Logistic regression model for major separation rate

  • This paper deals with logistic regression models for analysing separation rates from majors. The model building procedure shows how to incoporate the effects of some factors causing from three-way nested sampling scheme and discusses what type of characteristics as independent variables directly affecting the rates should be considered.

  • This study was performed to develop the method for producing industrial coal sources by cleaning Korean anthracite. Laboratory hindered-settling separation column was set and three coal samples were used for tests. Tests were conducted to evaluate the effects of the major operating variables, teeter water flow rate and relative column pressure (set point). Additional tests were performed to elevate the yield and properties of the products using air bubble injecting process. In results, nice products were obtained with high teeter water flow rate and air bubble injection. Also, model of continuous hindered-settling separation process was established to assist the evaluation of the equipment and several operating variables, such as dispersion, teeter water flow rate, feeding rate, etc.

치과 기공사의 이직에 관한 실태조사 (Research on the Actual Condition with Regard to the Separation of Dental Technicians)

  • This research was to investigate and study on 92 Dental Technicians who had had some experience of working or being employed at dental craft-shops or craft-rooms in Seoul area and had transferred to other types of occupation, with regard to their reasons for changing their profession. For an approach to the study, some questionnaires and interview including 3 aspects of in quiriesmental, economic and social backgrounds-were administered, and major findings are as follows ; 1. The ages in which transferring to other kinds of job happened occurred mostly from 20 to 30(78.26%) an a group of subjects whose ages ranged from 20 to 30 years old. And, with regard to their experience of working or being employed at dental craft-shops or craftrooms, the transfer of their profession to the other kinds mosty happened in a group of subjects(94.56%) whose experience of working in the dental field is less than 4 years. 2. The reason of transfer with reference to the mental background was mostly mattered in a group that expressed "Excessive Work Duties"(34.78%), and most lowly mattered in a group of subjets who had "Certain Relations with Dentists"(8.70%). Thus, it appeared that the biggest reason of transfer by the mental background was, due to the excessive duty work, not to have Sufficient time to be usualized by dental technicians for their own purpose. 3. With reference to the economical background, a group that declared there was "No Wage Standards in Ratio to Their Labor" was the most in the separation rate as shown 45.56%. And, a group suspecting "No Guarantee for Their Living after Retirement" Showed a separation rate, 9.78%. In other words, the reason for transfer was that they did not receive due wage according to their amount of labor. 4. With reference to the social background, a group making a subject for no good working environments or conditions had a separation rate, 41.30%, which was the most among others, and a group with a subject of "The Rarity of Employment because of Excessive Supply of Dental Technicians" had the rate, 10.87%, which was the lowest. This meant that the major cause of transfer by the social background was a phenomenon for dental technicans to escape from unclean working places.

Synchrotron SAXS Study on the Micro-Phase Separation Kinetics of Segmented Block Copolymer

  • The phase transition behavior isothermal micro-phase separation kinetics of polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer were studied using the synchrotron X-ray scattering(SAXS) method. The structural changes occurring during heating period were investigated by determining the changes of the one-dimensional correlation function, interfacial thickness and Porod constant. Based on the abrupt increases of the domain spacing and interfacial thickness, a major structural change occurring well below the melting transition temperature is suggested. Those changes are explained in terms of melting of the thermodynamically unstable hard domains or/and the interdiffusion of the hard and soft segments in the interfacial regions. SAXS profile changes during the micro-phase separation process were also clearly observed at various temperatures and the separation rate was found to be sensitively affected by the temperature. The peak position of maximum scattering intensity stayed constant during the entire course of the phase separation process. The scattering data during the isothermal phase separation process was interpreted with the Cahn-Hilliard diffusion equation. The experimental data obtained during the early stage of the phase separation seems to satisfy the Cahn-Hilliard spinodal mechanism. The transition temperature obtained from the extrapolation of the diffusion coefficient to zero value turned out to be about 147$\pm$$2^{\circ}$, which is close to the order-disorder transition temperature obtained from the Porod analysis. The transition temperature was also estimated from the inveriant growth rate. By extrapolating the inveriant growth rate to zero, a transition temperature of about 145$\pm$$\pm$$2^{\circ}$ was obtained.

데이터마이닝 기법을 이용한 전공이탈자 분류를 위한 성능평가 (Evaluation on Performance for Classification of Students Leaving Their Majors Using Data Mining Technique)

  • Recently most universities are suffering from students leaving their majors. In order to make a countermeasure for reducing major separation rate, many universities are trying to find a proper solution. As a similar endeavor, this paper uses decision tree algorithm which is one of the data mining techniques which conduct grouping or prediction into several sub-groups from interested groups. This technique can analyze a feature of type on students leaving their majors. The dataset consists of 5,115 features through data selection from total data of 13,346 collected from a university in Kangwon-Do during seven years(2000.3.1 $\sim$ 2006.6.30). The main objective of this study is to evaluate performance of algorithms including CHAID, CART and C4.5 for classification of students leaving their majors with ROC Chart, Lift Chart and Gains Chart. Also, this study provides values about accuracy, sensitivity, specificity using classification table. According to the analysis result, CART showed the best performance for classification of students leaving their majors.

