입원아동 어머니의 진통제 지식과 사용태도 및 교육요구 (Knowledge, Using Attitude and Education Demand of Analgesics on Hospitalized children's Mothers)

  • Purpose: Mothers are primary care taker for hospitalized children and they have an important role for the management of children's pain. This study was purposed to provide basic data needed in constructing the educational contents about pain management for the hospitalized children. Method: The research subjects were 165 mothers of children hospitalized at a general hospital in Busan. The questionnaire were composed of knowledge of, using attitude toward and education demand on analgesics. The data were collected from August 1 to September 30, 2009. Data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 program. Results: The overall mean score of correct answers on knowledge about analgesics was 26.9% and using attitude toward analgesics was $25.55{\pm}4.03$. And demand of education was $3.98{\pm}0.66$. Conclusions: The level of mothers' knowledge about analgesics was very low and using attitude toward analgesics was passive. The hospitalized children's mothers need more knowledge and liberalness attitude toward analgesics. And various and sufficient educational program about analgesics and pain management for hospitalized children's mothers can be contribute to improve the quality of life of them.

보육교사와 학령전기 아동 어머니의 아동 건강증진 교육요구 (Needs for Children's Health Promotion Education as Perceived by Child Care Center Teachers and Mothers)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the needs for children's health promotion education programs as perceived by child care center teachers and mothers. Methods: This study conducted a survey of 88 child care center teachers and 70 mothers of preschool children in Seoul from January 4 to February 5, 2016. This study aimed to characterize the current conditions of health promotion education for preschool children and the needs for health promotion education as perceived by child care center teachers and mothers of preschool children. Results: Areas of high need for health promotion education included lifestyle improvements for preventing diseases in children and awareness of the importance of health in educational objectives, standardized educational manuals, health educators as educators, child care centers as educational places, local health centers as educational support organizations, regular class hours as educational time, role play for training, and actual models in the educational medium. The educational subjects for which a high need was reported included safety and accident prevention, the role of smartphones and TV watching in mental health, and personal hygiene and disease prevention. Conclusion: These findings suggest that it is necessary to develop a health promotion education program for preschool children.

시설보호아동의 역할모델에 따른 학교적응 및 미래관의 차이 (School Adjustment and Future Time Perspectives of Children in Institutional Care According to Their Role Models)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in school adjustment and future time perspectives, according to the characteristics in regards to the role models of the children in institutional facilities. Data for this study were obtained from a survey conducted on 310 children aged 11-13. Data were analyzed using various statistical methods such as frequency analysis, chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and one-way ANCOVA. The main findings of this study were as follows. First, overall, the majority of children selected entertainers and celebrities as their role models. Also, we found differences in children's school adjustment according to their background variables (gender, staying with their siblings, and having parents alive). Second, having role models was significantly related to the levels of school adjustment as well as the positive future time perspectives of the children. Based on the results, practical implications for children in institutional care were discussed.

아동의 예방접종에 미치는 영향 요인 - Pender의 건강증진모형 적용 - (Factors Influencing Children's Immunization)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing childhood immunization. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 251 Parents who have 6 months to 7 years old children at public health centers in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Result: According to general characteristics of the parents and children, there were statistically significant differences in education level of parents, child immunization card, gender, age, and birth order of children. The main factors that affected children's immunization were perceived barriers of action, perceived control, birth order of children, child immunization card, and education level of parents, and these factors explained 49.4%(explanatory power of this model was 49.4%). Conclusion: The results of this study showed strategies for compliance of children immunization. Therefore, when the program are developed for public immunization, these factors need to be considered.

첫 자녀 출산 후 취업모와 전업모의 양육스트레스 변화 : 자녀가치, 양육지식, 자녀미래기대가 미치는 영향을 중심으로 (Parenting Stress Changes in Both of Continuous Working and Non-Working Mothers After the Birth of Their First Child : A Focus on the Effects of the Values, Knowledge and Expectations about Their Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate parenting stress changes in both continuous working and continuous non-working mothers after the birth of their first child and their relationships with the cognitive variables about child-rearing, using the 3rd Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC) by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education(KICCE). The results revealed that the parenting stress of the non-working mothers was higher than the stress experienced by the working mothers. The increase in stress was only found both groups between the second year and the third year of childbirth. The total explanatory power of the knowledge, values and expectations regarding their children saw stress increase for the working mothers, but saw it decrease for the non-working mothers. Finally, the emotional value surrounding parenthood was the most powerful variable for both groups, with the exception of the non-working mothers' stress, as experienced in the first year.

