The current global energy supply depends heavily on fossil fuels. This makes technology such as direct water splitting from harvesting solar energy in photoelectrochemical (PEC) systems potentially attractive due to its a promising route for environmentally benign hydrogen production. In this study, undoped and nickel-doped molybdenum oxide photoanodes (called photoanodes S1 and S2 respectively) were synthesized through electrodeposition by applying -1.377 V vs Ag/AgCl (3 M KCl) for 3 hours on an FTO-coated glass substrate immersed in molibdatecitrate aqueous solutions at pH 9. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used for microstructural and compositional characterizations of the photoanodes. In addition, the optical and photoelectrochemical characterizations of these photoanodes were performed by UV-Visible spectroscopy, and linear scanning voltammetry (LSV) respectively. The results showed that all the photoanodes produced exhibit conductivity and catalytic properties that make them attractive for water splitting application in a photoelectrochemical cell. In this context, the photoanode S2 exhibited better photocatalytic activity than the photoanode S1. In addition, photoanode S2 had the lowest optical band-gap energy value (2.58 eV), which would allow better utilization of the solar spectrum.

In this study, we undertook detailed experiments to increase hydrogen production efficiency by optimizing the thickness of titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films. TiO2 films were deposited on p-type silicon (Si) wafers using atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology. The main goal was to identify the optimal thickness of TiO2 film that would maximize hydrogen production efficiency while maintaining stable operating conditions. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties of the TiO2 films of different thicknesses were evaluated using open circuit potential (OCP) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) analysis. These techniques play a pivotal role in evaluating the electrochemical behavior and photoactivity of semiconductor materials in PEC systems. Our results showed photovoltage tended to improve with increasing thickness of TiO2 deposition. However, this improvement was observed to plateau and eventually decline when the thickness exceeded 1.5 nm, showing a correlation between charge transfer efficiency and tunneling. On the other hand, LSV analysis showed bare Si had the greatest efficiency, and that the deposition of TiO2 caused a positive change in the formation of photovoltage, but was not optimal. We show that oxide tunneling-capable TiO2 film thicknesses of 1~2 nm have the potential to improve the efficiency of PEC hydrogen production systems. This study not only reveals the complex relationship between film thickness and PEC performance, but also enabled greater efficiency and set a benchmark for future research aimed at developing sustainable hydrogen production technologies.
A composite film of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/sol-gel-derived zinc oxide(ZnO)/Nafion has been utilized as an efficient immobilization matrix for the construction of a highly sensitive and stable tris(2,2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) (Ru(${bpy)_3}^{2+})$ electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) sensor. The electrochemical and ECL behaviors of Ru(${bpy)_3}^{2+})$ ion-exchanged into the composite film were strongly dependent upon the sol-gel preparation condition, the amount of MWCNT incorporated into the ZnO/Nafion composite film, and the buffer solution pH. The synergistic effect of MWCNTs and ZnO in the composite films increased not only the sensitivity but also the long-term stability of the ECL sensor. The present ECL sensor based on the MWCNT/ZnO/Nafion gave a linear response ($R^2$ = 0.999) for tripropylamine concentration from 500 nM to 1.0 mM with a remarkable detection limit (S/N = 3) of 15 nM. The present ECL sensor showed outstanding long-term stability (94% initial signal retained for 5 weeks). Since the present ECL sensor exhibits large response towards NADH, it could be applied as a transduction platform for the ECL biosensor in which the NADH is produced from the dehydrogenase-based enzymatic reaction in the presence of NA$D^+$ cofactor.

Purpose: This study evaluated the radiopacity of contemporary luting cements using conventional and digital radiography. Materials and Methods: Disc specimens (N=24, n=6 per group, ø$7mm{\times}1mm$) were prepared using 4 resin-based luting cements (Duolink, Multilink N, Panavia F 2.0, and U-cem). The specimens were radiographed using films, a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor, and a photostimulable phosphor plate (PSP) with a 10-step aluminum step wedge (1 mm incremental steps) and a 1-mm-thick tooth cut. The settings were 70 kVp, 4 mA, and 30 cm, with an exposure time of 0.2 s for the films and 0.1 s for the CMOS sensor and PSP. The films were scanned using a scanner. The radiopacity of the luting cements and tooth was measured using a densitometer for the film and NIH ImageJ software for the images obtained from the CMOS sensor, PSP, and scanned films. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: Multilink (3.44-4.33) showed the highest radiopacity, followed by U-cem (1.81-2.88), Panavia F 2.0 (1.51-2.69), and Duolink (1.48-2.59). The $R^2$ values of the optical density of the aluminum step wedge were 0.9923 for the films, 0.9989 for the PSP, 0.9986 for the scanned films, and 0.9266 for the CMOS sensor in the linear regression models. Conclusion: The radiopacities of the luting materials were greater than those of aluminum or dentin at the same thickness. PSP is recommended as a detector for radiopacity measurements because of its accuracy and convenience.

