Purpose: Many people recognize the fact that women are basically poor at financial and retirement planning. A small number of scholars have explored the factors and situations that influence the level of awareness of pre-retirement women and men with regards to planning for their retirement years. In most developing countries, including Malaysia, there are more men in the younger segment of the population and more women in the older segment, since women tend to live longer than men due to having jobs of relatively lower risk, their behaviors, and activities. Research design, data and methodology: Given that it is hard to predict whether they will be healthy in old age, women may require additional resources to obtain the care and assistance that they need. The transition from career life into retirement is a long process for people to go through. Some may be able to prepare for the next stage of life, and some may not be able to prepare due to personal reasons. Planning for future retirement is important because it will affect the quality of a woman's life after a certain age. Results: Without proper planning, women may face financial instability, depression, and poor psychological well-being. However, many women are unaware of their financial status or do not know their family's financial status, such as tracking the main income, budget, and expenses, financial commitments and have no proper record of assets owned, loans owed, or updated loan balances. Conclusions: The findings of this research have led to the conclusion that pre-retiree women are likely to regard their retirement savings as sufficient without realizing that they should have at least several types of savings instead of just one, and the grave consequences of not having any savings at all for their retirement years.

Purpose: This study was conducted to do preliminary report of differences and similarities between Koreans residing in Korea and Korean Americans residing in America regarding their awareness of end-of-life care, attitudes toward advance care planning, truth telling, and preferred decision-making model. Methods: Two participating groups were selected: a) Koreans residing in Korea, and b) Koreans Americans who had resided in the United States for at least 20 years. 25 Koreans and 23 Korean Americans who were older than 65 years old participated in this study. They were asked via a self-administered questionnaire that contained demographic questions and questions about end-of-life decision making regarding awareness of end-of-life care, attitudes toward advance care planning, truth telling, and preferred decision-making model. A Chi-square was used to measure differences between Koreans' and Korean Americans planning. A P value of less than 0.5 was considered significant. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0. Results: In some aspects of awareness of end of life care, attitudes toward advance care planning, and truth telling, both groups had similar opinions. However, there were significant differences between groups in the necessity of end of life documentation, preferential informing the truth, and preferred decision making model. Long-life housing should be durable enough to maintain structural safety even after long-term use by applying a durable structural system. Also, the residence space can be repaired according to the life cycle of the resident, and the space can be easily changed. The purpose of this study is to propose a plan which can increase the variability of unit space of long - lived houses in terms of architectural planning. We propose a new plan that can embody flexibility and ease of repair through the design of long life.
GIS is a powerful toolbox in managing spatial data associated with attribute data. However GIS is short of spatial analysis function and graphic user interface(GUI) function in dealing with dynamic planning problems. Decision Support Systems(DSS) make up for the shortage of GIS by providing GUI function, modeling function and database function. Spatial Decision Support Systems(SDSS), a new kind of DSS, incorporate display function, basic spatial analysis function and manipulation function of spatial data and attribute data of GIS and GUI function, modeling function and database function of DSS in dealing with spatial planning problems. Planning Support Systems(PSS) add more advanced spatial analysis function and intertemporal function to the functions of SDSS. This study focuses on the modeling of a PSS for capacity expansion of water-distribution network depending upon land use planning by using GIS, value engineering(VE) and life cycle costing(LCC). The PSS shows a guideline about the investment of water-distribution networks related to urban growth management through generating certain numbers of dynamic alternatives to supply the amount of water caused by land use planning.
In recent year, construction of national infrastructure, variations of agricultural environment, urbanization of rural life-style, and other things have influenced on rural area. Therefore, its landscapes have been changed rapidly. As a result of it, rural landscape should be controlled with amenity and totality. That is a rural amenity control planning. The purposes of this study is to consider characters of rural settlement area, the directions of landscape control planning as an environmental planning, the structure of rural landscape, the process of rural landscape control planning, and its frameworks. Main viewpoints of landscape control planning in rural settlement are as follows; the using of regional resources, the harmony of surrounding environments, the harmony of natural ecology, locating of facilities, the development of new landscape material, maintenance of sequencing, symbolizing, unificating, and opening, the using of natural/regional materials, the using of waterfront, the making of stories.
This paper is intended to deduce the planning elements of Eco-village through theory contemplation and preceding researches in order to be used as practical data of resident participating Eco-village by contemplating characteristics demonstrated in planning element utilization methods within the village. Resident participating Eco-village aims for residents who will reside in the relevant village to participate from village plans to construction. Unlike other Eco-village, residents of resident participating Eco-village make decisions autonomically through planning direction, planning elements, discussions and meetings, which are uniquely distinctive from other Eco-villages. It appears, however, that analysis on the planning element utilization methods of resident participating Eco-village is inadequate. There are various methods of village resident participation, and the methods cannot rule out the close relationship with planning elements. Hence, programs for resident participation should be devised at the time of village planning. Resident participating Eco-village should suggest measures and guidelines through finding problems in order to implement sustainable and environment-friendly life that prevent a retrograde step.
Development of transportation and communication technology has affected our daily life and has caused to separate residential places from working places. Particularly in rural areas, the life zones are incorporated into larger towns or urban areas due to their lack of cultural, social and economic infrastructures. Thus, the analysis of the depended region and the life zone is important for the planning of regional revitalization programs and related project. The purpose of this study is to propose a regional dependency model (RDM) using the origin-destination(O-D) matrix of commuters and compare it with the Nystuen & Dacey model for regional correlation. The regional characteristics are analysed and our RDM were tested using the commuting data on Seoul metropolitan area(Seoul, Gyeong-gi, Incheon) and Chungchung area. The regional correlation model can only explain the determination of regional interaction without considering the direction of regional correlation but our model can show the direction of regional dependencies.
