In many existing studies, the analyses on the application and effect of the project-based learning model (PBL), a student-centered teaching and learning strategy, have been emphasized and carried out in various majors and courses. This case study analyzes the effects of applying a project-based learning model to the engineering accounting course for engineering students in 2021 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, compared with the offline course in 2019 and the simple online course in 2020. Project team consisting of 2-3 students carried out online collaborative learning activities for solving open-ended problems through the 5-step PBL procedure including presenting the final result. Except for this online PBL application in 2021, textbooks, lecture contents, assignments, and tests were implemented the same for each semester for three years. Through lecture evaluation and survey by students, the online PBL application semester showed higher effects in inducing student-centered learning, lecture satisfaction, and student competency improvement compared to the non-applying semesters, further, it was evaluated that the online PBL application to the course and evaluation method were more appropriate than other semesters. It is expected that the online PBL method and operation procedure applied in this study can be utilized as a best practice for the design and operation of various online courses for student-centered collaborative learning activities and educational effects.

The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve the quality of real-time video lectures in a non-face-to-face environment using IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis). Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19 in universities, all remote classes are being implemented, so research is needed to raise learner awareness. Accordingly, factor analysis, mean analysis, correspondence analysis, and IPA analysis were performed based on the data of 632 students who responded from March 21 to June 30, 2021 for learners of K University in Chungbuk. First, overall satisfaction was low compared to importance, and the difference in system perception was the largest. Second, the difference in learner perception of real-time video lectures through the IPA matrix showed that the system error and screen cutoff were the largest. Third, the difficulty of lecture content, task and test feedback, etc. are classified. Accordingly, the satisfaction of real-time video lectures in non-face-to-face environments is low, suggesting that school-level support for quality improvement to improve learner satisfaction in non-face-to-face environments and the role of instructors are needed to improve learners' academic achievement.
This study examined the curriculum CQI forms implemented at A university for quality management and improvement of instruction. Under the reorganization of competency-based curriculum, University A has improved the CQI form so that the planning, process and outcomes of class can be managed systematically. This study proposes a CQI form through literature research and has undergone a revision process through external expert verification. The major findings are as follows. First, when developing the CQI form, the questions were composed to evaluate and reflux the entire course of the class, including the planning, operation, results, and feedback of the class. Second, it was divided into three stages such as last semester, current semester, and next semester to prepare a comprehensive analysis and improvement plan, so that the effect of continuous class improvement and reflux can be obtained. Third, integrating the lesson plans and lecture evaluation results in the preparation of CQI increased the convenience of instructors. Fourth, the objective results (achievement results for each evaluation tool, lecture evaluation results) were provided to the instructor so that they could sufficiently reflect on them. This study is significant in that it provides implications for future CQI development.

Objectives: This investigation was conducted to evaluate current education status of pharmacopuncture in Korean traditional medicine schools and suggest improvement in the structure of pharmacopuncture education. Methods: Among the eleven Korean traditional medicine schools in the country, six schools participated in the survey. 252 students in fifth and sixth year whom have finished pharmacopuncture studies completed were given questionnaire developed for the purpose and survey results were analyzed. Results : 1. For the question pertaining to the text used for the pharmacopuncture lecture, a significant difference was witnessed suggesting that few schools were not utilizing common textbooks. 2. For the item pertaining to the lecture progression, each school showed significant difference and student satisfaction rate differed vastly between schools. 3. Lecture hours and lecture materials were also significantly different between schools and overall satisfaction rate was low. 4. All of students participated in the survey had high expectation in the clinical applications of pharmacopuncture treatment. Conclusions: Above findings indicate that students at Korean traditional medicine schools throughout the nation have high expectation for pharmacopuncture, but lack of standardized education system and materials and qualified instructors calls for immediate modification in the education of pharmacopuncture studies.
The cyber lecture, which uses the computer system and its networking, has the benefit of learning anytime and anywhere and quick feedback with positive learning system. Now the research on the cyber lecture is actively performed. But most of researches focus on the problems of operational status of cyber colleges, example study and activation study. So there aren't many researches that reflect the requirements of students who are the main force of the learning system. This research asked 145 students from 20 colleges about the cyber lectures and analyzed their requirements. Then it applied then to the cyber lectures and studied its effect. <중략> It removed the factors of these complaints and established a way of improvement to apply it to a new cyber lecture. Then it found the total average for the learning achievement improved by 17.3. It showed high learning achievement. The result of the achievement shows that the teaching design is necessary with the viewpoint of the students as well as the viewpoint of the teachers.
This study aimed to design a robot programming lecture for pre-service mathematics teachers to improve their TPACK-P (TPACK-Programming) and analyze its effectiveness. The lecture design involved stages of analysis, exploration, primary micro-teaching, and secondary micro-teaching, with each stage including design, application, and evaluation. The TPACK-P survey was conducted before and after the lecture, and the results indicated a statistically significant difference in TCK at the 1% significance level and TPK, TRACK, and TRACK(P) at the 5% significance level. Further analysis using dependent sample t-tests showed that the post-test mean was significantly higher than the pre-test mean in categories such as TCK, TPK, TPACK, and TPACK(P). These findings suggest that the designed lecture positively affected the growth of pre-service mathematics teachers' TPACK-P.
The objective of this study was to evaluate Environmental microbiology (EM) as a basic course for the environmental engineering program of Korea Maritime University which has been accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK). Evaluation result of the lecture objectives was more than the average (3.5/5.0). The overall score for learning achievement assessment was more than average level of learning achievement (3.4/5.0). Interestingly, engineering design implementation regarding a specific topic as an extensive learning process has proven to be more effective (3.5/5.0). Some of effective class improvement strategies suggested were to encourage students to participate in the class with self-motivation and accountability: preview and review of the lecture, team presentation in English-speaking settings, and submitting project report written in English. In the future class of EM, test and evaluation of application capability of EM and environmental biotechnology (EB) theories to engineering problem solving should be emphasized.
Applying intuitive learning method on engineering education, especially for the mechanical engineering, is hardly found from the previous case studies and is not easily proved its beneficial verification. Verbal repetition is also rarely used to investigate its positive effects on educational methodology for both science and engineering disciplines. To prove the education effects of these two methods; we used intuitive thinking time period at the beginning of each lecture and let students repeat the concepts and the equations verbally. These two methods were related to the subjects of each lecture, and were used for students to try to draw engineering thinking from natural phenomena that they could easily experience in daily life. The methods could help them to memorize theoretical ideas. We investigated the effects of intuition and verbal repetition methods by comparing the scores of final exam with those of midterm exam. The results revealed significant improvement; 77.6% of the students achieved higher score in their final exam compared to midterm exam. We plan to investigate qualitative contributions of intuition and verbal repetition methods to the students' achievement for the further research.

