과학기술위성 3호의 리튬 이온 배터리 운용 시스템 개발 (Development of STSAT-3 Battery Management System)

  • 본 논문은 과학기술위성3호 리튬이온 배터리의 배터리 운용 시스템에 대해 소개한다. 위성에 전력을 공급하기위한 리튬이온 배터리의 요구조건과 리튬 이온 배터리의 운용 시스템의 전반적인 디자인 방법들을 설명하였다. 더 나아가 이러한 설계 내용들을 검증하기 위하여 검증 모델을 제작하여 기능 테스트들을 수행하였고 이러한 결과 들을 통해서 BMS와 사용된 리튬이온 cell의 성능을 확인하였다.

  • Lithium ion batteries have been widely adopted as energy storage and the LIB global market has grown fastest. However, LIB players have struggled against maximizing energy density since commercial monolithic electrodes are limited by electrolyte depletion caused by long and tortuous Li-ion diffusion pathways. Recently, new strategies designing the structure of battery electrodes strive for creating fast Li-ion path and alleviating electrolyte depletion problem in monolithic electrodes. In this paper, given the fundamental and experimental approaches, we compare the monolithic to structured electrodes and demonstrate the ways to fabricate high energy, fast chargeable Lithium ion battery.

A Study on the Life Prediction of Lithium Ion Batteries Based on a Convolutional Neural Network Model

  • Recently, green energy support policies have been announced around the world in accordance with environmental regulations, and asthe market grows rapidly, demand for batteries is also increasing. Therefore, various methodologies for battery diagnosis and recycling methods are being discussed, but current accurate life prediction of batteries has limitations due to the nonlinear form according to the internal structure or chemical change of the battery. In this paper, CS2 lithium-ion battery measurement data measured at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Marylan was used to predict battery performance with high accuracy using a convolutional neural network (CNN) model among deep learning-based models. As a result, the battery performance was predicted with high accuracy. A data structure with a matrix of total data 3,931 ☓ 19 was designed as test data for the CS2 battery and checking the result values, the MAE was 0.8451, the RMSE was 1.3448, and the accuracy was 0.984, confirming excellent performance.

  • In this paper, lithium-ion-polymer battery based standalone photovoltaic energy storage is presented. conventional system was difficult to choose hi-directional DC-DC converter because of unbalanced voltage of batteries. The other side, lithium-ion-polymer battery hardly contains unbalanced voltage between each batteries. And Lithium Polymer Battery is clean battery because is doesn't contain heavy metals such as Nickel, Cadmium. We analyzed validity of algorithms according to load pattern for the system through the simulation and experimental results.

A Study on Optimal Operation Strategy for Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle Based on Hybrid Energy Storage System

  • This paper proposed an optimal operation strategy for a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) with a lithium-ion battery and lead-acid battery for mild hybrid electric vehicles (mild HEVs). The proposed mild HEV system is targeted to mount the electric motor and the battery to a conventional internal combustion engine vehicle. Because the proposed mild HEV includes the motor and energy storage device of small capacity, the system focuses on low system cost and small size. To overcome these limitations, it is necessary to use a lead acid battery which is used for a vehicle. Thus, it is possible to use more energy using HESS with a lithium battery and a lead storage battery. The HESS, which combines the lithium-ion battery and the secondary battery in parallel, can achieve better performance by using the two types of energy storage systems with different characteristics. However, the system requires an operation strategy because accurate and selective control of the batteries for each situation is necessary. In this paper, an optimal operation strategy is proposed considering characteristics of each energy storage system, state-of-charge (SOC), bidirectional converters, the desired output power, and driving conditions in the mild HEV system. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through several case studies with respect to energy capacity, SOC, battery characteristic, and system efficiency.

최근 휴대폰용 배터리의 기술개발 동향 (Recent Trend of Lithium Secondary Batteries for Cellular Phones)

  • 이 리뷰를 통하여, 휴대폰용 리튬이차전지의 최근 기술동향을 설명하였다. 휴대폰용 이차전지로는 니카드, 니켈-금속수소, 리튬이온 혹은 리튬이온폴리머의 세 가지 형태의 전지가 있으며, 리튬 이차전지가 에너지밀도 측면에서 가장 성능이 우수하다. 즉, 동일한 용량을 갖는 이차전지 가운데 가장 작고 가벼운 것은 리튬이차전지이다. 이러한 리튬이차전지의 시장은 매년 약 15%의 높은 성장을 기록하고 있다. 연구개발은 $LiFePO_4$를 포함하는 새로운 양극, $Li_4Ti_5O_{10}$, Si, 주석 등의 새로운 음극소재, 새로운 전해질과 안정성 확보에 관한 것을 중심으로 진행되고 있다.

연축전지와 리튬이온전지용 하이브리드 ESS의 최적구성방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimation Method for Optimal Composition Rate of Hybrid ESS Using Lead-acid and Lithium-ion Batteries)

  • The large scaled lead-acid battery is widely used for efficient operation of the photovoltaic system in many islands. However, lithium-ion battery is now being introduced to mitigate the fluctuation of wind power and to replace lead-acid battery. Therefore, hybrid ESS(Energy Storage system) that combines lithium-ion battery with lead-acid battery is being required because lithium-ion battery is costly in present stage. Under this circumstance, this paper presents the optimal algorithm to create composition rate of hybrid ESS by considering fixed and variable costs in order to maximize advantage of each battery. With minimization of total cost including fixed and variable costs, the optimal composition rate can be calculated based on the various scenarios such as load variation, life cycle and cost trend. From simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithms are an effective tool to produce a optimal composition rate.

  • 현재 대부분의 도서지역에서는 태양광발전을 효율적으로 운용하기 위하여 대용량 연축전지가 많이 사용되고 있지만, 풍력발전의 도입, 축전지 교체로 인하여 리튬이온전지의 도입이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존에 많이 보급되어 사용되고 있는 연축전지와 리튬이온전지의 장점을 최대한 활용하기 위하여, 연축전지와 리튬이온전지용 하이브리드 ESS의 최적 운용평가를 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 상기의 알고리즘을 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과, 각 전지의 도입비용과 운용비용이 최소화 되는 운용조건에서 최적구성비를 산출하였다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서 제안한 하이브리드 ESS의 최적구성 알고리즘에 대한 유용성을 확인하였다.

리튬 이온전지용 알루미늄 박판의 블랭킹 공정에 관한 연구 (Blanking Process of Aluminum Thin Sheet for Lithium Ion Battery)

  • Lithium ion batteries are generally manufactured by laser and etching using aluminum thin sheet. These processes are relatively expensive and have low productivity. In this study, blanking process of aluminum thin sheet for lithium ion battery was employed to replace laser cutting and etching process, all to reduce the production cost and improve productivity. Mechanical properties for aluminum and coating were determined by experimental results and rule of mixture for FE analysis of blanking process. Normalized Cockcroft-Latham criteria was also applied to describe shear behavior and critical damage values were determined by comparison of analytical and experimental result. We performed FE analysis to investigate the effects of clearance and punch-die radius on sheared surface of aluminum thin sheet and to determine optimal process condition. We manufactured the die set using the determined optimal process and conducted an experiment to confirm the feasibility of blanking process. The sheared surface of manufactured product was observed by optical microscope. As a results, the proposed process conditions successfully achieved the dimensional requirement in production of lithium ion battery parts.
