중소기업의 생산정보화시스템(MES) 구축 방안에 관한 연구 (A Case Study of Manufacturing Execution System Implementation in a Medium-sized Enterprises)

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a system that companies can use to measure and control critical production activities. This paper shows case study of implementation of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and its methodology in a medium sized production company. This study focused on two important things in MES implementation. First, it provides critical success factors (CSFs) and construction method for success of MES implementation. Second, it presents guidelines for MES implementation in small and medium-size company. Some of the benefits with regards to MES implementation and its results are introduced in the end of this paper.

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 공정능력관리 기반의 MES(Manufacturing Execution System) 시스템과 해당 시스템을 활용한 제조 업무 수행 절차에 대해서 제안한다. 현 MES 시스템은 제조 현장을 쉽게 인지할 수 있는 KPI(Key Performance Indicator) 리포트는 제시하지만, 실질적 제조 현장의 KPI 향상을 위한 개선 방안은 도출하지 못하고 있다. 즉, 불량률 증가, 수율 감소, 생산 리드 타임(Lead-Time) 증가의 궁극적 원인을 발췌하여 개선 방안을 도출하고, 이를 제조 현장에 적용하는 부분에는 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 실시간 공정능력관리 기반의 MES 시스템은 공정능력지수를 결정하는 설비 주요 인자의 산포도를 실시간으로 관리하여, 기존 MES 시스템의 한계점을 극복한 제조 운영 관리시스템 구축이 목적이다. 그리고, 실시간 대용량 데이터 처리를 위한 속도개선 방안을 제시하여, 해당 시스템이 잘 운영될 수 있도록 적용하려고 한다.

  • 제조 생산 기업에서 도입하고 있는 MES (제조실행시스템: Manufacturing Execution System) 역시 이러한 시장 변화에 부응하기 위해 스마트화 및 IT융합화를 실현해야하는 현실에 놓여있다. 더욱이 최근 비즈니스 환경이 글로벌화(globalization) 됨에 따라 지역적으로 하나의 공장에서 제한적으로 생산되는 제품들이 다국적이고 분산적으로 생산하게 된다. 따라서 하나의 공장 운용 시스템을 관장하던 로컬(local) MES가 글로벌(global) MES 솔루션으로 확장되는 동시에, 로컬 MES간 생산 자원(production resource)을 상호 공유하는 시스템으로 변화되어야 한다.

일본의 과거 30년간 박용기관시스템의 신뢰성, 정비성 및 매닝인덱스의 발전에 대한 소고와 그 장래 (Some Considerations on Developments in Reliabili~ Maintainability and Manning Indices for Engine Systems During the Past 30 Years in Japan - and the Future)

  • A marine engine system (MES) should be evaluated by not only reliability (R) but also maintainability (M) and manning index (MI), because this system can be recognised as a typical man-machine system. In 1977 at the first ICMES Conference in Paris one of the authors presented a total evaluation of the MES with the three indices, R, M, MI, proving the human ability of detecting faults and defects in this system. This paper describes how the MES has developed from the point of view of the above three indices during the past 30 years in Japan and its problems in the future, and arrives at the following conclusions : the reliability of the MES has developed due to quality control (QC) ; the maintainability of the MES has improved due to education and training ; the manning index of the MES has improved due to Rand M ; the availability of the MES has kept constant due to the decreasing complement onboard, at the rate of one person per year approximately ; and two esimations having the three indices were shown by the SRIC 1990 Data Base in Japan, for the two kinds of subsystems in the developed MES.

  • Recently, the strategy of the age of limitless competition for existence of manufacturing company appears for the enhancement of productivity through the automatic system, the reduction for the cost for standardization and the decision making process for the information system. Especially the critical success factors in manufacturing company can be summarized for the establishment of production visibility through the production management, material & work-in-process management, the establish of the flexible manufacturing system for the changed order priority and the establish of the quality system for improvement of product and process quality. The existing production management systems supply only simple information about production results on real time, can delay quick decision making. And it can prevent acquiring the information about various customer needs and the communication problems with other systems. In this paper, it will show MES system, a solution for the problems of existing production management systems. And through a case study of D company, it will reveal improvement effect on shipment error using MES system and economic analysis for MES itself.

  • Manufacturing enterprises have been doing their best endeavors to obtain competitiveness using various methodologies, such as information technology. In order to achieve competitiveness, they are adopting manufacturing execution system (MES). MES is a total management system that manages from the beginning of the production by product order until the quality inspection of the finished product. And MES is an inter-mediator for supplementation of information gap between ERP and inspection machine and equipment. This paper describes on establishment of effective strategy based on BPR methodology and implementation of MES small and medium PCB manufacturing company with multiple-types of products and mixed process flows. And then we proposed evaluation model based on balanced score card (BSC) for considering non-finance elements as well as finance elements. With evaluation model, we analyzed benefits and effects of MES.

  • Currently, many companies are trying to be more competitive by implementing the most appropriate software package called ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). ERP can support the company's business process. A manufacturing execution system (MES) is an industrial software system, as well as a manufacturing management function in make-to-order and make-to-stock manufacturing environments. This paper presents an architecture of MES. This study develops MES to identify the functional requirements of loading & scheduling in the automobile industry. This study shows the effectiveness of the proposed MES, how to develop MES and interface with ERP package.

  • Production management in the automobile parts industry is carried out according to the production plan of the customer, so it is important to prevent shortages in product supply. As the product composition became increasingly complex, the MES System was built for the purpose of efficient production plan management and inventory management, but its utilization is low. This study analyzed the problems of the MES system and sought to improve it. Through previous studies, it was confirmed that the inventory management of the pull approach that actually occurred in the warehouse is more suitable than the push approach based on the forecast of the warehouse for the volatility, complexity, and uncertainty of orders in the auto parts industry. To realize this, we tried distributed MRP by using the ADO function of VBA to link the standard information of the MES system with Excel and change the structure of the BOM table. Through this, it can help increase the accuracy of production planning and realize efficient inventory management, thereby increasing the utilization of the MES system in the auto parts industry and enhancing the competitiveness of the company.

중소기업 스마트 공장 확장성 사례연구 (A Case Study on Smart Factory Extensibility for Small and Medium Enterprises)

  • Smart factories can be defined as intelligent factories that produce products through IoT-based data. In order to build and operate a smart factory, various new technologies such as CPS, IoT, Big Data, and AI are to be introduced and utilized, while the implementation of a MES system that accurately and quickly collects equipment data and production performance is as important as those new technologies. First of all, it is very essential to build a smart factory appropriate to the current status of the company. In this study, what are the essential prerequisite factors for successfully implementing a smart factory was investigated. A case study has been carried out to illustrate the effect of implementing ERP and MES, and to examine the extensibilities into a smart factory. ERP and MES as an integrated manufacturing information system do not imply a smart factory, however, it has been confirmed that ERP and MES are necessary conditions among many factors for developing into a smart factory. Therefore, the stepwise implementation of intelligent MES through the expansion of MES function was suggested. An intelligent MES that is capable of making various decisions has been investigated as a prototyping system by applying data mining techniques and big data analysis. In the end, in order for small and medium enterprises to implement a low-cost, high-efficiency smart factory, the level and goal of the smart factory must be clearly defined, and the transition to ERP and MES-based intelligent factories could be a potential alternative.
