  • This paper is about the code that realizes the $e^N$-Method for boundary-layer transition prediction. The $e^N$-Method based on the linear stability theory is applied to predicting boundary-layer transition frequently. This paper deals with the construction of code, stability analysis and the calculation of N-factor. The results of transition prediction using the $e^N$-Method for flat plate/cone compressible boundary-layers are presented.

  • In this paper, numerical robust stability analysis method and its design are presented. L$_2$robust stability of the fuzzy system is analyzed by casting the systems into the diagonal norm bounded linear differential inclusions (DNLDI) formulation. Based on the linear matix inequality (LMI) optimization programming, a numerical method for finding the maximum stable ranges of the fuzzy feedback linarization control gains is proposed.

  • As part of study on separated flow using the vortex particle method, stability of the method and particle redistribution were scrutinized. Stability was investigated by choosing different combination of numerical parameters. The Gaussian vortex was considered to make the problem simple by eliminating the complexity due to presence of walls. It was shown that the numerical method was stable when $v{\Delta}t/h^2{\leq}0.5$. In all the stable cases the circulation and the linear momentum were conserved. Without the particle redistribution, the angular momentum was severely attenuated.

  • In this paper, we design a tracking controller which satisfies transient response specifications and maintains tracking error within a tolerable limit for the uncertain track-following system of an optical disk drive. To this end, a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem with regional stability constraints and sinusoidal disturbance rejection is considered. The internal model principle is used for rejecting the sinusoidal disturbance caused by eccentric rotation of the disk. We show that a condition satisfying the regional stability constraints can be expressed in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) using the Lyapunov theory and S-procedure. Finally, a tracking controller is obtained by solving an LMI optimization problem involving two linear matrix inequalities. The proposed controller design method is evaluated through an experiment.

  • This paper deals with the problem of robust pole-assignment control for linear systems with structured uncertainty. It considers two cases whose colsed-loop characteristic equations are presented as a family of interval polynomial and polytopic polynomial family respectively. We propose a method of finding the pole-placement region in which the fixed gain controller guarantees the required damping ratio and stability margin despite parameter perturbation. Some results of Kharitonov like stability and two kinds of transformations are included. As an illustrative example, we show that the proposed method can apply effectivly to the single magnet levitation system including some uncertainties (mass, inductance etc.).

  • since the controller is part or the overall closed-Loop system, it is necessary that the designed controller be able to tolerate some uncertainty in its coefficients. The adequate stability and performance margins are required for the designed nominal controllers. In the paper. we study the method to design the non-fragile fixed-structured controller for real parametric uncertain systems. When we impose the controller parameter perturbation, the structure of the controller must be given. Therefore, we assume that the controller has fixed-structure. The fixed-structure controller is practically necessary especially when the robust controller synthesis results in a high-order controller. In SISO systems, we propose the robust controller design method using the Mapping theorem. In the method, the plant uncertainty and controller Parameter are of the multilineal form in the stability and performance conditions. Then, the controller synthesis problem is easily recast to Linear Programming Problem.

  • This paper describes modeling Voltage Sourced Inverter (VSI) type Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controllers and control methods for power system dynamic stability studies. The considered FACTS controllers are the Static Compensator (STATCOM), the Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), and the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). In this paper, these FACTS controllers are derived in the current injection model, and it is applied to the linear and nonlinear analysis algorithm for power system dynamics studies. The parameters of the FACTS controllers are set to damp the inter-area oscillations, and the supplementary damping controllers and its control schemes are proposed to increase damping abilities of the FACTS controllers. For these works, the linear analysis for each FACTS controller with or without damping controller is executed, and the dynamic characteristics of each FACTS controller are analyzed. The results are verified by the nonlinear analysis using the time-domain simulation.

  • In this paper, a delay-dependent stability criterion for time-delayed linear parameter varying (LPV) systems is considered. Stability criterion has been developed on the basis of including x(t-h) and x(t) and introducing free variables to eliminate model dynamics. Since the resultant criterion is formed parameterized linear matrix inequalities (PLMIs), we propose a relaxation technique that allows to find an LMI formulation. Examples demonstrate the efficiency of the criterion over the existing results.

  • Water and energy supplies are the key factors affecting the economic development and environmental improvement of Turkey. Given their important role and the fact that a large part of Turkey is in seismically active zones dams should be accurately analyzed since failure could have a serious impact on the local population environment and on a wider level could affect the economy. In this paper, a procedure is proposed for the static, slope stability, seepage and dynamic analysis of an earth dam and the Pamukcay embankment dam. The acceleration time history and maximum horizontal peak ground accelerations of the $Bing\ddot{o}l$ (2003) earthquake data was used based on Maximum Design Earthquake (MDE) data. Numerical analysis showed that, the Pamukcay dam is likely to experience moderate deformations during the design earthquake but will remain stable after the earthquake is applied. The result also indicated that, non-linear analysis capable of capturing dominant non-linear mechanism can be used to assess the stability of embankment dams.

  • We give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the linear delay difference equation $x_{n+1}\;-\;a^2x_{n-1}\;+\;bx_{n-k}\;=\;0$, n = 0, 1,$\cdots$, where a and b are arbitrary real numbers and k is a positive integer greater than 1. The obtained conditions are given in terms of parameters a and b of difference equations. The method of proof is based on arithematic of complex numbers as well as properties of analytic functions.
