  • Magnetic garnet films of (YSmLuCa)$_3$(FeGe)$\_$5/O$\_$12/ have been grown by the liquid phase eqitaxy method on the substrate of non-magnetic garnet Gd$_3$Ga$\_$5/O$\_$12/. The variation of Sm ion concentration were varied 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, mole/formula unit respectively. The magnetic properties of the samples for the bubble magnetic materials, such as, line width ΔH of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR), magnetic saturation induction 4$\pi$Ms, wall mobility u$\_$w/ uniaxial magnetic anisotropy energy Ku, were measured and discussed the relations between these properties. The line width ΔH decreases with increasing 4$\pi$Ms, and with decreasing Sm concentration. The anisotropy energy Ku increases not only with increasing Sm ion concentration, but also increasing 4$\pi$Ms. The value of wall mobility u$\_$w/ increase with increasing 4$\pi$Ms and decreases with increasing Sm concentration. We define a physical constant Eι from the fact that the product of 4$\pi$Ms and ΔH is constant with dimension of energy density. The Eι is dependent only on Sm concentration.density. The Eι is dependent only on Sm concentration.

  • Magnetic leakage flux which is generated from the levitation magnets, linear induction motors, and guide magnets of a MagLev(Magnetic Levitation) system is directly related to inter - system EMI, intra - system EMI, and biological effects. In this paper, the magnetic leakage flux from MagLev vechicles designed by Korea Resarch Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering was calculated considering the various parameters which influence ma- gnetic field intensity around the MagLev system. Based on the calculated field intensity, the thickness of shielding material and shielding position for MagLev floor and side walls are calculated, taking into account the shielding effectiveness of a shield with minimum weight. For the nonuniform shielding method derived from the above procedure, the weight of a shield con- sisting of floor and side walls shielding can be reduced to more 50% than uniform shielding method.

  • In this study the (Alnico, Sm-Co) bonded magnets were fabricated by mixing the Sm-Co added alnico alloy powders with epoxy resin and binder, appropriately. Also, the hybrid ring magnets of (Alnico, Sm-Co)/Sr-ferrite were fabricated by coupling the Sr-ferrite composite layer with an (Alnico, Sm-Co) magnet. The magnetic properties of (Alnico, Sm-Co) ring magnets were varied with the amount of Sm-Co powders. The addition of Sm-Co powders increased a remanent induction($B_r$) and coercive force($_BH_C$), while decreasing a surface flux density and repulsive distance. The surface flux density and repulsive distance for the (Alnico, Sm-Co) ring magnet increased with a magnetizing voltage up to about 160 V and reached an apparent saturation point. Also, the measurements of temperature and moisture characteristics showed that the surface flux densities of N-S poles and repulsive distance decreased a little within 4% after 10 days passed.

  • Fe-Cr alloys with different Cr contents were prepared by an arc melting technique. The alloys were isochronally aged in the range from $400^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$ with $50^{\circ}C$ steps with a holding time of 100 hours. The ageing produced embrittlement in the alloys due to either the formation of a Cr-rich ${\alpha}'$ phase or a $\sigma$ phase at high temperatures. Magnetic Hysteresis Loop (MHL) and Micro-Vickers hardness were measured at each step to correlate the magnetic and mechanical properties. Coercivity and hardness of the alloys were increased and remanence decreased up to 500-$550^{\circ}C$ due to formation of a Cr-rich ${\alpha}'$ phase. Beyond 500-$550^{\circ}C$ range, the coercivity and hardness decreased and remanence increased due to the coarsening or dissolution of the Cr-rich ${\alpha}'$ phase. In the Fe-48% Cr alloy, formation of the $\sigma$ phase at $700^{\circ}C$ reduced the maximum induction of the alloy significantly.

  • The Lorentz force distribution of a high $T_c$ superconducting tape with increasing transport currents in magnetic field ($H_a$) was visualized. The external magnetic field was applied normally to the coated conductor tape surface after zero-field cooling, and the transport current ($I_a$) was increased stepwise from 0 to 90 % of the values of the critical current ($I_c$ ($H_a$)) at applied filed, Ha. The field distribution (H(x)) near the sample surface across the tape width (2w) was measured using the scanning Hall probe method. Applying an inversion to the measured field distribution, we obtained the underlying current distribution (J(x)), from which the magnetic induction, B(x) was calculated with Biot-Savart law. Then Lorentz force per unit length was calculated using F(x)=J(x)${\times}$B(x), which appears to be very inhomogeneous along the tape width due to the complicated distributions of J(x) and B(x).

