  • This study proposes a single-stage light-emitting diode (LED) tube lamp driver with input-current shaping for T8/T10-type fluorescent lamp replacements. The proposed AC-DC LED driver integrates a dual-boost converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge series-resonant converter with a bridge rectifier into a single-stage power conversion topology. This paper presents the operational principles and design considerations for one T8-type 18 W-rated LED tube lamp with line input voltages ranging from 100 V rms to 120 V rms. Experimental results for the prototype driver show that the highest power factor (PF = 0.988), lowest input current total harmonic distortion (THD = 7.22%), and highest circuit efficiency (η = 92.42%) are obtained at an input voltage of 120 V. Hence, the proposed driver is feasible for use in energy-efficient indoor lighting applications.

  • This paper focuses on the Current-Voltage concurrent control method devoted to the multiple LED (light-emitting diode) string driver. Isolated DC to DC converter with cascaded chopping switch is proposed for smart lighting system such as light with sensor or back light unit of display, which need to control the current of parallel connected multiple LED stings and regulate DC voltage for micro controller for brightness control. The proposed circuit regulates the current of parallel connected multiple LED strings and additional DC voltage output simultaneously. To verify the performance, experimental results are presented based on the prototype board. 5V, 1A voltage mode electric load and two LED strings with different forward voltages are used for output loads. 23W output power is achieved and measured efficiency is in the range of 85%-87%

  • Recently, Illumination industry of LED module has been focused to industry technology for energy conservation of nation. The LED device is excellent to power efficiency due to semiconductor light source element. And the application to the lighting circuit technology can be designed to the sensitive lighting system for human sensitivity control. In this paper, as a process for analyzing the operating temperature of standardized electronic device including LED device has analyzed about fusing character with in designed micro fuse for electronic device protection from the over current. Using the de-rating technique, which is performed to micro fuse fusing test in the range of $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ thermostatic chamber. To the output data in each temperature zone, it is performed to first-order linear fitting. Additionally, applying the resistance temperature coefficient and statistical data for the reliable analysis has derived to the metal element resistance of micro fuse with temperature change of the thermostatic chamber. As a research result, The changed temperature effect of thermostatic chamber was confirmed regarding fusing time change.

  • High power light emitting diode(LEDs), a strong candidate for the next generation general illumination applications are of interest. With major advantages of power saving, increased life expectancy and faster response time over traditional incandescent bulb, the LEDs are rapidly taking over many applications such as LCD backlighting, traffic light, automotive lighting, signage, etc. The increased electrical currents used to drive the LEDs have focused more attention on the thermal management because the efficiency and reliability of the solid-state lighting devices strongly depend on successful thermal management. There exist some problems that are caused by heat generation in the LED package, such as wire breakage, yellowing of epoxy resin, lifted chip caused by reflow of thermal paste chip attach and interfacial separation between LED package and silicon resin. The goal of this study is to analyze high power LED thermal properties of using pulsating heat pipe.

  • Graphene films have a strong potential to replace indium tin oxide anodes in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), to date. However, the luminous efficiency of OLEDs with graphene anodes has been limited by a lack of efficient methods to improve the low work function and reduce the sheet resistance of graphene films to the levels required for electrodes. Here, we fabricate flexible OLEDs by modifying the graphene anode to have a high work function and low sheet resistance, and thus achieve extremely high luminous power efficiencies (37.2 lm/W in fluorescent OLEDs, 102.7 lm/W in phosphorescent OLEDs), which are significantly higher than those of optimized devices with an indium tin oxide anode (24.1 lm/W in fluorescent OLEDs, 85.6 lm/W in phosphorescent OLEDs). We also fabricate flexible white OLED lighting devices using the graphene anode. These results demonstrate the great potential of graphene anodes for use in a wide variety of high-performance flexible organic optoelectronics.

  • In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mechanism is the worst environmental problem. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe mixing gas lamp improvements firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose and subject of this study are understand, efficiency, ideal of Ne:Xe plasma which mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by Langmuir probe data. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe.

  • If a fluorescent lamp be used too much time, the filmy part of electronic emission in the lane that is attached near the tube of the cathode brings about blacking. Luminance output and luminous efficiency are decreased. So, it's necessary to replace it. if the user doesn't replace the lamp for a long time, it causes overvoltage in the lamp. Therefore, the filament might be overheated. Even the socket of the lamp might catch on fire. In this paper gives development model of the fluorescent lighting equipment which has ramp shift timely display device.

  • Concerning Korean energy consumption, 20% of the total electrical energy (96% is now exported) is consumed in lighting area. Accordingly, it is one of the most important governmental policies to efficiently utilize electricity due to development and application of high-efficiency lighting equipment. In Korea, widely-built traffic signals employ an incandescent and are of 100W/300 mm, and 280,080set/801,932lamps have been installed and operated by 1999. Of them, 58%(161,181set), 25%(69,655set) and 18%(49,244set) correspond to traffic signals, pedestrian signals and other supplementary signals respectively. It was estimated that electrical energy consumed 28MW instantaneously, 245GWH annually. On the other hand, the LED traffic signal is expected to be a future traffic signal since if traffic signals are replaced by LEDs, energy saving effect of 85% and drop of 75% in maintenance fee will be obtained. In this paper, the performance and characteristics of many LED traffic signals made in Korea are summarized in order to reform Korean standard of LED traffic signals.
