Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology is now facing a power scaling limit to increase integration density. Since 1970s, multi-valued logic (MVL) has been considered as promising alternative to resolve power scaling challenge for increasing information density up to peta-scale level by reducing the system complexity. Over the past several decades, however, a power-scalable and mass-producible MVL technology has been absent so that MVL circuit and system implementation have been delayed. Recently, compact MVL device researches incorporating multiple-switching characteristics in a single device such as 2D heterojunction-based negative-differential resistance (NDR)/transconductance (NDT) devices and quantum-dot/superlattices-based constant intermediate current have been actively performed. Meanwhile, wafer-scale, energy-efficient and variation-tolerant ternary-CMOS (T-CMOS) technology has been demonstrated through commercial foundry. In this review paper, an overview for MVL development history including recent studies will be presented. Then, the status and its future research direction of MVL technology will be discussed focusing on the T-CMOS technology for peta-scale information processing in semiconductor chip.

The overestimation and underestimation of the radioactivity concentration of difficult-to-measure radionuclides can occur during the implementation of the scaling factor (SF) method because of the uncertainties associated with sampling, radiochemical analysis, and application of SFs. Strict regulations ensure that the SF method as an indirect method does not underestimate the radioactivity of nuclear wastes; however, there are no clear regulatory guidelines regarding the overestimation. This has been leading to the misuse of the SF methodology by stakeholders such as waste disposal licensees and regulatory bodies. Previous studies have reported instances of overestimation in statistical implementation of the SF methodology. The analysis of the two most popular linear models of the SF methodology showed that severe overestimation may occur and radioactivity concentration data must be dealt with care. Since one major source of overestimation is the use of minimum detectable activity (MDA) values as true activity values, a comparative study of instrumental techniques that could reduce the MDAs was also conducted. Thermal ionization mass spectrometry was recommended as a suitable candidate for the trace level analysis of long-lived beta-emitters such as iodine-129. Additionally, the current status of the United States and Korea was reviewed from the perspective of overestimation.

We investigated seasonal changes in the marine environments and phytoplankton communities in the western part of south coastal waters of Korea during May 2009 and February 2010. In multidimensional scaling analysis of in situ data obtained by shipboard observations, the coastal waters comprised four different water masses: Yellow Sea water mass (YW) of low temperature and salinity, and high suspended solids and nutrient concentrations; south-western coastal water mass (SW) of high salinity and nutrient concentrations; Tsushima Current water mass (TW) of low nutrient concentrations, and high temperature and salinity; and closed bay water mass (CW). The spatial extent of these water masses varied according to seasonal environmental characteristics. In particular, at most study sites, TW expanded during autumn toward coastal waters. Phytoplankton abundances peaked during autumn in CW and spring in YW, which coincided with periods of high nutrient concentrations. In particular, diatoms predominated, and attained an abundance of more than 90% in most water masses. However, dinoflagellates in TW comprised a proportion of approximately 20% abundance.