데이터마이닝 기법을 이용한 전공이탈자 예측모형 (Predicting Model of Students Leaving Their Majors Using Data Mining Technique)

  • Nowadays most colleges are confronting with a serious problem because many students have left their majors at the colleges. In order to make a countermeasure for reducing major separation rate, many universities are trying to find a proper solution. As a similar endeavor, the objective of this paper Is to find a predicting model of students leaving their majors. The sample for this study was chosen from a university in Kangwon-Do during seven years(2000.3.1 $\sim$ 2006. 6.30). In this study, the ratio of training sample versus testing sample among partition data was controlled as 50% : 50% for a validation test of data division. Also, this study provides values about accuracy, sensitivity, specificity about three kinds of algorithms including CHAID, CART and C4.5. In addition, ROC chart and gains chart were used for classification of students leaving their majors. The analysis results were very informative since those enable us to know the most important factors such as semester taking a course, grade on cultural subjects, scholarship, grade on majors, and total completion of courses which can affect students leaving their majors.

화학적 수문곡선 분리기법을 이용한 낙동강 최상류 유역 기저유출량 산정 (Base Flow Estimation in Uppermost Nakdong River Watersheds Using Chemical Hydrological Curve Separation Technique)

  • Effective science-based management of the basin water resources requires an understanding of the characteristics of the streams, such as the baseflow discharge. In this study, the base flow was estimated in the two watersheds with the least artificial factors among the Nakdong River watersheds, as determined using the chemical hydrograph separation technique. The 16-year (2004-2019) discontinuous observed stream flow and electrical conductivity data in the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) monitoring network were extended to continuous daily data using the TANK model and the 7-parameter log-linear model combined with the minimum variance unbiased estimator. The annual base flows at the upper Namgang Dam basin and the upper Nakdong River basin were both analyzed to be about 56% of the total annual flow. The monthly base flow ratio showed a high monthly deviation, as it was found to be higher than 0.9 in the dry season and about 0.46 in the rainy season. This is in line with the prevailing common sense notion that in winter, most of the stream flow is base flow, due to the characteristics of the dry season winter in Korea. It is expected that the chemical-based hydrological separation technique involving TANK and the 7-parameter log-linear models used in this study can help quantify the base flow required for systematic watershed water environment management.

시판(市販) 담즙(膽汁) 생약(生藥)중 주요(主要) 담즙산(膽汁酸)의 분리(分離)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Separation of Major Bile Acids in Commercial Crude Bile Drugs)

  • High performance liquid chromatographic separation is described for the analysis of bile acids after hydrolysis in seven commercial crude bile drugs and ox and pig galls. They are simultaneously separated with HPLC mobile phase of acetonitrile/0.5% ammonium carbonate (pH 6.7) (25.5 : 74.5) at a flow rate $(1.0{\rightarrow}1.5ml/min.)$ and differential refractometer. The linearity of calibration curve and recovery test are good by using the method. The analysis of major bile acids in seven commercial crude bile drugs using the described method is presented. Sample no. 1 of them is similar to separation pattern of ox gall. Sample no. 6 of them is supposed to be genuine bear gall on the basis of identification of ursodeoxycholic acid. Sample $no.\;2{\sim}5$ and 7 of them are supposed to be pig gall on the basis of identification of hyodeoxycholic acid which is a characteristic component of pig gall.

  • The technology of malodorous substances treatment was classified physical separation and chemical destruction. This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of malodorous substances treatment with the change of operating conditions from the ozone generator. The major results of this study were as follows : Removal efficiency by additive ozone rate was measured $NH_3$:95%(ozone additive rate : 2), $H_2S$ : 97%(ozone additive rate:4), $CH_3SH$ : 96%(ozone additive rate : 3), $(CH_3)_2S_2$ : 97%(ozone additive rate:5), $(CH_3)_3N$ : 95%(ozone additive rate : 1), $CH_3CHO$ : 95%(ozone additive rate : 2), $C_6H_5CHCH_2$ : 95%(ozone additive rate : 2).

  • $Tr{\ddot{o}}ger$'s base 중 (+)-$Tr{\ddot{o}}ger$'s base는 항혈전제로 Thromboxane A2($T{\times}A2$) Synthase의 효소 활성을 저해하여 동맥경화의 치료제로 널리 사용되고 있다. 따라서 (+)-$Tr{\ddot{o}}ger$'s base를 라세미 혼합물로부터 순수하게 분리하는 것은 중요한 연구대상이다. 하지만 실험을 통한 (+)-$Tr{\ddot{o}}ger$'s base의 순수한 분리에는 많은 시간과 비용이 필요하게 되므로 분리 효율의 향상에 많은 어려움이 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하고자 Aspen Chromatography 전산 모사는 여러 조건하에서 직접 실험을 하지 않는 효율적인 시뮬레이션 방법으로서 분리 효율 등을 예측할 수 있으므로 생산성 향상에 드는 시간과 비용을 절약할 수 있다. Aspen Chromatography simulator로 $Tr{\ddot{o}}ger$'s base의 주입량과 이동상 속도를 변화시켜 TB(-)와 TB(+)의 분리도, 수율 그리고 다양한 흡착식을 비교하였다. TB(-)와 TB(+)의 분리도와 순수한 수율은 이동상 속도 0.25 mL/min일 때 가장 높았다. 고정상과 이동상 농도사이의 관계식을 표시하는 등온흡착식을 변화하여 전산모사한 결과 Ideal Adsorbed Solution(IAS) Statistical Langmuir 등온흡착식이 분리 효율에 좋은 결과를 가져왔다.
