  • Objectives : The meridian system is a systematic complex of empirical knowledge, which functions as a basis of acupuncture treatment. In this article, we reviewed the visualization methods of meridian and acupuncture points through the investigation of the characteristics of Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, Bronze Statues and Diagram of Bronze Statue. Methods : We investigated the characteristics of Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, and Bronze Statues. We reviewed the visualization methods of meridian and acupuncture points in those classical Diagrams and analyzed their relationships among them. Results : In order to explain the meridian and acupuncture points easily, ancient people usually used drawings which are named Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, by their own characteristics. Owing to their limitations of drawings on the 2 dimensional plane, Chinese people designed the Bronze Statue for Acu-moxibustion and its first invention was invented in Tiansheng age of Song dynasty. For several decades and centuries, these models and drawings were inherited, also reflecting variations of meridian system. As the Bronze Statue has a deficiency in the educational use because of its limitations of mass production, Diagram of Bronze Statue drawn on the 2 dimensional plane was invented. At the beginning of Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, Diagram of Bronze Statue and Bronze Statue, their own characteristics were significantly differed with other diagrams and statues. We found that both diagrams and statues were gradually combined with description of the relationship between internal organs and the skeletal structure and the meridian system. Conclusions : Our findings suggest that Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, and Bronze Statues are the basic form of data visualization, one of the infographics. We suggest that ancient Chinese people intend to explain the empirical knowledge using the ancient infographics of meridian system, but have limitations on reflecting theorical or abstractional meaning.

  • Timing diagram is a useful tool for describing the specification of system, but there is no study for test case strategy of a timing diagram. To solve this problem, we followed the steps to generate test cases from timing diagram in this paper. 1) We defined a timing diagram formally. 2) We describe the method of transforming from a timing diagram model into a Stateflow model which has an equivalent relationship between a timing diagram model and a transformed Stateflow model. 3) We generated test cases from a transformed Stateflow model using SDV which is plugged in Simulink. To show that our approach is useful, we made an experiment with a surveillance model and arbitrary timing diagram models. In the experiment we transformed timing diagram models into Stateflow models, generated test cases from transformed Stateflow models using SDV, and analyzed the generation results. The conclusion that can be obtained from this study is that timing diagram is not only a specification tool but also a useful tool when users are trying to generate test cases based on model.

  • State diagrams describe the dynamic behavior of an individual object as a number of states and transitions between these states. In this paper, we propose an automated technique to the generation of a state diagram from class operations with pre/post conditions. And I also develop a supporting tool, SDAG (State Diagram Automatic Generation tool). Additionally, we propose a complexity metric and a state diagram generation approach concerning types of each operation for decreasing complexity of generated state diagram.

  • Class extraction of object or component based software development methodology is the major factor for software quality. Each method has the class definition and extraction method however there are some troubles when the beginners try. Especially, the conceptual gap results to make the class extraction hard. This research suggests three diagrams to support it. They are Information diagram, Behavio diagram and Management diagram. They specify which services a stakeholder wants, which information to support the service, which actions to solve the service and who has the responsibility for those. Any analysis process which takes class extraction can utilize these diagrams.

  • Timing diagram is popularly utilized for the reason of its advantages; it is convenient for timing diagram to describe behavior of system and it is simple for described behaviors to recognize it. Various techniques are needed to test systems described in timing diagram. One of them is a technique to derive the system into a certain condition under which a test case is effective. This paper proposes a technique to automatically generate the test input sequence to reach the condition for systems described in timing diagram. It requires a proper input set which satisfy transition condition restricted by input waveform and timing constraints to generate a test input sequence automatically. To solve the problem, this paper chooses an approach utilizing the linear programming, and solving procedure is as follows: 1) Get a Timing diagram model as an input, and transforms the timing diagram model into a linear programming problem. 2) Solve the linear programming problem using a linear programming tool. 3) Generate test input sequences of a timing diagram model from the solution of linear programming problem. This paper addresses the formal method to drive the linear programming model from a given timing diagram, shows the feasibility of our approach by prove it, and demonstrates the usability of our paper by showing that our implemented tool solves an example of a timing diagram model.

  • It has not been studied about modeling methods for SVG documents to represent animation in the web that has been recently increased in interest. In this paper, I propose component modeling for SVG documents by CBD methodology. First, I propose conceptual modeling by UML class diagrams for converting SVG document into component diagram. And then, I propose rules to convert the UML class diagram into component diagram. Thus, main contribution of this paper is that it can generate a component diagram for a SVG document using Component-Based Development methodology.