This study is focused on the development of a child human model, which is composed of skin, skeleton, joints and muscle, etc. The dimension of child outer skin is referred to anthropometric data from KRISS (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science). The positions of joint and mass properties of body segments are calculated from ATB(Articulated Total Body) program, GEBOD. The properties of bones and muscles are obtained by the way of scaling from adult human model. To verify the developed human model, ROM simulation and sled test is conducted. Developed human model can be effectively applied to the evaluation of human injury in crash situation and development of child restraint system. The explicit finite element program $PAM-CRASH^TM$ was used to simulate six-year old child human model.
The Kepler space mission provides quantitative and qualitative photometric time series of oscillating stars. It is possible to examine statistical study with seismic properties of solar-like stars. Global seismic properties - large frequency separation (${\Delta}{\nu}$), frequency of maximum power (${\nu}_{max}$) and amplitude of Gaussian envelope (A) widely have been used to determine empirical scaling relations for inferring the stellar physical quantities - mass, age and temperature. We aim to confirm whether width of Gaussian envelope on power excess (${\delta}{\nu}_{env}$) can be used with parameter of scaling relation before redgiant phase using Kepler data. Therefore we analyze the characteristics of ${\delta}{\nu}_{env}$ of 129 solar-like stars from main-sequence to subgiant. We have demonstrated that ${\delta}{\nu}_{env}$ has highly correlations with global parameters - ${\Delta}{\nu}$ and ${\nu}max$. We have also found the break of ${\delta}{\nu}_{env}-{\Delta}{\nu}$ and ${\nu}_{max}$ relations.
I present a simple scheme for the treatment of gravitational interactions on galactic scales. In anal- ogy with known mechanisms of quantum field theory, I assume ad hoc that gravitation is mediated by virtual exchange particles-gravitons-with very small but non-zero masses. The resulting den- sity and mass profiles are proportional to the mass of the gravitating body. The mass profile scales with the centripetal acceleration experienced by a test particle orbiting the central mass, but this comes at the cost of postulating a universal characteristic acceleration $a_0{\approx}4.3{\times}10^{-12}msec^{-2}$ (or $8{\pi}a_0{\approx}1.1{\times}10^{-10}msec^{-2}$). The scheme predicts the asymptotic flattening of galactic rotation curves, the Tully-Fisher/Faber-Jackson relations, the mass discrepancy-acceleration relation of galaxies, the surface brightness-acceleration relation of galaxies, the kinematics of galaxy clusters, and "Renzo's rule" correctly; additional (dark) mass components are not required. Given that it is based on various ad-hoc assumptions and given further limitations, the scheme I present is not yet a consistent theory of gravitation; rather, it is a "toy model" providing a convenient scaling law that simplifies the description of gravity on galactic scales.
Early-type galaxies (ETGs) are supposed to follow the virial relation $M=k_e{\sigma}^2R_e/G$, with M being the mass, σ* being the stellar velocity dispersion, Re being the effective radius, G being Newton's constant, and ke being the virial factor, a geometry factor of order unity. Applying this relation to (a) the ATLAS3D sample of Cappellari et al. (2013) and (b) the sample of Saglia et al. (2016) gives ensemble-averaged factors 〈ke〉 = 5.15 ± 0.09 and 〈ke〉 = 4.01 ± 0.18, respectively, with the difference arising from different definitions of effective velocity dispersions. The two datasets reveal a statistically significant tilt of the empirical relation relative to the theoretical virial relation such that $M{\propto}({\sigma}^2_*R_e)^{0.92}$. This tilt disappears when replacing Re with the semi-major axis of the projected half-light ellipse, a. All best-fit scaling relations show zero intrinsic scatter, implying that the mass plane of ETGs is fully determined by the virial relation. Whenever a comparison is possible, my results are consistent with, and confirm, the results by Cappellari et al. (2013). The difference between the relations using either a or Re arises from a known lack of highly elliptical high-mass galaxies; this leads to a scaling (1 - ϵ ) ∝ M0.12, with ϵ being the ellipticity and $R_e=a\sqrt[]{1-{\epsilon}}$. Accordingly, a, not Re, is the correct proxy for the scale radius of ETGs. By geometry, this implies that early-type galaxies are axisymmetric and oblate in general, in agreement with published results from modeling based on kinematics and light distributions.

The effects of adiabatic flame temperature and mass flux on deuterium fluoride(DF) chemical laser performance were investigated. The power flux and specific power, which are important parameters containing the information of scaling effects of laser device magnitude, and chemical efficiency were selected as a judging parameter of DF laser performance. For the specific power, it was decreased by the increase of power flux of DF laser. Higher the adiabatic flame temperature of atomic fluorine generator, higher the chemical efficiency of DF laser was changed. It seems that the mass flux effect on the chemical efficiency is not remarkable.
Hot leg break LBLOCA(Large Break LOCA) had a potential to be a containment maximum pressure accident in YGN3&4, which was induced from excessive conservatism in the CE analysis methodology of mass and energy release. This study conducted mass and energy release experiment for the hot leg break LBLOCA during post blowdown with an integral test facility, SNUF(Seoul National University Facility). This facility simulated YGN 3&4 with volume ratio of 1/1140 based on Ishii's three level scaling. Experiment showed that SI(Safety Injection) water refilled cold leg first and core later. SI water was vaporized in the core, which resulted in the repressurization of reactor. This increase of pressure drove the water in cold leg to flow up half height of U tubes. However, since the water was drained back soon, the release through the SG side broken section by evaporation was negligibly small. This study also provided experimental assessment of RELAP5 results by KAERI for the release through the SG side broken section.

This paper reported the results of mock-up test on mass concrete for transfer girder using setting time difference of super retarding agent(SRA). According to test results, two mock-up structures were made. Plain concrete without placing layer reached maximum temperature after 24hours since placement and caused surface hydration cracks at top section. However, concrete with placing layer reached maximum temperature after 72hours and surface temperature was higher than center temperature, which did not cause surface crack. After form removing, no crack was observed at side surface of plain concrete, while concrete using SRA at mid section had surface scaling and settling crack. According to coring results, concrete with placing layer had a penetration crack from top section to bottom section. Therefore, the setting time difference method to reduce hydration heat will have difficulty in applying the mass concrete for transfer girder.
