  • Purpose: This 3D-FEA study was performed to investigate the influence of marginal bone loss pattern around the implant to the stress distribution. Material and methods: From the right second premolar to the right second molar of the mandible was modeled according to the CT data of a dentate patient. Teeth were removed and an implant ($\Phi\;4.0{\times}10.0mm$) was placed in the first molar area. Twelve bone models were created; Studied bone loss conditions were horizontal bone loss and vertical bone loss, assumed bone loss patterns during biologic width formation, and pathologic vertical bone loss with or without cortification. Axial, buccolingual, and oblique force was applied independently to the center of the implant crown. The Maximum von Mises stress value and stress contour was observed and von Mises stresses at the measuring points were recorded. Results: The stress distribution patterns were similar in the non-resorption and horizontal resorption models, but differed from those in the vertical resorption models. Models assuming biologic width formation showed altered stress distribution, and weak bone to implant at the implant neck area seams accelerates stress generation. In case of vertical bone resorption, contact of cortical bone to the implant may positively affect the stress distribution.

  • Operational risk is defined as the risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems, or external events. The advanced measurement approach proposed by Basel committee uses loss distribution approach(LDA) which quantifies operational loss based on bank's own historical data and measurement system. LDA involves two distribution fittings(frequency and severity) and then generates aggregate loss distribution by employing mathematical convolution. An objective validation for the operational risk measurement is essential because the operational risk measurement allows flexibility and subjective judgement to calculate regulatory capital. However, the methodology to verify the soundness of the operational risk measurement was not fully developed because the internal operational loss data had been extremely sparse and the modeling of extreme tail was very difficult. In this paper, we propose a methodology for the validation of operational risk measurement based on bootstrap confidence intervals of operational VaR(value at risk). We derived two methods to generate confidence intervals of operational VaR.

  • For economic operating of distribution system, utility has to minimize the loss in distribution line by controlling reactive power and power factor. This paper presents calculation of reactive power in distribution line, estimation of the condenser capacity according to distance, and computation of optimal location and proper condenser capacity.

  • Soil loss by the rains has effect on natural environment. But It is difficult to find out the data that is surveyed in watershed. In this paper, we chose USLE erosion model, which could be connected easily with GSIS and available generally, and extracted factors which is entered model by using GSIS spatial analysis method. Especially, As revised USLE model, It should be applied in watershed and as it calculated soil loss before forest fire and behind, it analysed the degree that it have an effect on soil loss. Each analyzed factors and the result of soil loss estimate consist of 22m-pixel size, we could identify soil loss by each pixel and distribution form.

  • In the conventional star coupler, a certain amount of loss should be expected because lateral diffraction is used for the power distribution. In this paper, we propose a new design of a low loss star coupler which employs UV-written tapered waveguides and an AWG based on the low loss star couplers, and investigate their various characteristics. The loss of the UV-written star coupler is lower than that of the conventional star coupler, and the AWG device based on the UV-written star couplers shows low loss characteristics.

  • According to the manufacturing process of the laminated stator core for an inserted permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), the iron loss may be different. It is because the mechanical stress imposed to electrical steel sheet is strongly dependent on the manufacturing process. This paper proposes a new iron loss measurement algorithm which utilizes the induced voltage of a search coil and exciting current. The method is effective even when the distribution of magnetic flux density is not uniform along the magnetic flux path as well as uniform. The developed iron loss measurement system is applied to bonded- and embossed-type segmented stator cores of an IPMSM, and the iron losses are quantitatively compared.

  • In this paper, a thermal analysis of a high speed induction motor with a PWM voltage source was performed by considering harmonic loss components. The electromagnetic analysis of the high speed induction motor was conducted using the time-varying finite element method, and its thermal characteristics were carried out using the lump-circuit method. Harmonic losses from tests in the high frequency region were divided into core loss and conductor loss components using various ratios, in order to determine the loss distributions for the thermal analysis. The results from both the calculations and experiment were validated using a high speed induction motor prototype operating at 20,000rpm.

  • This paper presents a calculation method of iron loss in Induction Motor which is based on 2D Transient Finite Element Method. Iron loss is evaluated by the frequency analysis of flux density waveforms using Discrete Fourier Transforms (DFT) and iron loss curves data. Then. the distribution of loss and the total loss are obtained. The validity of this method is verified by the comparison of the estimated values with measured ones.

  • This paper presents the iron loss prediction of rotating electric machines taking account of the vector hysteretic properties of electrical steel sheet. The E&S vector hysteresis model is adopted to describe the vector hysteretic properties of a non-oriented electrical steel sheet, and incorporated into finite element analysis (FEA) for magnetic field analysis and iron loss prediction. A permanent magnet synchronous generator is taken as a numerical model, and the analyzed magnetic field distribution and predicted iron loss by using the proposed method is compared with those from a conventional method which employs an empirical iron loss formula with FEA based on a non-linear B-H curve. Through the comparison the effectiveness of the presented method for the iron loss prediction of the rotating machine is verified.

  • In these days, many advanced nations have enforced import restrictions against things emitting electromagnetic wave which has report that it is so harmful. In general, electromagnetic wave is composed of electric wave and magnetic wave. The reflection of electromagnetic wave is mainly reflected by conductive materials and the magnetism loss is generated by magnetic ferrite. The magnetism loss of ferrite is separated by eddy current loss, residual magnetism loss and hysteresis loss. Thermal sprayed coating is intended to manufacture because of simple processes and high efficient electromagnetic wave shielding. The high efficient thermal sprayed coatings were made from the magnetic ferrite materials that characterizes absorption of electromagnetic wave, and the electric conductive materials that characterize emitting of electromagnetic wave. This study was manufactured thermal sprayed coatings to improve absorption-efficiency, and measured the electromagnetic wave shielding efficiency. As the experimental results, high electromagnetic wave shield efficiency was obtained at wave frequency 2GHz to thermal sprayed ferrite coatings manufactured by size distribution range of spray powders, $38~88\mu\textrm{m}$.
