This paper presents the processing of nonlinear features associated with a damage event by quadratic time-frequency distributions for damage identification in a frame structure. A time-frequency distribution is a function which distributes the total energy of a signal at a particular time and frequency point. As the occurrence of damage often gives rise to non-stationary, nonlinear structural behavior, simultaneous representation of the dynamic response in the time-frequency plane offers valuable insight for damage detection. The applicability of the bilinear time-frequency distributions of the Cohen class is examined for the damage assessment of a frame structure from the simulated acceleration data. It is shown that the changes in instantaneous energy of the dynamic response could be a good damage indicator. Presence and location of damage can be identified using Choi-Williams distribution when damping is ignored. However, in the presence of damping the Page distribution is more effective and offers better readability for structural damage detection.
The aim of this paper is to understand the time averaged pressure distributions in a high-speed centrifugal compressor channel diffuser at design and off-design flow rates. Pressure distributions from the impeller exit to the channel diffuser exit are measured and discussed far various flow rates from choke to near surge condition, and the effect of operating condition is discussed. The strong non-uniformity in the pressure distribution is obtained over the vaneless space and semi-vaneless space caused by the impeller-diffuser interaction. As the flow rate increases, flow separation near the throat, due to large incidence angle at the vane leading edge, increases aerodynamic blockage and reduces the aerodynamic flow area downstream. Thus the minimum pressure location occurs downstream of the geometric throat, and it is named as the aerodynamic throat. And at choke condition, normal shock occurs downstream of this aerodynamic throat. The variation in the location of the aerodynamic throat is discussed.
In this paper, we consider the problem of spectrum sensing for advanced television systems committee (ATSC) digital television (DTV) signal detection. To exploit the cyclostationarity of the ATSC DTV signals, we employ spectral correlation density (SCD) as the decision statistic and propose an optimal detection algorithm. The major difficulty is in obtaining the probability distribution functions of the SCD. To overcome the difficulty, we probabilistically model the pilot frequency location and employ Gaussian approximation for the SCD distribution. Then, we obtain a practically implementable detection algorithm that outperforms the industry leading systems by 2-3 dB. We also propose various techniques that greatly reduce the system complexity with performance degradation by only a few tenths of decibels. Finally, we show how robust the system is to the estimation errors of the noise power spectral density level and the probability distribution of the pilot frequency location.

This paper presented Fuzzy logic application to Electrical power system analysis for fault location estimation in distribution lines and apply the Power system theory to be fuzzy logic database. The case study referred to the Overhead distribution line of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA.), Thailand which mostly the distribution line of PEA. are Radial schemes. These benefits include reduced outage time, help in locating momentary faults, enhance safety to the line crews and provide notification of an outage without receiving calls from the consumer, Which these benefits also increase Reliability, Stability and Efficiency.
This paper proposes a method of estimating the lifetime distribution at use condition for constant stress accelerated life tests when an infant-mortality failure mode as well as wear-out one exists. General limited failure population model is introduced to describe these failure modes. It is assumed that the log lifetime of each failure mode follows a location-scale distribution and a linear relation exists between the location parameter and the stress. An estimation procedure using the expectation and maximization algorithm is proposed. Specific formulas for Weibull distribution are obtained. An illustrative example and the simulation results are given.
This paper presents a fault location algorithm using iterative method at unbalance condition for distribution feeder systems. Distribution feeders include single phase and three phase laterals. The proposed algorithm achieves a high accuracy by continuously updating voltage and current phasor using the phase components and admittance load model.

In this paper, we derive exact explicit expressions for the triple and quadruple moments of the lower record values from inverse the Weibull (IW) distribution. Next, we present and calculate the coefficients of the best linear unbiased estimates of the location and scale parameters of IW distribution (BLUEs) for different choices of the shape parameter and records size. We then use the higher order moments and the calculated BLUEs to compute the mean, variance, and the coefficients of skewness and kurtosis of certain linear functions of lower record values. By using the coefficients of the skewness and kurtosis, we develop approximate confidence intervals for the location and scale parameters of the IW distribution using Edgeworth approximate values and then compare them with the corresponding intervals constructed through Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, we apply the findings of the paper to some simulated data.

In this paper we presented a Bayesian inference approach for estimating the location and scale parameters of the lognormal distribution using iterative Gibbs sampling algorithm. We also presented estimation of location parameter by two non iterative methods, importance sampling and weighted bootstrap assuming scale parameter as known. The estimates by non iterative techniques do not depend on the specification of hyper parameters which is optimal from the Bayesian point of view. The estimates obtained by more sophisticated Gibbs sampler vary slightly with the choices of hyper parameters. The objective of this paper is to illustrate these tools in a simpler setup which may be essential in more complicated situations.

In this paper, we derive recurrence relations for the single and product moments of progressively Type-II right censored order statistics from half logistic distribution. Next, we derive the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the location and scale parameters of the half logistic distribution. In addition, we use the setup proposed by Balakrishnan and Aggarwala (2000) to compute the approximate best linear unbiased estimates (ABLUEs) of the location and scale parameters. Finally, we point out a simulation study to compare between the efficiency of the techniques considered for the estimation.

The problem treated is that of locating distribution centers(depot) in a network, so as to minimize the total cost which is the sum of transportation cost, (from factory to centers and from centers to demand points), construction cost, inventory cost and traffic increasing cost. This problem is mathematically an integer program and a non-linear model. This study avoids various inefficient aspects, which many studies have shown, by introducing a matrix notation, node and link function. An algorithm, for determining the optimal location of distribution center which has zone in which demand points are located at some node of a network, is presented. Finally this paper describes a numerical example and discusses its results.