Oxide thin film transistors (TFTs) have attracted considerable interest for gate diver and pixel switching devices of the active matrix (AM) liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) display because of their high field effect mobility, transparency in visible light region, and low temperature processing below $300^{\circ}C$. Recently, oxide TFTs with polycrystalline In-Ga-O(IGO) channel layer reported by Ebata. et. al. showed a amazing field effect mobility of $39.1cm^2/Vs$. The reason having high field effect mobility of IGO TFTs is because $In_2O_3$ has a bixbyite structure in which linear chains of edge sharing InO6 octahedral are isotropic. In this work, we investigated the characteristics and the effects of oxygen partial pressure significantly changed the IGO thin-films and IGO TFTs transfer characteristics. IGO thin-film were fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering with different oxygen partial pressure ($O_2/(Ar+O_2)$, $Po_2$)ratios. IGO thin film Varies depending on the oxygen partial pressure of 0.1%, 1%, 3%, 5%, 10% have been some significant changes in the electrical characteristics. Also the IGO TFTs VTH value conspicuously shifted in the positive direction, from -8 to 11V as the $Po_2$ increased from 1% to 10%. At $Po_2$ was 5%, IGO TFTs showed a high drain current on/off ratio of ${\sim}10^8$, a field-effect mobility of $84cm^2/Vs$, a threshold voltage of 1.5V, and a subthreshold slpe(SS) of 0.2V/decade from log(IDS) vs VGS.
In this paper, an electrochemical sensor for epinephrine (EP), a neurotransmitter was developed by anchoring molecularly imprinted polymeric matrix (MIP) on the surface of gold-coated quartz crystal electrode of electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) using starch nanoparticles (Starch NP) - reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposite as polymeric format for the first time. Use of EP in therapeutic treatment requires proper dose and route of administration. Proper follow-up of neurological disorders and timely diagnosis of them has been found to depend on EP level. The MIP sensor was developed by electrodeposition of starch NP-RGO composite on EQCM electrode in presence of template EP. As the imprinted sites are located on the surface, high specific surface area enables good accessibility and high binding affinity to template molecule. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and piezoelectrogravimmetry were used for monitoring binding/release, rebinding of template to imprinted cavities. MIP-coated EQCM electrode were characterized by contact angle measurements, AFM images, piezoelectric responses including viscoelasticity of imprinted films, and other voltammetric measurements including direct (DPV) and indirect (using a redox probe) measurements. Selectivity was assessed by imprinting factor (IF) as high as 3.26 (DPV) and 3.88 (EQCM). Sensor was rigorously checked for selectivity in presence of other structurally close analogues, real matrix (blood plasma), reproducibility, repeatability, etc. Under optimized conditions, the EQCM-MIP sensor showed linear dynamic ranges ($1-10{\mu}M$). The limit of detection 40 ppb (DPV) and 290 ppb (EQCM) was achieved without any cross reactivity and matrix effect indicating high sensitivity and selectivity for EP. Hence, an eco-friendly MIP-sensor with high sensitivity and good selectivity was fabricated which could be applied in "real" matrices in a facile manner.
We present a technique for fabricating low leakage organic field-effect transistors by a functional polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer. The technique relies on the photo-chemical process of conversion of the PDMS to a silicon oxide which provides the selective growth of pentacene thin films. The reduced gate leakage current showed ${\sim}10^{-10}$ A in a linear ($V_d=-5\;V$) and saturation ($V_d=-30\;V$) region at $V_g-V_t>0$.
The lithium ion concentration dependant ionic conductivity and thermal properties of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA)/acrylonitrile-based copolymer electrolytes with $LiClO_4$ have been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and AC complex impedance measurements. In systems with 11 wt% of acrylonitrile all liquid electrolytes were obtained regardless of lithium ion concentration. Complex impedance measurements with stainless steel electrodes give ambient ionic conductivities $8.1\times10^{-6}\sim1.4\times10^{-4}S cm^{-1}$. On the other hand, a hard and soft films at ambient temperature were obtained in copolymer electrolyte system consists of 15 wt% acrylonitrile with 6 : 1 and 3 : 1 of [EO] : [Li] ratio, respectively. DSC measurements indicate the crystalline melting temperature of poly(PEGMA) disappeared completely after addition of $LiClO_4$ in this system due to the complex formation between ethylene oxide (EO) unit and lithium salt. As a result, free standing film with room temperature ionic conductivity of $1.7\times10^{-4}S cm^{-1}$ and high electrochemical stability up to 5.5V was obtained by controlling of acrylonitrile and lithium salt concentration.
A handheld sheet resistance meter that can easily and quickly measure the sheet resistance of indium tin oxide films was developed. The dual-configuration four-point probe method was adopted for this instrument, which measured sheet resistance in the range from $0.26{\Omega}/sq$. to $2.6k{\Omega}/sq$. with 0.3 % ~ 0.5 % uncertainty. The screen of the instrument displayed the sheet resistance when the probe was in contact with the sample surface and the value continued to be displayed during the probe contact. Even after separating the probe from the surface, the value was still displayed on the screen and could be read easily. A feature of the instrument was the use of the dual-configuration technique to reduce edge effects markedly compared with the single-configuration technique and its ease of operation without applying correction factors for sample size and thickness.
