국제연합 전문기구의 정보원과 이용에 관한 연구 (Information Sources and Use of the UN Specialized Agencies)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 국제기구 연구의 기초가 될 주요 정보원과 정보서비스의 특징을 분석하여 국제기구 정보원에 대한 접근 및 이용의 효율성을 증진시키는데 있다. 경제, 환경, 문화, 교육, 보건 및 관련 분야의 국제협력을 도모하고 있는 16개 국제연합 전문기구를 대상으로 각 기구의 목적과 기능을 개관하고, 웹상에서 확인할 수 있는 각 기구의 문서 및 출판물의 종류와 주제별 특성, 도서관 정보서비스 그리고 그 정보원의 식별과 접근을 도와주는 도구 및 시스템들을 살펴보았으며 효율적인 전문기구 정보서비스를 제공하기 위한 방안들을 논의하였다.

예비사서교사의 교육실습 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Teacher Librarians' Teaching Practice Program in Korea)

  • 교육실습은 사서교사로서의 전문성을 신장하기 위한 주요 교육과정이다. 이 연구는 예비사서교사의 교육실습이 효과적으로 전개될 수 있도록 체계적인 교육실습 프로그램을 제안하기 위한 목적을 지니고 있다. 이를 위해 한국교육과정평가원의 사서교사 전문성 기준을 바탕으로 교육실습의 내용요소를 추출하고, 학교도서관에서 교육실습을 이수한 사서교사를 대상으로 추출된 32개 실습내용에 대한 중요도를 조사하였다. 실습내용 선정기준으로 사서교사 전문성의 균형 유지, 실무적 역량 강조, 교육실습의 일반과정과 절차의 적합성, 실제 실습 가능성을 설정하고, 설문조사 결과를 반영하여 13개 실습내용과 28개 요소를 선정하였다. 이상의 과정을 거쳐 이 연구에서는 실습목표, 지도방법, 교육자료, 지도상의 유의점으로 구성된 예비사서교사의 교육실습 프로그램을 제안하였다.

  • This study has two aims. one is to devide the ideology of reference service into three groups such as conservative, moderative, and progressive theories, and then investigate the validity of each theory as well as any problems to be suggested. The other is to establish appropriate standards of reference service according to the types of libraries and users, based on the analysis of such theories. Each theory has its own merits and demerits. Accordingly, it seems to be difficult to apply uniformly and theory into users who have different types of question and educational levels. And also it is difficult to apply into various libraries which have different aims of establishment, characteristics, and the users of each library. Consequently, it is suggested to set up a norm of reference service according to the types of libraries and users respectively. The conservative theory is applicable to small and medium sized public libraries, school libraries, and college and university libraries of which the users are mainly students and citizens. The progressive theory is desirable for special and academic libraries as well as large public libraries where the users are mainly specialists. and scholars.

공공도서관의 장서 폐기 실태 및 개선 방안 (A Study on Current Status and Improving Method of Collections Disposal in Public Libraries)

  • 서울특별시 자치구의 공공도서관 확충은 2004년 4개관에서 2009년 15개관으로 해를 거듭 할수록 지속적인 증가 추세를 보여주고 있다. 이와 반대로 신규로 확충되는 구립 공공도서관의 규모는 점차적으로 작아지는 경향을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 현상으로 구립 공공도서관들은 개관 후 수년이 지나면 증가하는 장서 규모를 수용하지 못하고 서가 공간 부족으로 인해 장서를 폐기하는 새로운 행태를 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 서울특별시 자치구에서 운영하고 있는 공공도서관의 장서 폐기 실태 조사를 통하여 장서 폐기 기준과 현황, 처리 방안을 기반으로 장서 폐기에 대한 개선 방안을 제언하였다.

국가 통계표준 메타데이터 설계에 관한 연구 (Construction of the Guidelines for National Statistical Metadata)

  • 본 연구에서는 인터넷 상에서 국가 통계 데이터의 자유로운 활용과 공개를 위해 필요한 메타데이터 표준안을 제안하였다. 설계는 우리나라 통계조사보고서와 통계청 내부 확장 메타데이터 기준을 기반으로 국제기준에서 요구하는 최소한의 메타데이터 세트가 포함되도록 하였다. 그 결과, SDMX와 SDDS의 중복요소에서 29개의 항목을 채택하고, 더블린 코어에서 14개의 항목을 채택하여 최종적으로 43개로 이루어진 국가 통계표준 메타데이터를 완성하였다.

IT 서비스 관리에서 신뢰성, 보전성 및 가용성 척도 (Measures of Reliability, Maintainability and Availability in Information Technology Service Management)

  • This paper proposes various measures of reliability, maintainability and availability in information technology service management(ISTM). Global ITSM standards such as ITIL(IT Infrastructure Library) and ISO/IEC 20000 are introduced. Especially availability management of De-facto and De-juire standards is concerned with users and customers of IT service. The study presents seven reliability measures, six maintainability measures and two availability measures. These results can be effectively used with a appropriate IT availability management tools such as CFIA(Component Failure Impact Analysis) and SOA(Service Outage Analysis), etc.

