A Study of Transitional Performance with Change of Inlet Pressure in Liquid Propellant Rocket Engine (액체로켓엔진에서 입구압 변화에 따른 엔진 성능 변화 고찰)

  • In this work it was studied that the effect on sub-component of engine considering change of engine inlet pressure caused by variable acceleration during flight of launcher. Also the transitional performance was predicted according to variable acceleration. Engine inlet pressure was defined as summation of propellant head in tank, ullage pressure and pressure difference of line, etc. Therefore consumption of propellant and acceleration of launcher led to change of engine inlet pressure, which affected on discharge pressure of pumps. This effect changed mass flow rate of gas generator and main combustor hence it was observed that engine performance was changed definitely.

  • 회전기기의 운전 상태에서 on-line 부분 방전시험은 고정자 권선의 절연상태를 검사, 평가 할 수 있는 중요한 수단으로서 이러한 부분방전시험을 통하여 회전기기 시스템의 사고예방을 위한 진단을 할 수 있다. 기존의 비접촉식 센서인 SSC는 부분방전 측정을 위하여 권선의 웨지 아래에 설치하는 방식으로 개발되어 [1], 설치가 불편하고 Global VPI 방식으로 제작된 소형 회전기에는 설치할 수 없는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 소형 회전기에 사용가능한 저, 고주파용 부분방전 센서를 제안하였다. 웨지 위에 설치 가능한 SSC 형태의 마이크로스트립 센서 및 전송선로 이론을 이용한 2선 평행 전송선로 센서는 값이 싸고 소형 회전기에 설치할 수 있을 정도의 크기를 지니며, 기본적으로 센서의 구조가 고주파 웨이브가이드로서 고주파용 센서로 적합하다. 또한 저주파 신호를 검출하기 위한 센서로 로고우스키 코일 형태의 U 타입 센서는 와전류를 검출하는 센서로서 슬롯 외부에 설치 되어야 한다. 이러한 U 타입 센서와 마이크로스트립 센서 또는 2선 평행 전송선로를 동시에 설치할 경우 저, 고주파를 효과적으로 검출할 수 있다.

  • The objective of this study is the evaluation of the tunneling effect on the groundwater-surface water interaction. The designed tunnel line is laid beneath the Gapo-cheon, which runs throughout study area. And, the pre-evaluation of the tunnel-influence on the Gapo-cheon is urgently needed. However, it is very difficult to find out the similar domestic and/or foreign cases. In this study, we would exclude the numerical modeling technique with insufficient data. Instead of the evaluation of the tunneling effect on the groundwater-surface water interaction with the numerical modeling, we monitored the flow rate of surface water at various point. We measured the flow rate of surface water at 5 points. With the results of surface flow, we can conclude that 39% of flow rate in Gapo-cheon is contributed by the groundwater discharge, as baseflow.

  • A new developed impulse current test system(100kV, 250kJ)is presented, which can carry out all impulse current and performance tests on surge arrester sections with rated voltage up to 12kV according to IEC 60099-4(2001). The maximum achievable peak value is 200kA for the impulse current $4/10{\mu}s$ and 60kA for the $30/80{\mu}s$ and $8/20{\mu}s$. The long duration current impulse is realized from class 1 to class 5. The digital transient recorder(4 channels 60MS/S 10bit) is used for measuring AC voltage, impulse current, reference voltage and leakage current. The complex control, measuring, evaluation and data storage system is controlled by one industrial PC system.

Highly Robust AHHVSCR-Based ESD Protection Circuit

  • In this paper, a new structure for an advanced high holding voltage silicon controlled rectifier (AHHVSCR) is proposed. The proposed new structure specifically for an AHHVSCR-based electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit can protect integrated circuits from ESD stress. The new structure involves the insertion of a PMOS into an AHHVSCR so as to prevent a state of latch-up from occurring due to a low holding voltage. We use a TACD simulation to conduct a comparative analysis of three types of circuit - (i) an AHHVSCR-based ESD protection circuit having the proposed new structure (that is, a PMOS inserted into the AHHVSCR), (ii) a standard AHHVSCR-based ESD protection circuit, and (iii) a standard HHVSCR-based ESD protection circuit. A circuit having the proposed new structure is fabricated using $0.18{\mu}m$ Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS technology. The fabricated circuit is also evaluated using Transmission-Line Pulse measurements to confirm its electrical characteristics, and human-body model and machine model tests are used to confirm its robustness. The fabricated circuit has a holding voltage of 18.78 V and a second breakdown current of more than 8 A.

