RELATIVE ISOPERIMETRIC INEQUALITY FOR MINIMAL SUBMANIFOLDS IN SPACE FORMS

  • Let C be a closed convex set in ${\mathbb{S}}^m$ or ${\mathbb{H}}^m$. Assume that ${\Sigma}$ is an n-dimensional compact minimal submanifold outside C such that ${\Sigma}$ is orthogonal to ${\partial}C$ along ${\partial}{\Sigma}{\cap}{\partial}C$ and ${\partial}{\Sigma}$ lies on a geodesic sphere centered at a fixed point $p{\in}{\partial}{\Sigma}{\cap}{\partial}C$ and that r is the distance in ${\mathbb{S}}^m$ or ${\mathbb{H}}^m$ from p. We make use of a modified volume $M_p({\Sigma})$ of ${\Sigma}$ and obtain a sharp relative isoperimetric inequality $$\frac{1}{2}n^n{\omega}_nM_p({\Sigma})^{n-1}{\leq}Vol({\partial}{\Sigma}{\sim}{\partial}C)^n$$, where ${\omega}_n$ is the volume of a unit ball in ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ Equality holds if and only if ${\Sigma}$ is a totally geodesic half ball centered at p.

Risk factors for external root resorption of maxillary second molars associated with third molars

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of panoramic images compared to cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging for maxillary third molar (M3)-associated external root resorption (ERR), and to identify the risk factors of ERR on panoramic images. Materials and Methods: The study population was composed of all patients who underwent panoramic imaging at Dankook University Dental Hospital from May to October 2019. In total, 397 cases of maxillary M3s in 247 patients(147 men and 100 women) were included. The diagnostic accuracy of ERR in panoramic images compared to CBCT images was evaluated using the chi-square test. To identify risk factors for ERR, dental records and panoramic findings were evaluated by logistic regression analysis. Results: The diagnostic accuracy of ERR on panoramic images was 0.79 compared to CBCT images (P<0.05). Superimposition of M3s onto second molars (M2) was associated with an approximately 33 times higher risk of ERR than separated M3s(P<0.05). Impacted M3s showed a 5 times higher risk of ERR than erupted M3s(P<0.05). Conclusion: ERR related to M3s is a common clinical condition, and superimposition of M3 onto M2 on panoramic images was the most important risk factor for ERR. It seemed that CBCT examinations for maxillary M3s might be indicated for ERR diagnosis especially if panoramic radiographs show superimposition of M3 onto M2. Impaction itself was also a risk factor, and it should be carefully examined.

  • $CdS_{0.69}Se_{0.31}$ single crystal grown by sublimation method. Hall effect measurement were carried out by the Van der Pauw method. The measurement values under the temperature were found to be carrier density $n=1.95{\times}10^{23}m^{-3}$, Hall coeffcient $RH=3.21{\times}10^{-5}m^3/c$, conductivity ${\sigma}=362.41{\Omega}^{-1}m^{-1}$, and Hall mobility ${\mu}=1.16{\times}10^{-2}m^2/v.s.$ Heterojunction solar cells of $n-CdS_{0.69}Se_{0.31}/p-Cu_{2-x}S_{0.69}Se_{0.31}$ were fabricated by the substitution reaction. The open-circuit voltage, short-circuit currint density, fill factor and power conversion efficiency of $n-CdS_{0.69}Se_{0.31}/p-Cu_{2-x}S_{0.69}Se_{0.31}$ heterojunction solar cell under $80mW/cm^2$ illumination were found to be 0.41V, $19.5mA/cm^2$, 0.75 and 9.99%, respectivity.

ON 𝜙-SEMIPRIME SUBMODULES

  • Let R be a commutative ring with non-zero identity and M be a unitary R-module. Let S(M) be the set of all submodules of M and ${\phi}:S(M){\rightarrow}S(M){\cup}\{{\emptyset}\}$ be a function. We say that a proper submodule P of M is a ${\phi}$-semiprime submodule if $r{\in}R$ and $x{\in}M$ with $r^2x{\in}P{\setminus}{\phi}(P)$ implies that $rx{\in}P$. In this paper, we investigate some properties of this class of sub-modules. Also, some characterizations of ${\phi}$-semiprime submodules are given.

Promoter Methylation and Relative mRNA Expression of the p16 Gene in Cervical Cancer in North Indians

  • Background: Cervical carcinoma is one of the main causes of mortality in women worldwide as well as in India. It occurs as a result of various molecular events that develop from the combined influences of an individual's genetic predisposition and external agents such as smoking and menstrual hygiene, for example. However, infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is the established major risk factor. The aim of the current study was to investigate p16 CpG island methylation and establish any correlation with mRNA expression in north Indian population. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 196 woman volunteer out of which 98 were cases and 98 healthy controls. For the analysis of methylation pattern, DNA extracted from blood samples was modified with a bisulfate kit and used as template for methylation specific PCR (MSP). Quantitative real-time PCR (QRT-PCR) was performed to check mRNA expression. Results: Correlation between methylation status of p16 gene and poor menstrual hygiene was significant (p=0.006), high parity cases showed methylation of p16 gene (p=0.031) with increased risk up to 1.86 times for cervical cancer and smoking was a strong risk factor associated with cervical cancer. We analyzed methylation pattern and found 60.3% methylation in cases with low mRNA expression level (0.014) as compare to controls (1.24). It was also observed that promoter methylation of p16 gene was significantly greater in FIGO stage III. Conclusions: We conclude that p16 methylation plays an important role in cervical cancer in the north Indian population and its methylation decreases mRNA expression. It can be used as an important and consistent blood biomarker in cervical cancer patients.