  • Family day care centers, in apartment complexes, which are popular in korea, have merits as day care centers for young children due to their homey environments, closeness to children's homes, and available outdoor playground utilizing open space in the complexes. Thus, It is great potential to develop design guideline of family day care in apartment which are in demand now, The purpose of this study is to provide basic information for develop of design guideline family day care center. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate important the point of issues that influence the development of design family day care center. The study of the point of issues are environment behavior, Murtha & Lee' User Benefit Criteria, and Pattern theory. As a result, this study provide basic data of develop design guideline of family day care and important data of next study.

가정문해환경과 유아의 어휘 및 읽기 능력 (The Effects of Home Literacy Environments on Preschoolers' Vocabulary and Reading Skills)

  • We examined the effects of family and home literacy environments on the vocabulary and reading abilities of 3 to 5-year-olds. In particular, SES was considered against home literacy environment. The sample consisted of 366 Korean children and their mothers. We found that the level of mother's education was related to the child's vocabulary test score. After controlling for family factors, home literacy environment score positively predicted children's performance both in vocabulary and reading tests. Magnitudes of differences between the two literacy groups (high and low home literacy environment) became larger in the children from relative lower income families. Magnitudes of differences for vocabulary and reading tests was strikingly large in the low-income group both in vocabulary and reading tests. These findings shed lights on the importance of parent education and family services for low-income families with preschool children.

아로마 복부경락마사지가 입원 뇌병변 장애아동의 변비 완화에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Abdominal Meridian Massage with Aroma Oils on Relief of Constipation among Hospitalized Children with Brain related Disabilities)

  • Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of 3 times/week and 5 times/week abdominal meridian massage with aroma oils (AMMAO) on the relief of constipation among hospitalized children with disabilities involving the brain lesions (cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and others). Methods: The participants were 33 hospitalized children with a disability involving the brain (15 were in the 5 times/week of AMMAO group and 18 were in the 3 times/week of AMMAO group). Data were collected from March 21 to May 1, 2011. Chi-square test, t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS 18.0 were used to evaluate the effects of AMMAO. Results: While there was no significant difference between the two groups, there was a significant difference within groups between baseline and the end of the intervention period for the following, frequency of suppository use or enemas, amount of stool, and number of bowel movements. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that AMMAO is an effective nursing intervention in relief of constipation for hospitalized children with a disability involving the brain. Therefore it is recommended that AMMAO be used in clinical practice as an effective nursing intervention for relief of constipation to these children.

식물인간이 된 성인자녀를 돌보는 어머니의 체험 (Lived Experience of the Mother's Caring of Adult Children with Persistent Vegetative State)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to deepen understanding the nature of the care experience by the mothers with adult children in persistent vegetative state. Methods: Participants were 7 mothers caring for their adult children in persistent vegetative state. Data were collected individually through in-depth interviews on their lived experiences. Also texts were included as data from literary works, novels, movies, essays, and arts containing on patients with persistent vegetative state and their mothers. Data were analyzed by van Manen's phenomenological methodology. Results: The essential themes of caring experiences of the mothers were as follows. The theme in relation to lived time has shown as back to the past and caring experience related lived body has emerged as locked the body in children. The theme related lived space was getting into the swamp and the theme in lived others was derived as lonely struggle into. Conclusion: The nature of mothers' caring experiences for adult children in persistent vegetative state is summarized as 'Do not off hand of hope in a locked state'. This study suggests long-term supports are necessary for mothers to care persistent vegetative state children.

유아의 또래주도성이 또래수용도에 미치는 영향: 교사-유아 관계의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Children's Peer Initiative on Peer Acceptance: Focusing on Moderating Effects of Teacher-Child Relationships)

  • Objective: This study aimed to provide a systematic understanding of children's peer initiative and peer acceptance and to offer specific information to increase young children's social competence. Methods: Participants were 235 5-year-old children from six child care centers in Sejong City. The participants were interviewed to measure the peer acceptance of children attending the same class. Also, a survey was conducted on their teachers to measure children's peer initiative and the relationship with them. The collected data were analyzed by hierarchical regression using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The results showed that significant main effects of friendly and unfriendly peer-initiatives on peer acceptance were found. The effects of teacher-child relationships and their moderating effects, however, were partial; only main influences of close relationships and the interaction effects between peer-initiatives and close relationships were significant. That is, the relationships between improper initiatives and low acceptance levels among peers were more intense when children established conflict relationships with their teacher. Conclusion/Implications: We found that close teacher-child relationships play moderating roles on the pathway from peer initiative to peer acceptance as a protective risk factor for children.
