  • This paper presents an adaptive control scheme for flexible joint robot manipulators. This control scheme is based on the Lyapunov direct method with the arm energy-based Lyapunov function. The proposed adaptive control scheme uses only the position and velocity feedback of link and motor shaft. The adaptive control system of flexible joint robots is asymptotically stable regardless of the joint flexibility value. Therefore, the assumption of weak joint ealsticity is not needed. Also, joint flexibility value is unknown. Simulation results are presented to show the feasibility of the proposed adaptive control scheme.

  • Stability of a coupled nonautonomous ordinary differential equation is investigated. Asymptotic convergence to zero of a part of state vector is additionally shown, otherwise only uniform stability could have been concluded by the Lyapunov direct method. Obtained results could be particularly useful in analysis of nonautonomous systems in which the invariance principle does not hold. An illustrating example is given.

  • In this paper, a robust controller is proposed to control a robot manipulator which is governed by highly nonlinear dynamic equations. The controller is computationally efficient since it does not require the dynamic model or parameter values of a robot manipulator. It, however, requires uncertainty bounds which are derived by using properties of serial link robot dynamics. The stability of the robot with the controller is proved by Lyapunov theory. The results of computer simulations show that the robot system is stable, and has excellent trajectory tracking performance.

  • In this short note the characteristics of a nonlinear system of which the state trajectories are oscillating in the phase plane are overviewed. The physical concept of stuck and sliding patch phenomena are also introduced by adding some switching functions and their stability on the sliding patches are analyzed by using the Lyapunov stability theory and Frobenius theorem.

  • In this paper, the problem of delay-dependent stability of uncertain stochastic systems with time-varying delay is considered. The uncertainties are assumed to be norm-bounded. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, new delay-dependent stability criteria for the system are derived in terms of LMI(linear matrix inequality). Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of proposed method.

  • This paper traces the process of constructing a new one-dimensional chaotic map, and will provide a simple application in color image encryption. The use of Sarkovskii's theorem will make it possible to determine the existence of chaos and restrict all conditions to ensure the existence of this new sequence. In addition, the sensitivity to initial conditions will be proved by Lyapunov's index value. Similarly, the performance of this new chaotic map will be illustrated graphically and compared with other chaotic maps most commonly used in cryptography. Finally, a humble color image encryption application will show the power of this new chaotic map.

  • This paper is proposed an adaptive fuzzy bilinear synchronization design for uncertain $L\ddot{u}$ chaos system. It is assumed that the $L\ddot{u}$ chaos system has unknown parameters. First, The $L\ddot{u}$ chaos system can be reconstructed via TS fuzzy bilinear modeling. We design an adaptive fuzzy bilinear synchronization control scheme based on TS fuzzy bilinear $L\ddot{u}$ chaos system with uncertain parameters. Lyapunov theory is employed to guarantee the stability of error dynamic system between TS fuzzy bilinear $L\ddot{u}$ chaos system and the proposed slave system and to derive the adaptive laws for estimating unknown parameters. Simulation results is given to demonstrate the validity of our proposed synchronization scheme.

  • For the traditional ALOHA system without capture, the Markov chain obtained using the number of backlogged users at each slot if shown to be non-ergodic. So the infinite population ALOHA with fixed retransmission probabilities is unstable for any choice of the arrival rates and retransmission probabilities. The capture ALOHA system of also shown to be unstable for any arrival rate unless it has perfect. In this paper, we study a stabilization policy for capture ALOHA system that controls the retransmission probabilities and prove the stability of its multidimensional Markovian model by empolying a continuous Lyapunov function, and thus identify the stability region. We also study a delay performance through computer simulation th show the stability for any input rate below the maximum achievable channel throughput.

  • This work verifies the chaotic motion of a steer-by-wire vehicle dynamic system, and then elucidates an application of dither smoothing to control the chaos of a vehicle model. The largest Lyapunov exponent is estimated from the synchronization to identify periodic and chaotic motions. Then, a bifurcation diagram reveals complex nonlinear behaviors over a range of parameter values. Finally, a method for controlling a chaotic vehicle dynamic system is proposed. This method involves applying another external input, called a dither signal, to the system. The designed controller is demonstrated to work quite well for nonlinear systems in achieving robust stability and protecting the vehicle from slip or spin. Some simulation results are presented to establish the feasibility of the proposed method.
