Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) transmission is now considered as one of essential techniques enabling high rate data transmissions in wireless communication systems. In addition, severe channel impairments in wireless systems should be compensated by using highly efficient forward error correction (FEC) codes. Turbo codes or low density parity check (LDPC) codes, using iterative decoding with soft decision detection information (SDDI), are the most common examples. The excellent performance of these codes should be conditioned on accurate estimation of SDDI from the MIMO detection process. In this paper, we propose a soft MIMO detection scheme using QR decomposition of channel matrices as an efficient means to provide accurate SDDI to the iterative decoder. The proposed method employed a two sequential soft MIMO detection process in order to reduce computational complexity. Compared to the soft ZF method calculating the direct inverse of the channel matrix, the complexity of the proposed method can be further reduced as the number of antennas is increased, without any performance degradation.

This paper presents a state observer design for a class of MTMO nonlinear systems that has a block triangular structure. For this, the extension of the existing design for SISO triangular systems to MIMO cases is provided. Since the gain of the proposed observer. depends on a nonlinear part as well as a linear one of a system, it improves the transient performance of the high gain ob-server. Also, by using a generalized similarity transformation for the error dynamics, it is shown that order some boundedness condi-tion, the proposed observer guarantees the global exponential convergence of the estimation error. Finally, we will give a simulation example to show the validity of our design methodology.

In this work, we propose an efficient selective retransmission method for multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems under orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signaling. A typical received OFDM frame may have some symbols in error, which results in a retransmission of the entire frame. Such a retransmission is often unnecessary, and to avoid this, we propose a method to selectively retransmit symbols that correspond to poor-quality subcarriers. We use the condition numbers of the subcarrier channel matrices of the MIMO-OFDM system as a quality measure. The proposed scheme is embedded in the modulation layer and is independent of conventional hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) methods. The receiver integrates the original OFDM and the punctured retransmitted OFDM signals for more reliable detection. The targeted retransmission results in fewer negative acknowledgements from conventional HARQ algorithms, which results in increasing bandwidth and power efficiency. We investigate the efficacy of the proposed method for optimal and suboptimal receivers. The simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method on throughput for MIMO-OFDM systems.

The capacity of MIMO systems is numerically analyzed when channel estimation error exists. The analysis shows that the capacity is influenced by Mean Square Error (MSE) as well as average Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Furthermore, in this paper we present the standard selecting a channel estimator suitable to a system owing to get a tolerable channel estimation error in a given average SNR and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show that the tolerable MSEs for 1 bps/Hz capacity loss are about 10$^{-2}$ and 10$^{-4}$ at n dB and 40 dB average SNR, respectively.
Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter and receiver, the optimization problem of maximizing the minimum Euclidean distance between two received signals by a linear precoder is considered for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with arbitrary dimensions and arbitraryary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) input. A general precoding framework is first presented based on the Gram matrix, which is shown for 2-dimensional (2-D) and 3-dimensional (3-D) MIMO systems when employing the ellipse expanding method (EEM). An extended precoder for high-dimensional MIMO system is proposed following the precoding framework, where the Gram matrix for high-dimensional precoding matrix can be generated through those chosen from 2-D and 3-D results in association with a permutation matrix. A complexity-reduced maximum likelihood detector is also obtained according to the special structure of the proposed precoder. The analytical and numerical results indicate that the proposed precoder outperforms the other precoding schemes in terms of both minimum distance and bit error rate (BER).
This paper presents a data-based stability analysis of a MIMO linear time-invariant discrete-time system, as an extension of the previous results for a SISO system. In the MIMO case, a similar discussion as in the case of a SISO system is also applied, except that an augmented input and output space is considered whose dimension is determined in relation to both the orders of the input and output vectors and the numbers of inputs and outputs. As certain subspaces of the input and output space, both output data space and closed-loop data space are defined, which contain all the behaviors of a system, respectively, with zero input in open-loop and with a control input in closed-loop. Then, we can derive the data-based stability conditions, in which the open-loop stability can be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the output data space and the closed-loop stability can also be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the closed-loop data space.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is an innovative technique to precisely control the phase of incident signals with the help of low-cost passive reflective elements. It shows excellent potential in the sixth generation of mobile communication systems, which not only extends wireless coverage but also boosts channel capacity. Considering that multipath propagation and a high number of antennas are involved in RIS in assisted mega multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, it suffers from severe channel fading and multipath effects, which in turn lead to signal instability and degradation of transmission performance. To overcome this obstacle, this essay suggests an improved gradient optimization algorithm to dynamically and optimally adjust the phase of the reflective elements to counteract channel fading and multipath effects as a strategy. In order to overcome the optimization problem of falling into local minima, this paper proposes an adaptive learning rate algorithm based on Adagrad improvement, which searches for the global optimal solution more efficiently and improves the robustness of the optimization algorithm. The suggested technique helps to enhance the estimate of channel efficiency of RIS-assisted large MIMO systems, according to simulation results.

The Nyquist robust stability margin is proposed as a measure of robust stability for systems with Affine TFM(Transfer Function Matrix) parametric uncertainty. The parametric uncertainty is modeled through a Affine TFM MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) description with dead-time, and the unstructured uncertainty through a bounded perturbation of Affine polynomials. Gershgorin's theorem and concepts of diagonal dominance and GB(Gershgorin Bands) are extended to include model uncertainty. Multiloop PI/PID controllers can be tuned by using a modified version of the Ziegler-Nichols (ZN) relations. Consequently, this paper provides sufficient conditions for the robustness of Affine TFM MIMO uncertain systems with dead-time based on Rosenbrock's DNA. Simulation examples show the performance and efficiency of the proposed multiloop design method for Affine uncertain systems with dead-time.

It is well known that Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems offer the promise of achieving very high spectrum efficiencies (many tens of bit/s/Hz) in a mobile environment. The gains in MIMO capacity are sensitive to the presence of spatial and temporal correlation introduced by the radio environment. In this paper, we examine how MIMO capacity is influenced by a number of factors e.g., a) temporal correlation b) various combinations of low/high spatial correlations at either end, c) combined spatial and temporal correlations. In all cases, we compare the channel capacity that would be achievable under independent fading. We investigate the behaviour of "capacity fades," examine how often the capacity experiences the fades, develop a method to determine level crossing rates and average fade durations and relate these to antenna numbers. We also evaluate the influence of channel correlation on the capacity autocorrelation and assess the fit of a Gaussian random process to the temporal capacity sequence. Finally we note that the particular spatial correlation structure of the MIMO channel is influenced by a large number of factors. For simplicity, it is desirable to use a single overall correlation measure which parameterizes the effect of correlation on capacity. We verify this single parameter concept by simulating a large number of different spatially correlated channels.
