Purpose: North Korea is a very close country geographically and culturally, but the nation has been one of the most secretive countries in the world. However, in recent years, North Korean society has been known to rapidly change its economic environment as well as its diplomatic and political environment. Since the gaining power of Jong-un, Kim in 2012, the North Korean government has implemented a new set of economic policies. North Korea has embraced limited market systems and mechanisms that have become a part of the formal planned economy. This study is concerned with the recent changes in the market and marketing activities of the communist country. It also seeks to gain an understanding of the changing market behavior of North Korean consumers. The purpose of this study is to enhance understanding of the market environments of North Korea and to provide appropriate implications for practitioners and researchers. Research design, data and methodology: Academic access to information that can understand North Korea's reality is minimal. Therefore, this study was conducted based on a qualitative analysis of secondary data. The existing literature on North Korea, related news and reports were the basis of the analysis. Analysis of secondary data related to North Korea was the main methodology of the study. Results: The official ideology of North Korea rejected most aspects of marketing, and yet there were marketing activities in North Korea. This article focuses on the development of market and marketing activities in North Korea during the recent years. This study indirectly confirmed that the market function is being activated in North Korea, and the basic functions of marketing such as advertisement, price, and distribution are being formed. In this process, the activation of the 'Jangmadang(market)' played a significant role. Conclusions: Research shows that North Korea is rapidly developing its own market function. In addition, marketing activities such as advertising and pricing strategies seem to be unprecedentedly active. However, due to changes in the political environment, the future development of North Korea's marketing is still in flux. Efforts to improve mutual understanding through continuous research are required.

Specifically, we derived key evaluation items of C-P-N-D ecosystem perspective through literature review. In addition, we analyzed the implications by evaluating the importance depending on AHP after derived items were modified and classified together with the publisher working group. As the results of analysis, experts considered price(0.785), quality(0.149) and service(0.066) as the important items among three items derived as the primary upper class. A total of 23 factors were derived as the secondary lower class. The importance depending on C-P-N-D areas is as follows: contents(0.43), platform(0.35), device(0.11) and network(0.05). This paper identifies challenging factors that hinder the successful settlement of the MyData industry, which is drawing global attention, and it analyzes the priority of solutions. To this end, a mixed-methodology including analytic network process technique was borrowed step-by-step to identify variables, analyze them, and provide interpretations. From the first step, the study found that the market aspect was the most important for the success of the K-MyData business, and the release of interesting representative services was found to be the easiest way to inspire market growth. Government and business-related persons must observe the principles of MyData while tackling these obstacles. It is also necessary for the government to be sensitive to changes in the environment as a focal actor. Doing so will lead to data industry activation and will help guarantee of rights of data subjects in a balanced manner. Finally, it is notable that technical barriers now have the lowest priority. Although technology is important, MyData business must also overcome market, socio-cultural, and institutional challenges. The study selected Korea as its research target, but it is expected to provide useful insights to other countries that are planning MyData business similar to Korea.

The purpose of the current research is to develop a strategy to activate the domestic Cloud Date Center (CDC), which allows various cloud services as a fundamental infrastructure in the rising cloud market. Specifically, the paper is proceeded based on three steps; (1) in the first step, the authors analyzes the overall CDC market including leading domestic as well as international CDC companies (e.g., EMC, HP, IBM, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, SK C&C) focusing on revenue, firm size, employee numbers, total energy consumption, market share, and so on. (2) In the next step, the study derives strengths and weaknesses based on the results of the first step. These strengths and weaknesses help us to deduct the factors which should be reinforced or complimented for the domestic CDC's competitive advantage in the global CDC market. Finally, considering these strengths and weaknesses in the second step, the authors suggest a strategy to activate the domestic CDC. Thus, this research will focus on the development of the strategic direction for the domestic CDC, which includes a checklist of strengths and weaknesses by analyzing the overall CDC market situation.
