In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the disaster preparedness for young children.
This study examined the effectiveness of an Emotional Education Curriculum. The subjects were 55 five-year-old children attending a kindergarten located in Kangbuk-gu, Seoul. Using the pre- and post-test model, the Thinking, Feeling, Behaving Curriculum was employed two to three times a week for 15 weeks in the experimental group. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. This study indicates that the Thinking, Feeling, Behaving Emotional Education Curriculum was effective in understanding young children's emotional self-perception and empathy, but the curriculum was only partially effective in improving young children's social behaviors.
The purpose of this study was to identify how characteristics of young children (sex, age, temperament), mothers (employed or unemployed, intimacy between mother and child, parenting attitudes), and home environment (pet, TV/Video viewing) relate to young children's empathy and to examine the relative effects of then variables on young children's empathy. The subjects for this study were 300 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds selected from kindergartens and day-care centers in Busan. Data were analyzed via t-test, correlation, and multiple regression. Results showed that girls had higher empathy score than boys. Young children's empathy was positively correlated with the sociability of young child's temperament, intimacy between mother and young child, reasoning guidance, affect, achievement of parenting attitudes, and parental intervention toward young child after TV/video viewing. However, young children's empathy was correlated negatively with authoritarian control of parenting attitudes. Among then variables, young children's sex was the most significant variable.
This study attempted to investigate which the effects of puppetry about disabilities for improving the acceptance of young children with disabilities. Total of 60 preschoolers served as experimental and control group and were administered pre and post test. The experimental group was presented with puppetry 6 times. The result showed that the acceptance to young children with disabilities was altered through puppetry. Significant gender difference was found in accessbility to young children with disabilities, girls were more improved than boys. However, there was no difference in perception about young children with disabilities and their classroom activity.
This study analyzed the effects of dynamic assessment in terms of scaffolding group types and young children's measurement ability levels. Participants were five-year-old children in Busan divided into 2 experimental groups and control groups. The Assessment Tools for Young Children's Measurement Ability (Ko & Hwang, 2008) consisted of 4 sub tests for ‘length', 'width', and 'weight' concepts. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. Results showed significant differences between experimental and control groups in post-test scores, but no significant differences between individual and peer collaboration groups in amount of scaffolding. Significant improvements showed in all of the measurement ability level groups : individual higher, individual lower, peer collaboration higher and peer collaboration lower level scaffolding groups.
Objective: This study investigates the main effects and interaction effects of mother's reactions to young children's negative emotions on the children's problem behaviors. Methods: A total of 346 mothers with toddlers completed questionnaires, the data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Results: First, mothers' supportive response to young children's negative emotions, including expressive encouragement, emotion-focused reactions, and problem-focused reactions, showed negative relations with the children's internal and external problem behaviors. Mothers' unsupportive response to children's negative emotions, including distress reactions, minimization reactions, and punitive reactions, showed positive relations with the children's internal and external problem behaviors. Second, an interactive effect was observed. For external problem behavior, mothers' lower distress reactions accompanied by higher emotion-focused reactions, lower punitive reactions accompanied by higher emotion-focused reactions, lower distress reactions accompanied by higher problem-focused reactions, and lower punitive reactions accompanied by higher problem-focused reactions all decreased children′s problem behavior. However, for internal problem behavior, only mothers' lower distress reactions accompanied by higher emotion-focused reaction decreased children′s problem behavior. Conclusion/Implication: The main interaction effect on mothers' reaction to young children's negative emotional expression shows that preventive intervention is needed to address problem behavior.
The early childhood is a pivotal period for the development of creativity since creative imaginary is rich at the age from 4 to 4.5 years old, The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between children's creativity, playfulness and multiple intelligence. 91 children(41 boy, 50 girls) attending preschool in jeon-ju city were participated in this research, The age of children was 6 years(average 73.7 months), After collecting the data to find the connections between children's creativity, playfulness and multiple intelligence from the subjects' data using the SPSS WIN 10.0 program, along with t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation in this paper. 1. There was significant correlation between children's playfulness and creativity. Intelligence spontaneousness the element of the playfulness has a correlation with Creativity strengths, Elaboration. In addition, Resistance to Premature Closure has a correlation with social spontaneity, And Originality has a correlation with the Expression of Pleasure the element of the playfulness, 2. There was a significant positive correlation between children's multiple intelligence(MI) and creativity, Fluency the element of creativity has a correlation with Interpersonal intelligence the element of multiple intelligence: And Originality has a correlation with Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, Intrapersonal intelligence the element of MI. In addition, Abstraction of Titles has a correlation with Intrapersonal intelligence. 3. There was a little correlation between children's MI and playfulness. The Expression of Pleasure has a correlation with bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, Based on the current study, the relationships between creativity, playfulness, and multiple intelligence could be identified. Especially, creativity was significantly correlated with playfulness and multiple intelligence of early childhood. Therefore, it was found that creativity of toddler might be essential factor for the development of toddler's cognitivity.
The teacher's role scale for improving young children's creativity is designed for both teacher self-rating and observer rating. Content validity was determined by 5 experts who defined the domains of specific content. Construct validity was obtained by the self-ratings of 404 teachers of 3- to 5-year-old children. Five factors using 38 items of the original 59 were found to be related to the teacher's role in improving young children's creativity. The factors were Indulgence and Perseverance, Flexibility, Originality, Elaboration, and Fluency. Convergent validity was confirmed by positive correlations of the Teacher's Role Scale with the Teacher's Creativity Test of the Korean Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences. For internal consistency, Cronbach ${\alpha}$ of the 5 factors ranged from .74 to .88. Test-retest reliability coefficientents ranged from .653 to .838. These results confirm the Scale as a valid and reliable measure of the teacher's role in improving the creativity of young children.
The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a climate change education program for children in early childhood.