Information Literacy in Indian Schools: Trends and Developments

  • Information Literacy (IL) is considered as an important aspect of everybody's life. In today's information society possessing IL skills is more significant than ever as information is available in many forms and formats. Schools are the primary places where these skills are imbibed in students. Organizations like UNESCO, IFLA, ALA, AASL, & ACRL have formulated IL Standards and Guidelines/Models at the international arena. Though the Government of India is making efforts in providing information literacy skills yet there are no set of standards/guidelines devised by any agency/organization at the school level. This paper gives a brief account of IL initiatives and highlights the trends and developments of IL programmes in Indian School Libraries. It recommends the nation to form a national level advisory committee to develop IL framework for Indian school Libraries. Further, it suggests that librarians should work in close collaboration with teachers for better results. A moderate attempt has been made to provide feasible solutions for effective implementation of IL programmes in school libraries.

학교도서관 정보공시 실태 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Information Disclosure in School Libraries)

  • 본 연구는 초 중등학교의 학교도서관 관련 학교정보공시 실태를 분석하고 문제점을 파악하여 개선방안을 제안하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 미국의 학교성과보고서에서 도서관/미디어센터에 대한 정보공개 사례를 살펴보았고 우리나라의 학교정보공시제도 의미와 내용을 정리하였다. 그리고 학교도서관 관련 13개 공시범위를 대상으로 정보공시 실태와 문제점을 파악하고 비교를 통해 개선점을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 교육주체들에게 학교정보공시를 통해 학교도서관 현황과 가치를 종합적으로 이해하기 쉽게 알리는 데는 공시양식 및 지침서와 학교알리미 서비스 수준이 미흡한 것으로 분석되었다. 이를 토대로, 학교도서관의 공시내용 추가, 공시정보의 가독성 및 활용성, 이용자 편리성, 공시업무 효율성 등에 초점을 두고 몇 가지의 개선방안을 제안하였다.

Testing the Andrews Framework of Strategy Formulation and Implementation: Case Study of the University of Cape Coast Digital Library in Ghana

  • This paper investigates how strategy formulation and implementation processes used by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in building its digital collections compare with the Andrew's strategic formulation and implementation theoretical framework. Theory-testing case study methodology was used. The data collection instruments were the key informant interview technique and document reviews. During the formulation phase, two aspects (resources and aspirations of senior management) were emergent. During the implementation phase, five aspects (achieving results, processes and behaviour, standards, motivation, personal) were emergent. All other elements of building the UCC digital collections were planned during both the formulation and implementation phases. Although the emphasis on students and learning is laudable and apt, there seems to be lack of focus on research support beyond digital collection building, despite the fact that research excellence is one of the UCC's key priorities. Opportunities exist for improving feedback mechanisms between the users, digital library staff and the university management; and inclusion of social media tools in the digital library project. Since only the experience of a single institution of higher learning is considered, it cannot be definitively stated that strategy formulation and implementation will be similar in every institutional context. However, the results provide a basis for academic digital libraries to draw lessons from this case. In African public universities, there is little earlier research on strategy formulation and implementation in digital library management. Strategy formulation and implementation is a critical issue for higher education academic libraries especially in developing countries like Ghana, due to limited financial resources and the rapid change in the information environment during the last several decades.

사서교사의 역할에 대한 인식연구 (A Study of the Roles of the Teacher-Librarians as Perceived by Supervisors, Principals, Teachers and Teacher-Librarians in Korea)

  • The school library plays very important and central role for the fullfillment of educational objective in the process of implementing the school curriculum. And the media specialist known as teacher-librarian is. primarily responsible for the successful operation and effective management of the media center. It is true that effectiveness of the school library depends greatly on the cooperative coordination among teacher-librarian, teacher and principal in addition to the strong support and effective supervision of school district authority, specifically, supervisor of school library program. The successful program therefore is influenced by their perception of the teacher-librarian's role. The purpose of this study was to investigate the teacher-librarian's. educational role perceived by teacher-librarian, teacher, principal and school district supervisor. A standard task model describing both the management and educational functions and expectations of teacher-librarian was proposed after studying the relevant current standards of four countries. Serveral hypotheses were made regarding role perception and a survey instrument was designed based on this proposed task model and the results of the literature review to validate the hypotheses. The questionnaires were mailed out and the returned questionaires were analyzed by SPSS computer routine. The major findings are summarized as follows: 1) There was difference of the role perception among teacher-librarian, teacher, principal and district supervisor at the significance level of p<0.001 for both management and educational functions of teacher­librarian. The mean score of the teacher-librarian was highest among four groups and the score for the educational function tasks were lower than that of management function tasks. 2) The positive correlation exists at the significance level of p<0.001 between the role perception and the attitude toward changing social trends such as acceptance of new technology, need for better communication and information. 3) The positive correlation exists at the significance level of p<0.001 between the role perception and the view on the curriculum and teaching method.
