  • Social infrastructure facilities that have been under construction since the country's high-growth period are undergoing rapid aging, and safety assessments of large structures such as bridge tunnels, which can be directly linked to large-scale casualties in the event of an accident, are necessary. Wireless smart sensor networks that improve SHM(Structural Health Monitoring) based on existing wire sensors are difficult to construct economical and efficient system due to short signal reach. The LPWAN, Low Power Wide Area Network, is becoming popular with the Internet of Things and it is possible to construct economical and efficient SHM by applying it to structural health monitoring. This study examines the applicability of LoRa LPWAN to structural health monitoring and proposes a channel usage pre-planning based LoRa network operation method that can efficiently utilize bandwidth while resolving conflicts between channels caused by using license - exempt communication band.

  • LoRaWan(Long Range Wide Area Network)은 저전력, 장거리 특성을 가진 무선 통신기술로 그 특성상 스마트 시티(Smart City), IoT(Internet of Things) 등에 각광받고 있다.

  • The IoT-based sensor network is one of the methods that can be efficiently applied to maintain the facilities, such as bridges, at a low cost. In this study, based on LoRa LPWAN, one of the IoT communications, sensor board for cable tension monitoring, data acquisition board for constructing sensor network along with existing measurement sensors, are developed to create bridge structural health monitoring system. In addition, we designed and manufactured a smart sensor node for LoRa communication and established a sensor network for monitoring. Further, we constructed a test bed at the Yeonggwang Bridge to verify the performance of the system. The test bed verification results suggested that the LoRa LPWAN-based sensor network can be applied as one of the technologies for monitoring the bridge structure soundness; this is excellent in terms of data rate, accuracy, and economy.

  • IoT devices are widely used in network construction and are increasing. If necessary, heterogeneous IoT devices are used for data transmission. This paper proposes to prevent the method of data loss due to differences in throughput when the local network is constructed by Bluetooth 5 and long range network does by LoRa(Long Range). Data loss occur when the data transmits through LoRa, due to the throughputs of Bluetooth 5 faster than that of LoRa. The prevent method proposed by this paper can apply not only Bluetooth 5 and LoRa but heterogeneous IoT devices and expect to prevent data loss due to differences in throughput between heterogeneous IoT devices. Also, this paper shows the simulation result by applying the proposed avoid method. In this paper, two way to the preventive method shows the data transmission ratio and amount of memory that of necessity.

  • There has been a steady study of unmanned vehicle. So far, continuous research has brought news of the commercialization of unmanned vehicle. In addition, it has been applied in a variety of fields with another industry. A lot of research has been done, too, to apply inert driving indoors. Using LoRa network, which is a network dedicated to IoT, unmanned vehicle control system that is applied to LoRa network from a small space, or from an office hospital to a factory, is installed to increase efficiency when the performs special tasks. This paper presents solutions to a variety of problems by using LoRa network, which is dedicated to IoT, to recognize an unmanned vehicle as a single object, to communicate with surrounding objects, and to receive information necessary for driving indoors from a cloud server.

  • This paper presents problems of network technology in smart grid and implements a blockchain-based LoRa multi-hop network to solve them. Since some smart grid applications are operated in harsh environments, it is difficult to establish communication infrastructure. We propose a LoRa network with multi-hop using the Flooding routing protocol. Smart grid environment composes an independent network using various power grid protocols depending on the application. Since this has a problem that an independent infrastructure must be established for each network, a single gateway device supports multiple power grid protocols to implement a method for network integration. Lastly, the author applied Hyperledger-based blockchain to the LoRa network to ensure the integrity of data in a smart grid environment, and strengthened security by physically distributing it. After constructing the three suggestions on the actual test bed, we confirmed that the network operates normally through experiments.

  • To protect workers from industrial accidents, IoT hazard detection system using LoRa network was designed and fabricated. LoRa networks can operate with low power consumption, wide coverage, and low usage fees. The hazard detection system consists of a sensor unit, a transceiver module, a LoRa base station, ThingPlug, and a monitoring device. We have designed an optimal risk-determining algorithm that can send information quickly in a working environment. As measured by TTA, the implemented system has been found to be able to deliver the worker's location, ambient temperature, and carbon monoxide density to the administrator through the user interface. The implemented system showed a bit rate of 290bps and a maximum application range of 6 km.

  • Ministry of oceans and Fisheries declared action plan for the electric fishing gear using real name in order to prevent overusing the fishing gear and to reduce discarded fishing gear. It is needed for a technique that can efficiently transmit the information including the type and location of the fishing gear and the user's real name to the fishing boat and the control center using IoT-based communication. In this paper, we propose the buoy-launched terminal equipment and ship-launched gateway equipment based on LoRa technology for effectively executing the electric fishing gear using real name. We design and fabricate to communicate 1(gateway):200(buoy) each other under 900 MHz ISM band by using SEMTECH SX1276 chip. Also, we experiment the test on the sea and analyze the test results to prove the implementation possibility of the proposed equipments for the electric fishing gear using real name.

  • LoRa LPWAN network system uses a license-exempt wireless communication system and implements data measurement through the integrated sensor based on Mems and wireless communication of existing measurement sensors. This system has superior technological / economic superiority using existing network and long distance communication compared to existing wireless measurement system, and secured economical efficiency by minimizing system construction equipment compared to wired measurement system. It is confirmed that the economical efficiency can be reduced by 41% compared to the conventional wired metering system. Since the LoRa LPWAN network system is excellent in terms of maintenance and operation, if installed in many bridges in Korea in the future, it will be developed as an excellent system in the maintenance of bridges. • This paper proposes and implements a LoRa-based emergency exit guide system which can direct the optimal refuge path accounting for the real state of the fires. Each 4-way emergency exit guide sign presents a right direction through one of four LED signs toward the possible exit dynamically calculated by the shortest path algorithm. We constructed a simulation environment with 8 spots of the emergency exit guide signs and 2 exits, which can simulate variant cases of fire accidents, and showed that the proposed algorithm can presents the right guidance for each emergency exit guide sign. We also evaluated the performances of LoRa-based wireless communications using a self developed communication module in the various indoor and outdoor environments. The proposed system can be applied to small and medium sized buildings as well as larger ones in terms of cost efficiency, in which there's no needs to invest for the complex equipments except only sensors and emergency exit guide signs.