  • The aim of this paper is to study the class of ${\Lambda}$-constacyclic codes of length $2p^s$ over the finite commutative chain ring ${\mathcal{R}}_a=\frac{{\mathbb{F}_{p^m}}[u]}{{\langle}u^a{\rangle}}={\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+u{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+{\cdots}+u^{a-1}{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$, for all units ${\Lambda}$ of ${\mathcal{R}}_a$ that have the form ${\Lambda}={\Lambda}_0+u{\Lambda}_1+{\cdots}+u^{a-1}{\Lambda}_{a-1}$, where ${\Lambda}_0,{\Lambda}_1,{\cdots},{\Lambda}_{a-1}{\in}{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$, ${\Lambda}_0{\neq}0$, ${\Lambda}_1{\neq}0$. The algebraic structure of all ${\Lambda}$-constacyclic codes of length $2p^s$ over ${\mathcal{R}}_a$ and their duals are established. As an application, this structure is used to determine the Rosenbloom-Tsfasman (RT) distance and weight distributions of all such codes. Among such constacyclic codes, the unique MDS code with respect to the RT distance is obtained.

미생물을 이용한 트립신 과대 생산 연구 - Streptomyces용 숙주-벡터계를 이용한 트립신 유전자의 대량발현 최적화 - (Overproduction of Bacterial Trypsin in Streptomyces - Optimization for Streptomyces griseus Trypsin Production by Recombinant Streptomyces)

  • Streptomyces griseus trypsin (SGT)을 코드하는 sprT 유전자와 그 하류에 존재하는 두 개의 조절 유전자 rsgtR1 및 sgtR2를 동시에 갖고 있는 재조합 벡터 pWHM3-TR1R2를 S. lividans TK24 및 S. griseus IFO 13350에 도입하여, 트립신의 생산성을 더욱 증대시킬 수 있는 배지를 조사하였다. S. lividans TK24/pWHM3-TR1R2의 경우 배양 5일을 기준으로 R2YE에서 가장 높은 생산성(0.74 unit/mL)을 나타냈고, C5/L. (0.66 unit/mL), Livid (0.08 unit/mL), NDSK(0.06 unit/mL) 순으로 나타났다 S. griseus IFO 13350/pWHM3-TR1R2의 경우에는 전반적으로 배양 7일에 트립신 활성이 가장 높았으며, C5/L (1.518 unit/mL), R2YE(1.284 unit/mL), NDSK (0.932 unit/mL), Livid (0.295 unit/mL) 순으로 나타났다. S. griseus IFO 13350/pWHM3-TR1R2를 C5/L 배지에서 7일간 배양한 배양액으로부터 $25%{\sim}60%$ ammonium sulfate 침전, CM-sepharose 및 Sp-sepharose column chromatography를 통하여 트립신을 고순도로 정제할 수 있었다. 최종 purification fold는 6.5배, 순수 정제된 트립신의 specific activity는 69,252 unit/mg, 회수율은 1.4%이었다.

황색포도알균과 녹농균에 대한 유연전극 구조를 갖는 플라즈마 발생기의 멸균효과 평가 (Evaluation of the Sterilization Effect of a Plasma Generator with a Flexible Electrode Structure on Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa)

  • 본 연구에서 유연전극 구조의 플라즈마 발생기를 이용하여 S. aureus와 P. aeruginosa의 살균 능력을 평가하였다. 두 균주 모두 1.5×106 CFU/mL 농도의 부유액으로 조제하여 배지에도말 후, 플라즈마 발생기로부터 3 cm, 9 cm 떨어뜨려 15초 간격으로, 30초부터 120초까지 그리고 3분, 5분, 10분 동안 플라즈마를 방전하여 배지에 형성된 colony를 대조군과 비교 하였다. 3 cm 떨어뜨린 배지에서 형성된 S. aureus의 평균 집락은 5분 방전했을 때 9.2×102 (log 값 2.96) CFU/mL 이었고, 10분 방전했을 때는 8.0×10 (1.90) CFU/mL이 형성되었다. 9 cm 떨어뜨린 배지에 5분 또는 10분 동안 방전했을 때 형성된 S. aureus의 평균 집락은 각각 2.16×103 (3.33)과 2.4×102 (2.38) CFU/mL이 형성되었다. 3 cm 떨어뜨려 3분, 5분, 10분간 방전하였을 때 P. aeruginosa는 완전히 사멸되어 colony가 형성되지 않았다. 9 cm 떨어뜨려 3분 방전했을 때 P. aeruginosa는 6.0×102 (2.78) CFU/mL이 형성되었으나, 5분, 10분간 방전하였을 때는 완전히 사멸되어 colony가 형성되지 않았다. 또한 TiO2를 이용한 S. aureus와 P. aeruginosa 실험에서 더 나은 살균 효과를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The addition products of glutathione to ${\beta}$ -nitrostyrene derivatives were synthesized. ${\beta}$ -Nitrostyrene (1a), p-methyl-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1b), 3,4,5-trimethoxy-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1c), o-, m- and p-chloro-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1e, 1f, 1g) and o-, m- and p-methoxy-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1h, 1i, 1j) undergo addition reactions with glutathione to form S-(2-nitro-1-phenylethyl)-L-glutathione (5a), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methyl)phenylethyl]-L-glutatione (5b), S-[2-nitro-1-(3', 4', 5'-trimethoxy)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5c), S-[2-nitro-1-(o-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5e), S-[2-nitro-1-(m-choro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5f), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5g), S-[2-nitro-x-(o-methoxy)-phenylethyl]-L-glutathion e(5h), S-[2-nitro-x-(m-methoxy)phenylethyl]-L-glutathion e (5i), and S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methoxy)phenylethy])-L-glutathione (5j), respectively. The structure of adducts were identified by UV and IR-spectra, molecular weight measurement, and elemental analysis.
