  • The purpose of this study is to explore the evaluation of transfer and elicit the implications regarding the improvement of educational curriculum, educational method, and educational environment. In order to do this, concepts of the transfer and related theories were explored. In terms of data collection method, the researchers conducted survey and semi-structured interview with 30 graduates who majored in Mechanical engineering by using the transfer tool developed by No and Park (2011). According to the result of the survey, a high average (4.27) between major subjects and one's current jobs was revealed. In addition to this, the participants' opportunity to apply what they learned from the college to transfer to their current job setting scored average of 4.10 and this score implies fairly high application of the transfer. In terms of the participants' extent to remember the liberal arts subjects, it scored average 2.90 which was fairly low. According to the survey about the curriculum, whether the major subjects as well as the liberal arts subjects were necessary for the transfer, the participants showed average score of 3.90. Concerning the item of whether the participants received lectures including practical problems, cases, or experiences in order to increase the transfer, the participants showed 2.63 which was fairly low. The followings are the results of the interview. First, regarding majors in educational curriculum, it was shown that educational curriculum were directly applied to the transfer. Especially, it was shown that involvement in the major-related activities and team projects played a positive role, thus, the involvement in such activities should be enforced. • Recently, new teaching methods for communicating with teachers and students have been emerged according to the trends of decreasing the school-age population and the development of the mass media. We have applied teaching-learning model based on the flip learning to the college students in this work. As a result of the test for the customized flipped learning teaching-learning model in pre-class, the attendance rate of the major subject was 92.3% whereas that in liberal arts courses other than majors revealed 87.6%. This result for attendance rate shows that first year students in the radiology department have been actively participated in pre-class of the major subject than that of the liberal arts curriculum. From comparing the differences between the study group that was applied flipped learning in class and the non-applied group, the research group showed higher scores in knowledge, skills, and attitudes than the comparative group. In addition, more than 90% of the learners improved their responsibility, problem solving ability, creative thinking, cooperative ability, and communication ability through this learning program. From the test for the difference in the role of radiologists in the post class, the mean score was 4.40 for the group applied the teaching-learning model while that for non-applied group was 2.10. Hence, from such results, we see that this teaching-learning model is appropriate and needs to be extended to cultivate basic skills in radiology and relevant vocational education.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the effect of mindfulness education on perceived stress, mindfulness, psychological well-being, and brain waves. The study used a repeated-measures design to examine 42 female university students currently enrolled in mindfulness courses. Subjects participated in the mindfulness course once a week for eight weeks, 50 minutes per session. The main outcome variables, such as perceived stress, mindfulness, and psychological well-being, were measured with a structured questionnaire and brain waves were measured with an electroencephalograph. The same variables were then measured after the completion of the eight-week course. The results demonstrate that perceived stress significantly decreased from 1.85±0.39 to 1.66±0.39 points (t=3.44, p=.001), while, on the other hand, mindfulness increased from 3.10±0.26 points to 3.19±0.32 points (t =-2.78, p=.008). There was also a significant difference in the level of autonomy, a subcategory of psychological well-being (t=-2.70, p=.010). In addition, EEG indicated significant changes in the frequencies of Theta channel 19 and Rapid Alpha channels 7 and 10. These results suggest that further studies are needed to elucidate the effects of mindfulness education through the modification of mindfulness course plans, diversification of teaching methods, and improvement in the educational environment.

  • This study aims to investigate teachers' perceptions of the composition of high school science elective courses ahead of the 2022 curriculum revision, and to derive implications for the organization of the 2022 revised science curriculum in preparation for the full implementation of the high school credit system. To this end, a survey was conducted by randomly sampling high schools across the country. A total of 192 science teachers responded to the questionnaire. In addition, 12 high school science teachers were selected as a focus group, and in-depth interviews were conducted to investigate opinions on the restructuring of elective courses in science. Main research results include 129 (67.2%) science teachers in the survey answered that the current 2015 curriculum's science and elective courses system should be maintained. In the next curriculum, when reconstructing science elective subjects, it is necessary to provide an opportunity to experience the entire contents of each science field through Science I·II system as before, and to ensure student choice in preparation for the credit system. In addition, the opinion that general elective subjects should be organized to include all the contents of science I and II subjects was the highest. Through in-depth interviews, science teachers emphasized that the current science I subject system allows access to the content areas of science as much as possible as the number of subjects is small, and that subjects, such as physics, where the hierarchy of concepts is important, should deal with important content within one subject rather than divided by area. On the other hand, in the current I subject system, there is no subject for liberal arts students to choose from, so teachers suggested that science electives should be organized by subdividing each content area. Based on the research results, the necessity of organizing high school science elective courses in consideration of the purpose of the high school credit system, ways to organize science-convergence elective courses as subjects for all students regardless of career aptitude, ways to organize science-career elective courses, and ways to organize science elective courses in connection with the college admission system were proposed.

  • In the era of global aging and the retirement of baby boomers, the response is very intensive and dynamic. As baby boomers actually retire, the terms for middle-aged people have been diversified into middle-aged, midle-elderly, and the new middle, which are also evident in the training process. In line with the timing, the government and academia are also making efforts to advance the development of training courses for middle-aged, along with organizing terms for middle-aged. From this point of view, this study aims to analyze the performance of the three-year training courses (2018-2020) for the new middle at Korea Polytechnics and suggest the direction of development of the new middle training course. As a result of the study, the three-year performance of the Shin middle-aged training course gradually increased, but the completion rate and employment rate gradually decreased, indicating that countermeasures were needed. In addition, campus performance in the metropolitan area was higher than that in the non-capital area, so a plan for this deviation was needed. In addition, the need for the integrated operation of the existing 'middle-aged' and 'the new middle' courses operated by Korea Polytechnics was suggested, and measures to specialize in the new middle-aged were proposed.

  • Internet ethics is one of liberal arts courses in a college. We also have taught this subject for a number of years. In order to effectively communicate to students the internet ethics course, we gave some demonstration practice lectures by taking advantage of internet ethics related videos. Since the latest video presentation and its discussion were performed, it was helpful for students to recognize the internet ethical issues and concerns. However, simply video watching is short in the view of students' learning outcome improvement, since each student just watches the content passively in a class. Thus, we assign small student group consisting of 3 people make a video on internet ethics topic. This team project based class methodology is effective to each student who actively participates in the class and understands the concept which they directly make a video. We confirmed that classroom students' understanding for internet ethics has been increased by a survey of the class attendees.
