A Study on the Elimination of Temporary overvoltage Due to Ferroresonance at Gas Insulated Switchgear (Gas 색연(絶綠) 개폐장치(開閉裝置)의 철공진(鐵共振) 제어대책(制御對策)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This paper describes the analysis results on the PT ferroresonance at 154 kV GIS (gas Insulated substation by EMTP(Electro- magnetic Transient Program). We had simulated the PT ferroresonance between a potential transformer(PT) and an open circuit breaker's grading capacitance. The ferroresonance leads to very large power frequency overvoltages on PT bus and subsequent insulation failure. The large power can be supplied to the PT by the high voltage on the opened circuit due to the grading capacitance and equivalent capacitance of the buses during the ferroresonance. The damping circuit connected on the secondary winding were considered in the model. The actual countermeasure include a saturable inductor and a resistor series-mounted, but the 2 ohms of damping resistance was used in the computationl model.

  • In these days the Vacuum Circuit Breaker(VCB) is used in most medium voltage level because VCB has merits of simple structure, long life, free maintenance and environment friendly characteristics. Most of VCBs adopt mechanical spring drive mechanism to operate vacuum interrupter, but this mechanism is composed of many components and needs frequent maintenance works. In this paper, we study about the VCB drive mechanism with Permanent Magnet Actuator (PMA). Design methods and design flows about PMA are presented. The magnetic equivalent circuit is used for elementary and detailed design to determine the size of PMA. Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis is performed to evaluate the behavior characteristics of PMA in both static and transient state. Finally we manufacture sample PMA and verify FEM analysis through experiments.

  • In this paper, a novel stator hybrid excited doubly salient permanent magnet (SHEDS-PM) brushless machine with a special magnetic bridge is proposed for the first time. The originality of this machine is purposely to add a magnetic bridge in shunt with each PM pole, which not only maintains the stator lamination in its entireness, but also amplifies the effect of DC field flux on PM flux. An equivalent magnetic circuit is presented to clarify the novelty. Based on the 2-D finite element analysis, the static characteristics of the SHEDS-PM machine, namely phase flux linkage, back-EMF, cogging torque, winding inductance and static torque are deduced. The corresponding results on a prototype machine illustrate that the proposed machine is promising for application to electric vehicles.

  • A computational method for analysis of the 3 dimensional electro-magnetic induction problems has been developed. The developed method is capable of modeling the induced current and analyzing its characteristics using only scalar Potential at each node. A benchmark model of asymmetrical conductor with a hole is analyzed to verify the application of the developed method. The calculated value of magnetic flux density are compared with the measured value, and the results indicate that the developed method is valid. Also, Comparing with 3-D finite element method (FEM) results, we conformed effectiveness of the developed method for the accuracy and computation times.

  • Usually, the thrust of a Linear Pulse Motor(LPM) is calculated by magnetic equivalent circuit modelling method. Analytical thrust deviation exists to calculating magnetic flux density by using Permeance Modelling Method, Finite Element Method, and Velocity Electric Motive Force method. For calculating accuracy thrust by using these every method, tire thrust is calculated and compared by Lorentz Force method, Magnetic coenergy Method, and Maxwell correspondence forte Method. And that becomes Important factor at the comparison of each capacity and parameter of motor. So this study wants to compare and analyze measurement data and calculating data of the static thrust of LPM. and then we can get more accuracy method, calculating the static thrust of LPM.

  • This paper presents a method of reducing cogging torque and improving average torque by changing the dead zone angle of trapezoidal magnetization distribution of rotor magnet in ring type. Because brushless d.c. motor has 3D shape of overhang, 3D analysis should be used for computation of its magnet field. In this paper, Three Dimensional Equivalent Magnetic Circuit Network method (3DEMCN) which can calculate an accurate 3D magnetic field has been introduced. The method has an advantage that nonlinear magnetic phenomena can be considered and the cogging torque analyses requesting the rotation of the rotor can be performed by the variation of magnetization distribution without remesh.

  • This paper presents the magnetic fields shielding properties of the light rail transit which are produced by the ripple-shaped currents in the power lines. To analyze these properties, the equivalent circuit model of the DC power supply system at the light rail transit system was induced by MATLAB-SIMULINK, and with the calculated results of the ripple-shaped currents, the magnetic fields shielding properties of the light rail transit were analyzed. The results are as follows. First The frequency of the ripple-shaped currents is 200[Hz] and its magnitude is 1.5[A]. Second the magnetic fields produced by the ripple-shaped currents of the DC power supply systems are well shielded by the aluminum made body of the light rail transit.