In this paper, we propose a widerange array microphone for lecturer tracked with Frequency Modulated Continuous Waveform (FMCW) radar sensor. Time Difference-of-Arrival (TDoA) is often used as audio tracking, but the tracking accuracy is poor because the frequency of the voice is low and the relative frequency change is large. FMCW radar has a simple structure and is used to detect obstacles for vehicles, and the resolution can be archived to several centimeter. It is shown that the sensor is useful for detecting a speaker in open area such as a lecture, and we propose an wide range 4-element array microphone beamforming system. Through some experiments, the proposed system is able to adequately track the location and showed a 8.6dB improvement over the selection of the best microphone.
Introduction This study is concerned with improving the nursing education curriculum. The purpose of the study was to 1. Review the basic principles of curriculum development. 2. Determine opinion about current nursing curriculums from recent nursing school graduates. Methods of the study A questionnaire was distributed to 250 nurses, in f general hospitals in Seoul. The nurses were graduated from nursing schools in 1973, but represented all types of nursing programs. The Questionnaire was designed to illicit responses about nursing school curriculums in 5 areas: 1. Establishment of objectives 2. Selection of learning experience 3. Organization of learning experience 4. Instruction 5. Evaluation Summary of the major findings 1. Establishment of objectives Thirty nine point three percent of the nurses said that the first objective of the general nursing education was stated "to educate a nurse as a human being with humanity:" Ninety point eight percent of the total respondents said that thor knew the objectives of the curriculum of their nursing schools, but more half of them (58.3%) understood the objectives vaguely at the time they attended nursing school. 2. Selection of learning experience Thirty nine point eight percent of the respondents said their curriculum contained "only a few" liberal arts courses. 3. Organization of learning experience forty seven point six percent. of the respondents were reported that the number of course hours was "insufficient" in liberal arts courses. Fifty seven point three percent of the nurses felt there was an overemphasis on any special topic in liberal arts courses. 4. Instruction Methods of instruction were as follows: Liberal arts courses-a. lecture which centered on explanation (61.1%), b. lecture which centered on writing (43.7%) Supporting nursing courses-a. lecture which centered on explanation (34.0%). b. laboratory Practice (37.8%) Clinical nursing courses-a. lecture which centered on writing (33.0%), b. clinical practice (38.4%) The percentage of respondents replying that various equipment for the learning activities were "insufficient"were as follows: Liberal arts courses-51.0% Supporting nursing courses-28.6% Clinical nursing courses-37.9% 5. Evaluation In the liberal arts courses, 30.6% o( the respondents answered that the evaluation of records was in their opinion "poor, " and 28.2% of the respondents reported that the method of evaluation was "unfair and discouraging. " "Development of a systematic theory of nursing" was thought to be essential for curriculum improvement. The respondents felt that the junior year was the hardest because 1. Number of subjects was too great (28.1%) 2. Lack of a systematic theory of nursing (14.5%) 3. Conflict due to the difference between nursing theory and nursing practice (21.4%) Recommendations 1. Since this study was limited to nurses who had graduated in 1973, a larger study involving professors, graduate students, and nurses from a wider area is suggested in order to establish the reliability and validity of the present findings. 2. Nursing research should be carried out more actively in order to develope nursing science. 3. A permanent organization for research into ways to improve the curriculum should be established in each nursing school.