  • We are facing the serious environmental pollution difficulties such as acid rain, green house effects, etc. The gaseous matter NOx, SOx, VOCs which are regarded as main factors for these current pollutions are mainly emitted from power plants and vehicles. Therefore several leading countries are regulating the emissions strictly, especially the exhaust emissions from a Diesel engine without an aftertreatment device. The objective of this study is to find out soot and NO removal characteristics focused on the emissions of a Diesel engine by using nonthermal plasma for each engine speeds and loads. Electrostatic precipitator(wire-to-plate type reactor) is used for soot removal. Radicals generated from outer air and put into a mixing chamber in the end of exhaust line are used for NO removal. Concentration of exhaust emissions is analyzed from the gas analyzer(KaneMay) and FTIR to estimate by-products.

Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) Measurements of a Pulsed Electrothermal Plasma Jet

  • The characteristics of a pulsed plasma jet originating from an electrothermal capillary discharge have been investigate using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) measurement. Previous emission measurements of a 3.1 kJ plasma jet show trial upstream of the Mach disk the temperature and electron number density are about 14,000 K and and 10$\^$17/ cm$\^$-3/, while downstream of the Mach dick tole values are about 25,000 K and 10$\^$18/ cm$\^$-3/, respectively. However, these values are barred on line-of-sight integrated measurements that may be misleading. Hence, LIF is being used to provide both spatially and temporally resolved measurements. Our recent work has been directed at using planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging of atomic copper in the plasma jet flow field. Copper is a good candidate for PLIF studies because it is present throughout the plasma and has electronic transitions that provide an excellent pump-detect strategy. Our PLIF results to date show that emission measurements may give a misleading picture of the flow field, as there appeals to be a large amount of relatively low temperature copper outside the barrel shock. which may lead to errors in temperature inferred from emission spectroscopy. In this paper, the copper LIF image is presented and at the moment, relative density of atomic copper, which is distributed in the upstream of the pulsed plasma jet, is discussed qualitatively.

  • The rapid development of communication equipment and information processing technology has led to a constant improvement in cordless communication. Lithium ion batteries used in cellular phones and laptop computers, in particular, have been in the forefront of the above revolution. These batteries use high value added raw materials and have a high and stable energy output and are increasingly coming into common use. The development of the material for the negative terminal has led to an improvement in the quality and efficiency of the batteries, whereas a reduction in the cost of the battery by researching new materials for the positive anode has become a research theme by itself. These long life batteries, it is being increasingly realized, can have value added to them by recycling. Research is increasingly being done on recycling the aluminum case and the load casing for the negative diode.   • With the historical opening of the express rail, Korea has joined the league of France, Japan, Germany and Spain and entered into the super high-speed train era. Opening of the express rail will not only bring about enormous changes to the lives of Koreans, but it will also have a huge influence on the economic, social and cultural aspects of the country. With construction of the Seoul - Busan KTX line, railway passenger transportation capacity and freight transportation capacity will increase. Fast, safe, convenient and environmentally friendly, the express rail is a product of the latest technology and will secure its position as the newest and most preferred method of transportation for the next generation. As the traffic noise, train noise from KTX will become a social problems with the acceleration of speed and increase in the lines. In order to predict the train noise propagation from KTX, this paper presents the sound source system, the calculation model and the scale model experiment. Noise level unit patterns of a KTX that take the rolling noise, the motor noise and aerodynamic noise into consideration are simulated by the scale model experiment and numerical analysis.

Cathode Side Engineering to Raise Holding Voltage of SCR in a 0.5-㎛ 24 V CDMOS Process

  • A set of novel silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) devices' characteristics have been analyzed and verified under the electrostatic discharge (ESD) stress. A ring-shaped diffusion was added to their anode or cathode in order to improve the holding voltage (Vh) of SCR structure by creating new current discharging path and decreasing the emitter injection efficiency (${\gamma}$) of parasitic Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). ESD current density distribution imitated by 2-dimensional (2D) TCAD simulation demonstrated that an additional current path exists in the proposed SCR. All the related devices were investigated and characterized based on transmission line pulse (TLP) test system in a standard $0.5-{\mu}m$ 24 V CDMOS process. The proposed SCR devices with ring-shaped anode (RASCR) and ring-shaped cathode (RCSCR) own higher Vh than that of Simple SCR (S_SCR). Especially, the Vh of RCSCR has been raised above 33 V. What's more, their holding current is kept over 800 mA, which makes it possible to design power clamp with SCR structure for on chip ESD protection and keep the protected chip away from latch-up risk.
