities of microcantilever were characterized by Au deposition on the backside of microcantilever. Mass sensitivities with $100{\times}300$${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ dimension cantilever from simulation and experimental were 5.56 Hz/ng and 16.8 Hz/ng respectively.y.

In this paper, studied about the effect of open crack and the moving mass on the dynamic behavior of simply supported pipe conveying fluid. The equation of motion is derived by using Lagrange's equation. The influences of the velocity of moving mass, the velocity of fluid flow and a crack have been studied on the dynamic behavior of a simply supported pipe system by numerical method. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments. Therefore, the crack is modelled as a rotational spring. Totally, as the velocity of fluid flow is increased, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe conveying fluid is increased. The position of the crack is located in the middle point of the pipe, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe presents maximum deflection.
Multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses with/without rotary inertias are widely used in engineering applications, but in the literature for free vibration analysis of such structural systems; Bernoulli-Euler Beam Theory (BEBT) without axial force effect is used. The literature regarding the free vibration analysis of Bernoulli-Euler single-span beams carrying a number of spring-mass systems, Bernoulli-Euler multiple-step and multi-span beams carrying multiple spring-mass systems and multiple point masses are plenty, but that of Timoshenko multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias with axial force effect is fewer. The purpose of this paper is to utilize Numerical Assembly Technique (NAT) and Differential Transform Method (DTM) to determine the exact natural frequencies and mode shapes of the axial-loaded Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying a number of intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias. The model allows analyzing the influence of the shear and axial force effects, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of the multiple-step beams by using Timoshenko Beam Theory (TBT). At first, the coefficient matrices for the intermediate lumped mass with rotary inertia, the step change in cross-section, left-end support and right-end support of the multiple-step Timoshenko beam are derived from the analytical solution. After the derivation of the coefficient matrices, NAT is used to establish the overall coefficient matrix for the whole vibrating system. Finally, equating the overall coefficient matrix to zero one determines the natural frequencies of the vibrating system and substituting the corresponding values of integration constants into the related eigenfunctions one determines the associated mode shapes. After the analytical solution, an efficient and easy mathematical technique called DTM is used to solve the differential equations of the motion. The calculated natural frequencies of Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias for the different values of axial force are given in tables. The first five mode shapes are presented in graphs. The effects of axial force, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of Timoshenko multiple-step beam are investigated.

In this study, we performed a mesocosm experiment to estimate the mass balance of Nutrients (DIN, DIP) in a phragmites australis community. We developed 4 mesocosm tanks which is available to circulate seawater with adjustable tide levels and flooding times. Each of the mesocosm tanks were filled with phragmites australis and sediment from Jinudo in Nakdong Estuary. We investigated DIN, DIP concentrations in three layers (seawater-phragmites australis-sediment) to estimate the mass balance of Nutrients and biomass. Growth rates were also investigated. The results can be summarized as follows. 1) In spring, rhizome biomass was higher than that of aerial stem by about 6.3~9.7%. In summer, aerial stem biomass was higher than that of rhizome about 19.2~21.2 %. 2) Th Growth rate of phragmites in Mesocosm Tank A was faster than in Mesocosm Tank D by about 2 to 3 times for aerial stem and rhizome. 3) The Concentration of nutrients (DIN, DIP) in each mesocosm Tank showed 2~3 % variance in spring and summer. 4) The biomass in each mesocosm varied by about 23 % which was higher than the concentration variance for each mesocosm tanks.
Measurements on mass size distribution of roadside aerosols were obtained in downtown Jeju City from July 2018 to May 2020 using an 8-stage cascade impactor sampler and the compositions of aerosols were analyzed. The mass size distribution of total aerosols was bimodal with aerosols existing in both the fine and coarse modes. The mass size distributions of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl-, NH4+ and SO42- were unimodal, whereas that of K+ was bimodal. For NO3-, the size distribution in winter and spring was bimodal with the peaks in both fine and coarse modes, whereas for summer and autumn the distribution was unimodal with a peak in the coarse mode. NH4+ was found to co-exist with SO42- in the fine mode with an average molar ratio of [NH4+]/[SO42-] equal to 2.05. Good correlation was observed between NO3- and NH4+ in the fine mode particles in spring and winter. Based on the value of the marine enrichment factor for Cl-, Mg2+, K+, Ca2+ and SO42-, it may be inferred that a major part of the roadside aerosols in downtown Jeju City was largely contributed by terrigenous sources, although the influence of sea salt was normally present.
The case for a massive black hole in the center of the Galaxy is reassessed using improved modeling techniques and observational data. A dark mass of ${\~}{\times} 10^6$ Mo is present within 0.2 pc of the Galactic center. However, the available data can be modeled, without appealing to a massive black hole, using an extended distribution of dark stellar remnants (neutron stars and stellar mass black holes) provided that the stellar initial mass function in the central parsec is deficient in stars less massive than $\~$1 Mo. Such a situation may be a natural consequence of repeated gas build-up followed by starbursts in the central region. A clear distinction between this and the massive central black hole model cannot be made using red giant tracers outside 0.2 pc due to uncertainties in the radial velocity dispersion distribution. The cluster of massive early-type emission-line stars in the central parcsec more effectively probe the mass distribution close to Sgr A $\ast$, but their small number and partial rotational support complicate mass determinations. Proper motion determinations for stars within 0.5' of Sgr A$\ast$ may be the most effective means of unambiguously determining the mass distribution in the immediate vicinity of the Galactic center.
Two types of numerical modeling techniques were considered for the dynamic response of a structure subjected to a ground acceleration. One technique is based on the equation of motion relative to ground motion, and the other is based on the equation of absolute motion of the structure and the ground. The analytic background of the former is well established while the latter has not yet been extensively verified. The latter is called a large mass method, which allocates an appropriate large mass to the ground so that it causes the ground to move according to a given acceleration time history. In this paper, through the use of a single degree-of-freedom spring-mass system, the equations of motion of the two techniques were analyzed and useful theorems are provided on the large mass method. Using simple examples, the numerical results of the two modeling techniques were compared with analytic solutions. It is shown that the theorems provide a clear insight on the large mass method.
