  • The MIL-STD-1553 standard has been used for over 40 years as a data bus technology for high-reliability mobile systems. However, 1 Mbps transmission speed is absolutely insufficient to implement sensor data convergence, which is an essential requirement of modern aerospace systems. In this paper, we analyze the hierarchical structure of the MIL-STD-1553B version specification and describe several methods to increase the transmission speed without losing the advantages of the existing MIL-STD-1553 bus. In addition, we analyzed the R & D cases of the high-speed MIL-STD-1553 technology, which have been conducted in leading aerospace countries.

  • Two test standards to be applied for evaluating shielding effectiveness of HEMP protection facilities, MIL-STD-188-125-1 and IEEE std. 299, provide different test results in spite of the same facility. In particular, at the frequency range of 10 kHz~20 MHz, it is confirmed that the test results by the IEEE Std. 299 are about 20~30 dB lower than the evaluated results by MIL-STD-188-125-1. These results are due to the different measurement conditions specified in the two test standards. Therefore, IEEE Std. 299 can be applied for the shortening of test distance, but the required SE performance based on MIL-STD-188-125-1 must be modified.

  • This paper presents the comparison of climatic environmental tests of IEC Pub. 60068 and MIL-STD-810. Cold, dry heat, change of temperature, and heat-humidity cyclic tests are compared in terms of the types of tests and test severities. This study shows the difference between the standards, which will provide the useful information to the industries and be helpful in applying the standards.

  • In this paper, we design COMS system bus that the 1553 Data Bus is able to link all the units of the satellite managed by the SCU using one Prime Data Bus and on Redundant Data Bus. Also we analyze MIL-STD-1553B bus load and relevant exchange memory budgets in system bus of the COMS satellite. This data is used in the satellite mission and software design by system engineer.

  • This paper proposes a new method to estimate the striking velocity for ballistic limit velocity in MIL-STD-662F. The method from MIL-STD-662F needs relative air density, drag coefficient, form factor, ballistic coefficient for estimating striking velocity. So precedent studies are essential. However, the new method can estimate striking velocity only using measured velocities and distance between the screen and the target. To prove new method, we compared estimation of striking velocity from both the new method and the method from MIL-STD-662F on the basis of datain PRODAS. The new method shows bigger errors in some velocity ranges. But it could still calculate ballistic limit velocity. It also shows smaller errors in most velocity ranges.

  • This paper evaluates on the feasibility of MIL-STD-188-220 protocol as a medium access protocol over WNW(Wideband Network Waveform) by simulating and comparing with IEEE 802.11e-based protocol. WNW is newly designed waveform for next-generation broadband tactical communication system. This paper shows the feasibility of using the MIL-STD-188-220 protocol that shows better performance than IEEE 802.11e-based protocol on the particular environment.

  • In this paper, the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test standard is described, and the purpose and test configuration for the electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) test of the missile component and the missile system are confirmed. The test configuration and specifications are suggested by the configuration of the missile component and the missile system based on the US military standards MIL-STD-461F and MIL-STD-464C, and explained that the ungrounded state, the final operating state of the missile component and the missile system, was constructed. In addition, the methods for checking the steady state and the points to be considered during the immunity test were introduced.

  • In this paper, described a design result of bus interface modulo for multiple level MU-SID-1553 data bus network. In general, MIL-SID-1553 network is used for single level data bus topology. But, according to applied system's structure. multiple level bus architecture is required., And for his, micro processor must be involved for system be, and a additional hardware and software functions are needed. The designed data bus interface module is simply consists of communication transceivers and simple electronic circuit without micro processor. Through the hardware testing and software simulation, the functional performance of the designed interface module was successfully validated.

  • This paper suggests an algorithm to improve QoS by using DTR bit employed in the MIL-STD-188-220 protocol, when there is a multi-path between source and destination in the environment of KVMF tactical network supporting NCW. The MIL-STD-188-220 protocol can evaluate the link quality relatively but it cannot support optimal path selection for QoS. In order to solve this problem, we design an algorithm for selecting path using topology table which reflects measured DTR of path after the completion of transmission. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been evaluated by OPNET simulator. As a result of the simulation, it is found that QoS of proposed algorithm is enhanced higher than that of the MIL-STD-188-220 in the aggravated communication environment.
