  • This article concerns the event management of the transportation and delivery system in the real time environment. Until now mainstream researches in the transportation and delivery area have largely focused how to create optimized vehicle routing schedule fast and stably, although the execution and event management area has a lot of opportunities which could make logistics efficient and especially customers satisfied. This paper suggests to-be model processes how to execute vehicle routing schedule correctly and when events are occurred how to cope with them effectively. To embody such ideas GIS, GPS and Mobile technologies are attached on optimizing scheduler engine, TMS, WMS, ATP and Monitoring system.

Make-or-buy Decision Model Using Fuzzy-AHP Method for School Foodservice System

  • Recently a multi-attribute structure analysis method is one of the evident areas of important points in the decision support system analysis. This research developed an internet/intranet-based solution builder for a three-step decision support system using fuzzy-AHP in the view of 1) brainstorming far the idea generation, 2) fuzzy-AHP (fuzzy analytic hierarchy process) as a multi-attribute structured analysis method and 3) aggregation logic model to integrate the results of individual analysis. We applied this decision support system to the make-or-buy decision problem for school foodservice system considering the multi-attributes in the decision making. A computer program is developed and demonstrated it internet/intranet-based decision problem. It was known that this solution builder provides decision makers a good tool for mate-of-buy group decision making.

A Study on Selecting the Areas That Need to Be Improved in R&D and Production Management of SMEs (중소기업의 연구개발 및 생산운영관리 개선영역 도출에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigates and selects the areas that need to be improved in R&D and production management of small and medium size companies. The study on the capability of R&D and production management shows that the areas for evaluating of the R&D and production management levels are composed of 8 elements : R&D resource, R&D support and experience, long-term operations strategy, intermediate range planning, short-term planning, subcontractor management, logistics and inventory management, and quality management. The investigation of the gap between the importance of the areas and the capability of SMEs shows that the most important things are to consolidate supply chain, to improve product and process competitiveness using quality improvement, and to enhance production management through sophisticated short-term planning. The detailed analysis also shows that the areas that need to be improved depend on the size and sales of the company.

  • A steel pallet to carry lighter logistic articles is developed based on the DFSS(design for Six Sigma) methodology. Combining the conventional DFSS(Design For Six Sigma) methodology with that of VE(Value Engineering) is the novel feature of this paper to achieve maximum cost reduction. In this paper, systematical steps to achieve the required structural spec's are presented by conventional DMEDI(Define-Measure-Explore-Develop-Implement) process. To imply the target costing, evaluation of functions consisting of the pallet has been performed by value methodology. Then best design concept is selected in the Explore step, following structural optimization utilizing FEM. Finally the performance of prototype is investigated by pilot test in the Implement step. The developed steel pallet is being commercialized in the fields of automated ware house.

  • 본 연구는 ANP법을 활용하여 전평시 군수지원 시스템에 대한 운용평가 방안을 제시하였다. 이러한 평가를 위하여 본 연구에서는 군 실정에 부합한 평가기준 재정립하여 기준별 구체적인 평가방법을 제시하였다. 그에따라 연구에서는 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 시스템 운용의 최적조합을 판단하는 과정과 정수계획법을 통한 수리적 모델링으로 군수품의 배송비용에 대한 경제성 평가를 제시하였고 회귀분석을 통한 효용성 평가와 IPB에 의한 군수품 수송의 안정성 평가를 실시하였다. 마지막으로 이러한 각 평가 결과를 ANP법을 이용한 종합 평가치를 산출하여 전평시 지휘관 및 참모의 부대지휘절차간에 구체적인 방책구상 및 선정시 지휘관이 최적의 의사결정할 수 있도록 하였다.

An Empirical Study on the Impeding Factors to Affect e-Trade Service (전자무역 서비스의 활용 저해요인에 관한 실증연구)

  • In order to improve e-Trade service, this paper has deduced impeding factors after review of precedent research on e-Trade and analysis of e-Trade current status. Then an empirical analysis of whether variables deduced are detrimental factors to utilization of e-Trade service has been made on the basis of a research model and relevant hypotheses. The scope of e-Trade service indicated in this paper is limited to use of uTradeHub system. Analytical results for the improvement of e-Trade service clearly indicate that the higher the impeding factor to utilization of the system integration, logistics and customs clearance, marketing and users field, the more necessary the service improvement for invigoration of e-Trade service. However, foreign exchange field does not seem to require attention because SMEs have not active will to do electronic payment through the process of electronic documents.

  • We present a new framework for rental capacity management in which rental capacity is dynamically managed by means of temporary inventory addition/return. While serving customers with its own (native) capacity, the rental firm rents additional rental capacity from an upper echelon rental company so that it can avoid lost sales which may occur when stock is not sufficient, and returns it when stock becomes sufficiently large enough to cope with demands. Formulating the model as a Markov decision process, we investigate a flexible capacity addition/return policy that maximizes the firm's profit with respect to system costs. Numerical study indicates that rental operation with capacity addition/return can be economically favorable over rental operation without capacity expansion/return and can contribute the reduction in the size of native rental capacity.

  • This paper proposes an effective method on the DFILS(Design for Integrated Logistics Support) in ammunition development applying QFD(Quality Function Deployment) method. The goal of this research is to define the Design for ILS approach at the start of the ammunition development and to yield a set of reusable requirements. Based on 000mm High-Explosive(Warship ammunition) development work, a QFD software tool, CUPID, was used to analyze and define the field force's requirements. Additionally, a set of reusable requirements are identified and defined for use during the Design for ILS development phase in the next-generation ammunition development process. These set of requirements that consider both the priority and importance of the VOC(Voice of Customer) will contribute to the early phase of the ammunition development to implement the Design for ILS specialty engineering effort.

  • Since world container throughput continues to grow, the main issues facing decision-makers at port container terminals are how to expand the existing container terminals and construct new container terminals. Simulations can be used in the decision making process tools due to its ease and ability to reflect the real world system. The object-oriented approach provides for both reusability and modularity that best fits these requirements. In this paper, the object-oriented approach to modeling and simulating general container terminals is presented.   • The ROK TRANSCOM and Army Logistics Command have established wartime overland transportation plans. They have to mobilize several wartime overland transportation troops in order to meet the wartime transportation requirement. But there are some uncertainties in the process of transportation such as the number of vehicles to mobilize, the vehicle utilization factor, and round trip time. Here, we established two models. One is the simulation model to evaluate the transportation capability considering uncertain factors. The simulation model is executed with two scenarios and then the results are analyzed through a sensitivity analysis. The other model is the regression model to analyze the effects of transportation factors toward capability.