  • A search coil magnetometer (SCM) is a common equipment to observe energy transmission and vibrations in space physics, enabling measurements across a wide frequency range of up to tens of kilohertz. This study proposes the designs of a magnetic core that allows a low-mass sensor and improves its performance: a rod core, sheet-stacked core, and rolling-sheet core. Subsequently, the performance of each sensor was investigated. The sheet-stacked core using the cobalt-based alloy exhibited the highest sensitivity, although it exhibited instability beyond 20 kHz. In contrast, the rod and rolling-sheet core sensors demonstrated stability in the magnetic field measurements (10 Hz-40 kHz). Moreover, the noise equivalent magnetic induction (NEMI) of the rod- and rolling-sheet core sensors were 0.014 pT Hz-1/2 and 0.012 pT Hz-1/2 at 1 kHz, respectively. The rolling-sheet core with high relative permeability achieved a mass reduction of over three times that of the rod core while exhibiting sufficient sensitivity.

  • This paper deals with the measurement and analysis of the induced voltages and magnetic fields caused by the operation of home appliances. The induced voltage and magnetic field measurement circuit used in this work consists of the induction coil, the operational preamplifier and the active integrator. Television set and monitors for personal computer cause strong magnetic fields rich in harmonics and high induced voltages by using the switching power suppliers. The strong magnetic field intensity and high induced voltage were created by 14" television set, and their values are 2.1 [$\mu$Tp-p]and 140 [mVp-p]at the distance of 0.4 [m], respectively. However, the induced voltage per unit magnetic field intensity was created by 17" monitor for personal computer and the measured data was approximately 560[mV/$\mu$T]at the same distance. distance.

  • Induction motor torque is the reactive power is needed which corresponds to the exciting current to generate the magnetic flux as the product of current and flux. For use in the method of supplying the required reactive power to the induction motor power factor correction apparatus using a lot of ways to supply in place of the power supply side, when using a power factor compensation device can reduce the apparent power, the power factor can be improved. However, the distance to the emergency generator transformers or motors from the motor capacity is smaller but short and difficult to maneuver the theory and practice of the operating characteristics of the starting characteristics of the motor used a lot of large industrial plants were measured and analyzed. Therefore, this study investigated the motor starting Analysis and interpretation for the relationship with the large motor starting torque and speed during motor starting.

  • Electric motor efficient improvement from home appliance field is important to the effect reducing the energy consumption. But the electric motor design/analysis technology is still insufficient. Specially the electric motor design/analysis technology of satisfying characteristic of both the induction motor and the synchronous motor such as Line start permanent motor. Therefore the electric motor design/analysis technology is urgently demanded reliability. This paper proposes the sing1e-phase line-start permanent magnet motor to develop the motor it with be able to alternate the sing-phase induction motor it is a refrigerator compressor motor. The sing-phase induction motor is analyzed in the steady state. And we have a certification test to compare our single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor with the sing-phase induction motor. In order to improve the performance, the stator of the single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor is same as the stator of the sing-phase induction motor and changes the rotor form and has the permanent magnet. It used the Finite Element Method(FEM) which is widely used with electronic-magnetic field numerical analysis method.

  • This paper presents a characteristics of linear induction motor considering airgap variation for railway transit in order to achieve high performance of the vehicle. The operating principle of a LIM(Linear induction motor) is identical to a rotary induction motor. Space-time variant magnetic fields are generated by the primary part across the airgap and induce the electro-motive force(EMF) in the secondary part, a conducting sheet. This EMF generates the eddy currents, which interact with the airgap flux and so produce the thrust force known as Loren's force. Even though the operating principal is exactly same as a rotary motor, the linear motor has a finite length of the primary or secondary parts and it causes static and dynamic end-effect which is the discontinuous airgap flux phenomenon. This end-effect causes the deterioration of the system performance, especially in high-speed operation. Another problem is that construction tolerance restricts the minimum airgap in order to prevent a collision between the primary part and the secondary reaction plate. More over, as the airgap length is getting smaller, the attraction force between the primary part and secondary parts is getting larger dramatically and the attraction force would be another friction against propulsion. Therefore, it is necessary to figure out the characteristics of linear induction motor considering airgap variation in order to achieve high performance of the vehicle. The dynamic model of LIM taking into account end-effects is derived. Then the modified mechanical load equation considering the effect of the attraction and thrust force according to the airgap variation is analyzed. The simulation results are presented to show the effect of the LIM according to the airgap variation.
