가변 샘플링 간격(VSI)을 갖는 적응형 이동평균 (A-MA) 관리도 (An Adaptive Moving Average (A-MA) Control Chart with Variable Sampling Intervals (VSI))

  • This paper proposes an adaptive moving average (A-MA) control chart with variable sampling intervals (VSI) for detecting shifts in the process mean. The basic idea of the VSI A-MA chart is to adjust sampling intervals as well as to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The VSI A-MA chart employs a threshold limit to determine whether or not to increase sampling rate as well as to accumulate previous samples. If a standardized control statistic falls outside the threshold limit, the next sample is taken with higher sampling rate and is accumulated to calculate the next control statistic. If the control statistic falls within the threshold limit, the next sample is taken with lower sampling rate and only the sample is used to get the control statistic. The VSI A-MA chart produces an 'out-of-control' signal either when any control statistic falls outside the control limit or when L-consecutive control statistics fall outside the threshold limit. The control length L is introduced to prevent small mean shifts from being undetected for a long period. A Markov chain model is employed to investigate the VSI A-MA sampling process. Formulae related to the steady state average time-to signal (ATS) for an in-control state and out-of-control state are derived in closed forms. A statistical design procedure for the VSI A-MA chart is proposed. Comparative studies show that the proposed VSI A-MA chart is uniformly superior to the adaptive Cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart and to the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) chart, and is comparable to the variable sampling size (VSS) VSI EWMA chart with respect to the ATS performance.

The optimization of ELISA for methamphetamine determination : the effect of immunogen, tracer and antibody purification method on the sensitivity

  • To obtain more sensitive immunoassay for methamphetamine (MA) determination, the optimum condition of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was investigated in regard to immunogens, antibody purification methods and coating tracers. Activated MA, N-(4-aminobutyl)methamphetamine (4-ABMA), was conjugated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) or keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) and used as immunogen. The antibodies were purified by protein G chromatography or various immunoaffinity chromatography-linked MA-protein ligands, such as MA-BSA, MA-KLH or MA-ovalbumin (OVA). Each purified antibody was characterized by means of sensitivity and cross-reactivity using the three MA-protein coating tracers, MA-BSA, MA-KLH and MA-OVA. The best sensitivity of each antibody was acquired with the MA-OVA tracer although the tracer concentration and the antibody titer level at optimum condition were varied. The antibody with high titer level did not always yield good sensitivity. At optimum condition, immunoaffinity chromatography-purified antibodies were better for sensitivity and for specificity than protein G-purified antibodies. The cross-reactivity of the purified antibodies seemed to be affected by immunogen structure and showed somewhat different patterns according to the immunoaffinity ligand utilized. These data show that the antibody purification method as well as choice of coating tracer and immunogen is essential for the sensitivity and specificity of EIA; the optimum condition for assay should be discovered using various methods and combinations.

적응형 이동평균(A-MA) 관리도의 경제적-통계적 설계 (Economic-Statistical Design of Adaptive Moving Average (A-MA) Control Charts)

  • This research proposes a method for economic-statistical design of adaptive moving average (A-MA) charts. The basic idea of the A-MA chart is to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The A-MA chart is a kind of adaptive chart such as the variable sampling size (VSS) chart. A major advantage of the A-MA chart over the VSS chart is that it is easy to maintain rational subgroups by using the fixed sampling size. A steady state cost rate function is constructed based on Lorenzen and Vance (1986) model. The cost rate function is optimized with respect to five design parameters. Computational experiments show that the A-MA chart is superior to the VSS chart as well as to the Shewhart $\bar{X}$ chart in the economic-statistical sense.

  • Control charts are important tools of statistical quality control. In 1956, Duncan first proposed the economic design of $\bar{x}-control$ charts to control normal process means and insure that the economic design control chart actually has a lower cost, compared with a Shewhart control chart. An moving average (MA) control chart is more effective than a Shewhart control chart in detecting small process shifts and is considered by some to be simpler to implement than the CUSUM. An economic design of MA control chart has also been proposed in 2005. The weaknesses to only the economic design are poor statistics because it dose not consider type I or type II errors and average time to signal when selecting design parameters for control chart. This paper provides a construction of an economic-statistical model to determine the optimal parameters of an MA control chart to improve economic design. A numerical example is employed to demonstrate the model's working and its sensitivity analysis is also provided.

