  • This study conducted a secondary analysis by using original data of performed by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs to know factors affecting determinants of health using Lalonde model for the adults aged over 19 years living in Korea. The survey was conducted in 2009 and it evaluated finally 5,867 cases by excluding cases with no answer or a wrong answer. This study model adopted two categories of instrument measure health were objective (Average remaining lifetime) and subjective(EQ-5D) health status. The health determinants included in this study could be divided in to four categories, which were human biology, environment, lifestyle, and health care organization. The results were as follows. In the factors affecting average remaining lifetime, human biology were sex, ages, BMI, showed statistically significant difference, environment category were merry status, education showed statistically significant difference, lifestyle category were exercise, drunks showed statistically significant difference and health care organization category were vaccination, health screening showed statistically significant difference. In the factors affecting EQ-5D, human biology category and health care organization category showed with same average remaining lifetime, environment category were merry status, education, income showed statistically significant difference and lifestyle category were exercise, drunks, stress showed statistically significant difference. The results demonstrated that the best powerful factor was life style category and environment category, the least factor was health care organization category. So lifestyle style and environment category should be considered for the future health plan, budget allocation and the priority in the health care.

  • Objectives: Stillbirth is a common adverse pregnancy outcome that represents a distressing and traumatic event for women and their partners. The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with stillbirth in ever-pregnant women in Nepal. Methods: This study utilized the individual women's dataset from the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey, conducted in 2016. The dependent variable of interest was whether women had at least 1 stillbirth during their lifetime. The associations between independent variables and the dependent variable of the study were analyzed using a multiple logistic regression model. Results: Among 8918 ever-pregnant women aged 15-49 years, 488 had experienced at least 1 stillbirth during their lifetime, representing 5.5% of the total. After adjusting each factor for the confounding effects of other factors, maternal age, maternal education, place of residence, and sub-region remained significantly associated with having experienced stillbirth. Conclusions: Stillbirth continues to be a major problem among women, especially those with higher maternal age, those who are illiterate, and residents of certain geographical regions. To minimize stillbirth in Nepal, plans and policies should be focused on women with low education levels and residents of rural areas, especially in the western mountain and far-western hill regions.

  • This paper proposes a hierarchical routing algorithm for enhancing survivability of sensor nodes on WSAN. Proposed algorithm has two important parts. The first is a clustering algorithm that uses distance between sensor and actor, and remaining energy of sensor nodes for selecting cluster head. It will induce uniform energy consumption, and this has a beneficial effect on network lifetime. The second is an enhanced routing algorithm that uses the shortest path tree. The energy efficient routing is very important in WSAN which has energy limitation. As a result, proposed algorithm extends network and nodes lifetime through consuming energy efficiently. Simulation results show that the proposed clustering algorithm outperforms conventional routing algorithms such as VDSPT in terms of node and network life time, delay, fairness, and data transmission ratio to BS.

  • Exponential distribution plays a key role in engineering reliability and its applications. The exponential failure model has been studied for years. This article introduces two new preliminary test estimators for the reliability function (R(t)) in complete and censored samples from the exponential model with the use of a prior estimation (${\theta}_0$) of the mean (${\theta}$). The proposed preliminary test estimators are studied and compared numerically with the existing estimators. Computer-intensive calculations for bias and relative efficiency show that for, different values of levels of significance and for varying constants involved in the proposed estimators, the proposed estimators are far better than classical and existing estimators.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning tendency of rural residents participating in lifelong education. The analysis data were analyzed using a polynomial model for 3,685 people using raw materials from a lifetime education survey. According to the analysis, participants in rural residents prefer small study groups. They were also approached on a practical level, such as life-help or self-realization. And the participating education programs were highly involved in vocational non-formal education. Based on the workings of personal backgrounds, participation of people with lower income and lower educational backgrounds is more active than in urban areas. In addition, the effect of improving the quality of life through lifelong education was shown in the order of big cities, small cities, rural areas. These results suggest that ways to improve the quality of life through lifelong education are not suitable as a means to maintain rural population.

  • This study investigated the center of mass and lower extremity kinematic patterns between carved and basic paralell turn during alpine skiing. Six experienced skiers (age: $20.67{\pm}4.72yrs$, body mass: $72.67{\pm}7.15kg$, height: $171.00{\pm}5.51cm$) participated in this study. Each skier were asked to perform carved and basic paralell turn on a $22.95^{\circ}$ groomed slope. Each turn was divided into the initiation phase, steering phase 1 and 2. The results of this study show that the carved turn spent significantly less running time than basic paralell turn at all three phases (p<.05). Also vertical displacement of the center of mass was significantly greater in carved turn at all three phases, whereas inward leaning angle of the center of mass was significantly greater in carved turn at the steering phase 1 and 2 (p<.05). Bilateral knee and hip joint angle were significantly greater in basic paralell turn at the initiation phase and the steering phase 2 (p<.05). On the other hand, left knee and hip joint angle were significantly greater in basic paralell turn at the steering phase 1 (p<.05). In order to perform successful carved turn, we suggest that skiers should coordinate bilateral knee and hip joint angles to adjust the center of mass, depending on three ski turn phases.

  • Among disease prevention methods, health education is an excellent and effective method low cost. However, enforcing health education has the following limitations: there is little health education for the supported, health education disregards the characteristics of those educated, education materials are not specified and published satistactorily, and so on. This study suggests systemic health education planning to the Korea Medical Insurance Corporation. The special methods are as follows: 1. Health education for primary prevention a. We educate the insured who are judged to be normal by the results of health screening, dividing them into three groups:completely healthy status, emotionally disturbed status, and early pathologic status. b. We educate the insured characteristically according to occupational disease. c. In an advanced sense, we educate the insured according to their health condition and occupational status. 2. Health education for secondary and tertiary prevention We educate the insured who are judged to be inn a risk group or to be disease group according to the results of health screening. a. Health education for the risk group By health education on elimination of the risk factors, the risk group can be prevented from the disease. b. Health education for the disease group By health education on the therapeutic process and the method of rehabilitation, the disease group can return to the previous state. We conclude that: 1). Reimbursement for preventive activities{health interview, health education) must be realized. 2) A special organization for health education must be established. 3) All of the insured must be educated and managed during their lifetime by a new special organization.

  • Purpose: This study was done to compare health risk behavior prevalence for youth living in metropolitan, medium sized and small cities or rural area, in order to enhance understanding regional differences. Methods: For this study, data from the 2006 Youth Health Risk Behavior Online Survey collected by the Korean Center for Disease Control were analyzed using SPSS. Results: In the metropolitan areas, prevalence for disease and perceived obesity were higher than in other areas. Lack of intense or moderate physical activity, obesity, fast food intake, and insufficient sleep showed higher prevalence than in rural areas. Prevalence of lifetime smoking, lifetime alcohol consumption, present alcohol use, fruit intake less than once a day, and not wearing a seat belt were higher in rural areas than in urban areas. Gender, smoking, and alcohol use were correlated. Spearman correlation between living with parent and skipping breakfast were significant. Smoking, alcohol use, and sexual behavior were correlated. Conclusion: As significant differences in prevalence of youth health risk behaviors exist between regional areas, health education and health promotion programs considering these differences have to be developed and implemented for adolescents. Programs for prevention of smoking and alcohol use, programs for improvement of fruit intake and safety are suggested for adolescents in rural areas, whereas programs to enhance physical activity and obesity management are suggested for adolescents in metropolitan areas.
