Maintenance Limit Renewal Policy for Inferiority System based on Opportunity Cost (기회비용을 고려한 열화시스템의 보전한계갱신정책)

  • This study deals with the derivative adverse minimum for inferiority system depends on continuose operating under infinite planning horizon. This planning will be accomplished by maintenance limit renewal policy in consideration of opportunity cost which affects system by failure during operation periods and expected cost under nomal operation states. By the results, we will be expected incresing total efficiency for the system by optimal renewal policy.

  • The purpose of Reliability Centered Maintenance(Hereafter, RCM) is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of preventive maintenance by applying the improvement plan after analysis of existing preventive maintenance. To accomplish this, it is required to collect the failure data for equipments during operation, and to carry out the quantitative criticality analysis for each equipment. This paper shows that the case study of RCM criticality analysis based on the accumulative failure data and following improvement activity for KORAIL AIRPORT RAILROAD's E&M system.

  • The use of the gas turbine for power supply is increasing recently. Accordingly, the operation and maintenance cost of the gas turbine is gradually increasing and the various efforts to cut the cost are needed. For an operation and maintenance cost saving of the gas turbine, reductions of the new purchasing charge and the reproduction repair cost of the hot gas parts are required through more effective operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts. The hot gas parts are the main parts of the gas turbine and they are replaced with the periodic. In this research, efficient operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts were presented with the cases. The methods were analyzed and verified based on real data and the cases for improving a lifetime were utilized in the field.

Maintenance Case and Cost Analysis for University Facilities (대학시설물의 유지보수 건수 및 비용 분석)

  • Although the scale and number of university facilities have increased, the maintenance of these facilities has not been efficient as maintenance costs incurred during facility operation periods, as well as management time, have not been sufficiently considered. In this study, the maintenance record data of national universities was compared and analyzed to analyze factors that incur maintenance costs according to the uses and costs of the facilities. According to the results, the number of cases of maintenance and repair work for basic educational facilities was shown to be the largest, accounting for 79%. The number of maintenance and repair work occurred according to work type was examined. According to the results, the highest ratio of maintenance and repair work occurred in the field of construction, specifically, the maintenance costs required for facility supplementation accounted for the highest ratio. Maintenance costs per unit area decreased over time in the newer university facilities, while showing a tendency to increase in older university facilities. However, there were cases where maintenance costs did not show any trends due to factors such as the limited maintenance budgets owing to the characteristics of public service facilities and facilities in the stage of deterioration or destruction after the stage of stabilization. This study is considered to be helpful for efficient university facility maintenance plans and budget calculations.

  • Burn-in is a widely used method to eliminate the initial failures. Preventive maintenance policy such as block replacement with minimal repair at failure is often used in field operation. In this, paper burn-in and maintenance policy are taken into consideration at the same time. The cost of a minimal repair is assumed to be a non-decreasing function of its age. The problems of determining optimal burn-in times and optimal maintenance policy are considered.

  • Delayed repair to the failure of weapon system can cause enormous damages to military operation. Various materials like diagnostic equipment, general and special tools, technical manuals(maintenance manual and illustrated parts breakdown) and drawing documents are required for maintenance. For existing weapon systems the distributed environment of these various materials reduces the maintenance effectiveness of maintenance crew. In this paper, to provide the information of maintenance procedures and supply to the maintenance crew we develope a digital interactive electronic technical manual of the technical documents which can be used easily in computer through question and answer method and improve maintenance effectiveness and minimized repairing time.

  • The crane and the master-slave manipulators (MSM) are widely used as a remote handling device in nuclear facilities such as the hot cell. The equipment to be installed in the hot cell should be optimally placed within the workspace of the wall-mounted slave manipulator for the maintenance operation.   • Urban transit operation corporations perform repetitive work to investigate the EMU, electric multiple unit, by some fixed maintenance cycle. The quality of maintenance work usually depends on workers' know-how. Though some information to support the maintenance work is digitalized and provided to workers, it is not great help to them because of its non systematic structure. The information includes drawings, manuals, work results, work history, fault history, etc. The maintenance workers want to access the information anytime anywhere, and make an effect to promote the efficiency of maintenance for EMU. But it is difficult to achieve that without some structured information system which is able to use in work area. So we develop maintenance information system for EMU for about 4 years from 2002 to 2005. In this paper we present the configuration and characteristics of this system, and the results of the evaluation test. We install the system in two depots, Changdong and Jichuk, belonged to SeoulMetro to evaluate its efficiency and estimate its economic benefits.

  • Recently, the R&D of weapon systems has been strengthened in terms of economic cost management throughout the entire life cycle from performance. This study proposes the method for setting the optimal maintenance concept based on RAM-C in weapon system acquisition stage by calculating the operation & maintenance cost as well as reliability, availability, and maintainability. First, we design a simulation model for analysis of weapon system logistic supportability. In addition, information such as weapon system Part Breakdown Structure, operation & maintenance system, cost, and etc for simulation analysis, is applied. Based on the obtained simulation results, the optimal plan is selected among alternatives designed with various maintenance concepts through normalization and weight setting. It is expected to be of technical help in the application of RAM-C in the weapon system acquisition stage.

  • In the aspect of the nature of aircraft maintenance work on divisible tasks carried out by a wide range of operation and expertise, any information transmission problems will not only cause a threat to flight safety but also reduce productivity by keeping the team from fulfilling its mission of delivering aircraft with airworthiness. In this regard, this study firstly identify the current status of information of aircraft maintenance and factors disturbing information transmission. Then, this article also find out the level of information culture of the AMT(Aircraft Maintenance Technicians) and problems in using information. Finally, suggestions on the model of the positive information culture in a field of aircraft maintenance through efficient use of the information including safety will be followed.