Impact of Changes in Medical Aid Status on Health Care Utilization

  • Background: South Korea operates a Medical Aid (MA) program targeting selected low-income individuals to ensure medical service delivery to the disadvantaged while enhancing self-sufficiency of work-capable beneficiaries. However, as reasons behind welfare exits are diverse and do not always infer poverty relief or the provision of appropriate levels of health care services, this study aimed to investigate the association between changes in MA status and health care utilization. Methods: This study used the 2006 to 2015 National Health Insurance claims data. The impact of changes in annual MA status on health care utilization (yearly number of outpatient visits, inpatient visits, length of stay, and emergency department [ED] visits) was investigated using the generalized estimating equation model. Results: In 117,943 adult subjects aged 20 to 64, compared to the 'MA to MA' group, the 'MA to MA exit' group showed general decreases in utilization (outpatient visits: β=-3.93, p<0.0001; hospital admissions: relative risk [RR], 0.87; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.83-0.91; length of stay: β=-3.64, p<0.0001; ED visits: RR, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.77-0.90). Similar patterns were found in the 'MA exit to MA exit' group (outpatient visits: β=-5.72, p<0.0001; admissions: RR, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.87-0.94; length of stay: β=-5.87; p<0.0001; ED visits: RR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.75-0.88). Likewise, in 74,747 older adult subjects aged 65 or above, the 'MA to MA exit' group showed reduced levels of utilization (outpatient visits: β=-1.51; p=0.0020), as well as the 'MA exit to MA exit' group (admissions: RR, 0.92; 95% CI, 0.89-0.95; length of stay: β, -5.45; p<0.0001; ED visits: RR, 0.90; 95% CI, 0.83-0.97). Conclusion: MA exit was associated with general decreases in health care utilization. Utilization patterns of individuals with experiences of receiving MA benefits should be monitored to promote the ideal use of health care services while preventing potential financial barriers present in accessing medical care.

선택적 이동평균(S-MA) 관리도의 ARL (The ARL of a Selectively Moving Average Control Chart)

  • This paper investigates the average run length (ARL) of a selectively moving average (S-MA) control chart. The S-U chart is designed to detect shifts in the process mean. The basic idea of the S-MA chart is to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The ARL of the S-MA chart was shown to be monotone decreasing with respect to the decision length in a previous research [3]. This paper derives the steady-state ARL in a closed-form and shows that the monotone property is resulted from head-start assumption. The steady-state ARL is shown to be a sum of head-start ARL and an additional term. The statistical design procedure for the S-MA chart is revised according to this result. Sensitivity study shorts that the steady-state ARL performance is still better than the CUSUM chart or the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) chart.

  • 기능성 MA필름을 생산하여 이를 골판지 상자의 내부에 첨합시킨 FC상자의 활용가능성을 조사하고자 골판지 상자와 기능성 MA필름대를 골판지 상자 내부에 첨합시킨 FC포장구와 LDPE 및 기능성필름과 대조구로 골판지 상자만으로 포도를 포장하여 25 C에 저장하여 품질변화를 조사한 결과, FC 상자와 LDPE와 CE포장구는 대조구 보다는 중량감소율이 현저히 낮았으며 비타민C의 함량도 33% 높게 유지되고 있었다. 산도와 환원당 함량은 포장구들간에는 큰차이가 없었다. 외관 및 부패를 조사한 결과 대조구에 비해 개발포장구에서 품질이 더 높게 유지되고 있어 FC 포장재를 포도 포장용 상자로 활용가능성이 확인되었다.

비소세포폐암 환자의 혈장 DNA를 이용한 Microsatellite 분석 (Microsatellite Alterations of Plasma DNA in Non Small Cell Lung Cancer)

