  • In this study, the effect of fear of COVID-19 on children's ability in life competency was examined, and the mediating effect of smartphone dependence on this relationship was also verified. For this study, 250 children living in area K who were using smartphones were surveyed as research subjects. The major research results found that the higher the fear of COVID-19, the lower the child's ability in life competency, which affects the child's ability in life competency. And the fear of COVID-19 has been shown to affect smartphone dependence. In addition, It was found that dependence on smartphones had a fully mediating effect on the relationship between children's fear of COVID-19 and their ability in life competency. Based on these research results, to promote the healthy growth and development of children in social disaster crises such as COVID-19, a convergence intervention and pro-active strategy that can control children's smartphone dependence and improve their life's ability in life competency was presented.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of peripheral neuropathy symptoms, self-care ability, and disturbances to daily life on quality of life (QoL) among gynecological cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: The participants included 144 patients with gynecological cancer undergoing anticancer chemotherapy at a tertiary hospital in Seoul, South Korea, from December 1, 2021 to January 28, 2022. Convenience sampling was used to recruit patients who had received 4 or more cycles of chemotherapy using a paclitaxel-platinum regimen, and a self-reported questionnaire was used to collect data. Descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: Most of the participants had ovarian cancer (70.1%) or endometrial cancer (14.6%), and the most common number of treatment cycles was 6 to 10 (29.2%). The mean QoL (60.83±19.89) was greater than the midpoint. The regression model analyzing the patients' QoL was statistically significant (F=15.38, p<.001) with an explanatory power of 56.7%. Self-care ability (β=.39, p<.001), disturbances to daily life (β=-.38, p<.001), the duration of peripheral neuropathy symptoms (β=2.14, p=.034), and regular exercise (β=-2.12, p=.036) were found to significantly affect QoL. Conclusion: Efforts to improve the self-care ability of gynecological cancer patients who have experienced peripheral neuropathy after receiving chemotherapy and mitigate disturbances to their daily life can improve their QoL. Healthcare professionals should identify peripheral neuropathy symptoms and examine the effects of the symptoms on patients' daily lives. Improving the self-care ability of patients and alleviating their limitations in daily life may improve QoL.

Methods : 23 stroke patients receiving treatments at rehabilitation specializing hospital after getting diagnosed with a stroke, along with 23 guardians were selected as research subjects, and health belief was measured by modifying supplementing Byun Young-Hee(2002)'s health belief measurement tool for leg movement disorder patients. Research findings revealed the following relationship between health beliefs of stroke patients and their guardians, and patients' rehabilitation performance and daily life movement fulfillment ability. Results : The patients group's initial MBI score was $33.13{\pm}3.46$, and measurement after four weeks was $38.43{\pm}3.47$. As health beliefs got stronger, MBI score increased significantly(p<.05). Correlation analyses of factors that affect rehabilitation attendance rate showed that perceived susceptibility, seriousness and usefulness were statistically significant, and perceived disability was not statistically significant(p<.05). Guardians' health belief index(susceptibility, seriousness, usefulness, disability) had no correlation with rehabilitation attendance rate. • The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of lifelong educators' core competencies as a mediating effect on adult learners' ability to function. The subject of this study was aimed at adult learners participating in lifelong education programs at lifelong educational institutions located in Gyeonggi Province. and was finally used for a total of 520 additional analyses. The main findings of this study are as follows: first, regarding the correlation between the core competence of lifelong educators and the life ability of adult learners, core competence has a static association with wisdom. In addition, wisdom has a high static association with life expectancy. Second, the core competence and wisdom of lifelong educators were found to have a significant static impact on adult learners' life abilities, accounting for 66.8%. Specifically, the most significant predictors of life's ability were creative problem solving, consideration for others, and acceptance of change, which were lower factors of wisdom. Third, the impact of a lifetime educator's core competence on adult learners is not significant. It was found that core competence has an indirect influence on life capacity through the mediating effect of wisdom, and that wisdom has directly interfaced the relationship between core competence and life ability. Taken together, these results proved that the core competence and wisdom of a lifelong educator are important variables for adult learner's life abilities. Based on this, the core competence of lifelong educators being taught in the field of lifelong education should be enhanced, and the ability of adult learners to utilize the wisdom that has been developed through the experiences of adult learners, to improve their life skills.

  • This study was performed to investigate the mean life expectancy of dental prosthetic restorations. The author has examined 352 dental prosthesis clinically and radiologically, and decided the success(survival) and failure(mortality) of the dental prosthesis. The dental prosthesis which had been treated in the Seoul National University Dental Hospital, two private clinics in Seoul, one university dental hospital, and two private clinics in local province were included in this study. The survival analysis using product limit estimator was used and the mean life expectancy of each type of dental prosthesis was calculated. The results were as follows : 1. The life expectancies were 10.5 years in gold crown and bridge, 8.5 years in porcelain fused to metal crown and bridge, 8.3 years in nonprecious metal crown and bridge, 8.1 years in removal partial denture, and 7.7 years in full denture. 2. The causes of mortality were in the order of dental caries(24.6%), fracture of dental prosthesis(19.2%), periodontal problems(18.6%), chronic chewing difficulty and dysfunction due to dental prosthesis(15.0%), excessive exposure of abutments due to the marginal defect of dental prosthesis(14.4%), abnormal occlusion due to severe attrition of artificial teeth in dentures(3.0%), periapical problems(2.4%), perforation of dental prosthesis(1.8%), and loose contacts with neighboring tooth(1.2%). 3. Among survival cases, 66.5% showed normal chewing ability and 31.9% showed partial chewing ability. However, 1.6% of them complained loss of chewing ability. 4. Among failure cases, 6.6% showed normal chewing ability and 38.9% showed partial chewing ability. However, 54.5% of them complained loss of chewing ability.

They had differences in life stress according to the grade(p<.01). Their smartphone addiction tendencies increased according to higher percentage of a smartphone(β=.360, p<.001), longer hours of using a smartphone(β=.225, p<.001), and greater life stress(β=.297, p<.001). The higher their smartphone addiction tendencies were, the lower their self-esteem was(β=.-210, p<.001). Conclusions: The study provides data needed for dental hygiene students to recognize the problems of smartphone addiction, find improvement measures, and make effective use of a smartphone.