  • 폐암의 조기 진단을 위한 방법으로써 MA의 의의를 알아보고자 전남대학교 병원 내과에 내원한 폐암 환자 9례(squamous cell carcinoma 6례, adenocarcinoma 2례, non-small cell lung cancer: 1례), 연령이 비슷한 비폐암 대조군 9례(AMC, 결핵: 3례, 비특이적 염증성 폐질환: 6례)와 40세 이하 정상인 12례(NC)를 대상으로, 이들의 말초혈액의 백혈구와 혈장으로부터 DNA를 추출하여 D21S1245, D3S1300, D3S1234 유전자좌의 MA를 분석하였다. 세가지 유전자좌 중 어느 한 유전자좌에서라도 MA가 관찰되면 MA가 있는 것으로 인정하였다. MA는 NC에서는 관찰되지 않았으나 0%(0/12), AMC에서는 88.9%(8/9)에서 관찰되었다. AMC와 NC 총 21례 중 흡연자에서 70%(7/10) 비흡연자에서 9.1%(1/11) MA가 관찰되었다(p<0.05). 폐암군과 AMC 총 18례 중 AMC에서 88.9%(8/9), 폐암군에서 66.7%(6/9)를 보여 양군간에 서로 차이 없이 모두 높은 빈도로 관찰되었다(p>0.05). 결과적으로 혈장 DNA의 MA는 40세 이하의 정상인들에서는 발견되지 않으며 폐암 환자들에서 높은 빈도로 발견되었다. 그러나 고령의 흡연자들인 비폐암 대조 군에서도 높은 빈도로 MA가 관찰되므로 폐암 조기진단의 지표로써는 적합하지 않을 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 본 연구는 소수의 한정된 대상을 이용한 결과로써 다양한 연령층과 흡연력 그리고 조직형에 따라 세분화된 더 큰 대상 군을 이용한 연구가 추구되어야 할 것이다.

STUDIES ON IMMUNOTOXIC POTENTIAL OF METHAMPHETAMINE (MA) IN Balb/C MICE I. Changes of Lymphoid Organs and Inhibitory Effect of Lymphocyte Proliferation to Mitogen

  • The immune system is partially under the control of the sympathetic and parasymphathetic nervous systems through the regulatory feedback loop. Methamphetamine (MA) is a neurotoxic chemical which affects the neurotransmitter system. The objective of this study was to investigate the immunotoxic effect of MA on the major immune target organ and lymphocyte proliferation to the various mitogens. Female Balb/C mice, 15 to 20 g, were injected subcutaneously with 0, 0.5, or 5 mg MA/kg for 14 consecutive days. In MA treated mice, the body weight gain and relative spleen and thymus weight were decreased in doserelated manner. Histopathologically, there was a paucity of lymphold follicles and germinal centers in the spleen, and thymic cortical atrophy with lymphophagocytosis was prominent. Apoptosis also occurred in germinal centers of spleen and thymic cortex. The threshold and peak of lymphocyte proliferation at various concentration of mitogens showed similar patterns. However, the response to lipopolysaccaride (LPS) and pokeweed mitogen (PWM) in the 5 mg MA/kg treated group showed threshold and peak proliferation at high concentration of mitogens (25${\mu}g$ LPS/ml for MA vs 15${\mu}g$ LPS/ml for control; 60${\mu}g$ PWM/ml for MA vs 45${\mu}g$ PWM/ml for control), which suggest that MA impairs T cell dependent-B cell function. This preliminary study indicated that MA affected the lymphold organs and immune function.

까막전복(Haliotis discus) 치패용 EP사료내 어분과 해조류 대체원으로서 참치부산물분과 생미강의 효과 (Effects of Substituting Fish Meal and Macroalgae for Tuna Byproduct Meal and Rice Bran in Extruded Pellets Fed to Juvenile Abalone Haliotis discus (Reeve 1846))

  • We investigated the effect of replacing tuna byproduct meal (TBM) and rice bran (RB) with fish meal (FM) and macroalgae (MA) in extruded pellets (EP) supplied as a diet to juvenile Abalone Haliotis duscus in aquaculture. In total, 80,000 juvenile abalone were distributed among eight indoor raceways and supplied with one of four experimental diets. The control diet consisted of FM, fermented soybean meal, corn gluten meal and shrimp meal as protein sources, with wheat flour and dextrin as carbohydrate sources; the control diet also contained MA. In the FM50 diet, TBM was replaced with 50% FM. In the MA 50 diet, RB was replaced with 50% MA. The final diet, FM50+MA50, included TMB and RB in place of 50% FM and 50% MA. Abalone were fed to satiation with little food leftover for 16 weeks. Weight gain and specific growth rate of abalone fed the control diet were greater than those of abalone fed the FM50 and MA50 diets, but not different from those of abalone fed FM50+MA50 diet. The proximate composition of abalone soft body did not vary according to experimental diets. Based on these results, it appears that the traditional commercial diet for juvenile abalone, comprising FM and MA, could be replaced with one containing 50% TBM and 50% RB without any retardation of growth.
