기업 내 e-learning 학습 환경에서 학습양식, 튜터기능, 학습성취도의 상관관계 (Interrelation among Learning Style, Tutoring Function, and Learning Achievement in an Enterprise e-learning Environment)

  • It is believed that each learner has a preferred method to acquire and manage knowledge according to her/his learning style which influences learning achievement directly. The purpose of this paper is to statistically analyze relationships among individual learning styles, tutoring functions, and learning achievement in an e-learning environment. 524 survey results from participants of enterprise e-learning classes are classified into total group and superior group. T-Test and ANOVA analyses are carried between learning style and learning achievement and between learning style and preferred tutoring functions. The analysis results show that individual learning styles do not contribute to learning achievement while they are strongly related to preferences for some of tutoring functions. These results can be used to identify limitation of current e-learning practice and design better e-learning systems, especially, supporting appropriate tutoring functions for different types of learners.

A Study on the Relationship Between Teaching Style and Teaching Experiences of Professors in Higher Institutions

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the teaching styles of professors who teach adult students in selected higher institutions. It also identified whether professors' teaching styles were teacher-centered or learner-centered and examined the relationship between instructors' teaching styles and such instructor demographic variables as gender, years of teaching experience, and taught level of courses. This study used The Principles of Adult Learning Scale(PALS) (Conti,1983) to measure instructional preferences. Demographic characteristics were collected through a personal data inventory. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) tests were used to analyze the data. The data were examined for significance at the .05 level of confidence by means of analysis of variance. The dependent variables in this study were teaching styles of full-time professor, as represented by the seven subscores from the standardized instrument on the PALS. The seven subscores were: (1) learner-centered activities, (2) personalizing instruction, (3) relating to experience, (4) assessing student needs, (5) climate building, (6) participation in the learning process, and (7) flexibility for personal development. The study established that there was a significant difference in mean scores on the PALS between participants when examined by the number of years of teaching experiences.

인터넷 수업의 학습양식에서 학습자와 교수자의 인식 차이에 대한 비교 (Comparative Analyses between Students and Teachers' Perceptions on Learning Style in IBL(Internet Based Learning))

  • 본 논문은 사이버 학습체제의 확산으로 학교와 가정에서 인터넷 학습에 많은 시간을 할애하게 되는 초, 중등 학습자들이 인터넷 학습 시 어떤 유형의 학습양식을 선호하고 있으며, 이는 교수자들의 인식과 어떻게 다른지를 분석하여 이를 바탕으로 향후 인터넷 학습에서 고려할 시사점을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 본 논문은 전국의 초등학생 386명, 중학생 627명, 사이버 교사 130명을 대상으로 학생들과 교사들의 인식차이 분석을 하였다. t-검증 결과, 초등학생과 중학생들은 인터넷 학습 환경에서 자기주도적 학습양식을 선호하였고, 교사들도 학생들이 자기주도적 학습양식을 선호한다고 판단하였다 하지만 교사들의 관점은 학생들 스스로가 자신들을 자기주도적, 의존형이라고 인식하고 있는 것에 비해 더욱 많이 학생들을 자기주도적, 의존형이라고 판단함으로서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다 이는 향후 초, 중등 학습자들을 위한 인터넷 학습의 설계와 개발 전략 수립에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중요한 시사점을 제공한다. 결론으로 본 논문은 향후 초, 중등 인터넷 교육 콘텐츠에서 교수자와 학습자 양쪽의 학습양식에 대한 시각을 반영한 설계와 개발이 이루어져야 하며, 각 교과목별로도 특성화된 교수전략 및 학습전략을 수립하고, 사이버 교사들의 튜터링 전략에서도 차별화가 이루어져야함을 제안한다.

초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 학생의 수학 학습 양식과 유형 분석 (An Analysis on Math Learning Styles and Math Learning Types of 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Students)

  • It is important to concern about individual difference on every subject and every class. How can we know the individual difference? It is helpful for that to find out students' math learning style and learning type. In this paper, I conducted a survey to look for math learning style and math learning type of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students, and analyzed those data. The research findings are summarized as follows; First, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students prefer the visual learning style to the verbal style, and they have more wholistic tendency than analytical tendency in the domain of the cognitive learning style. Second, they prefer the authoritative and goal-oriented learning style to the practical and recreational learning style, and they have more interior-oriented than exterior-oriented in the domain of affective learning style. Third, the representative math learning type of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students is visual/holistic/authoritative and goal-oriented/interior-oriented. The math learning styles of students have a lot of influence on their learning, so that an appropriate teaching method for each student could arouse a maximum effect in the math study.

가족건강성과 부모의 학업기대유형에 따른 청소년 학습동기의 차이 (Difference in Adolescent's Academic Motivation by Family Strengths and Parent's Expectation Styles)

  • 본 연구는 가족건강성과 부모의 학업기대유형에 따른 청소년 학습동기의 차이에 대해 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 조사대상은 대구광역시에 소재하는 중학교의 2, 3학년 508명이고, 조사방법은 질문지를 사용하였다. 자료분석은 MANOVA, 그리고 사후검증법으로 Scheffe 검증을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 연구결과와 논의를 통해서 얻은 요약 및 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가족건강성에 따른 청소년의 내적학습동기와 외적학습동기에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 가족건강성이 높다고 지각한 청소년들이 중간 정도로 지각한 청소년들보다, 가족건강성을 중간 정도로 지각한 청소년들이 가족건강성을 낮게 지각한 청소년들보다 내적학습동기가 더 높게 나타났다. 또 가족건강성을 높게 지각하는 청소년들이 낮거나 중간 정도로 지각하는 청소년들보다 외적학습동기가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부모의 학업기대유형에 따른 청소년의 내적학습동기에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 부모의 학업기대유형을 부 지지 - 모 지지, 부 압박 - 모 지지, 부 지지 - 모 압박기대유형으로 지각하는 청소년들이 부 압박 - 모 압박기대유형으로 지각하는 청소년들에 비해 내적학습동기가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 외적학습동기에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 가족건강성과 부모의 학업기대유형에 따라 내적학습동기에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 구체적으로 살펴보면 가족건강성을 높게, 그리고 중간정도로 지각한 청소년 집단에 있어서는 부모의 학업기대유형에 따라 청소년의 내적학습동기에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았고, 가족건강성을 낮게 지각하는 청소년 집단에 있어서는 부모의 학업기대유형을 부 지지 - 모 지지, 부 압박 - 모 지지, 부 지지 - 모 압박기대유형으로 지각하는 청소년들이 부 압박 - 모 압박기대유형으로 지각하는 청소년들보다 내적학습동기가 더 높게 나타났다.

수학영재프로그램 적용을 통한 초등학교 3학년 영재학생들의 학습유형 변화 분석 (An Analysis on Change of Learning Styles of Third Grade Gifted Students by Applying the Gifted Mathematics Program)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수학영재프로그램이 초등학교 영재학생들의 학습유형에 미치는 영향을 조사함으로써 수학영재프로그램 구성을 위해 프로그램의 특성 및 다양성에 대한 함의점을 얻는 것이다. 구체적으로 영재교육을 처음 접하는 초등학교 3학년 학생 53명을 대상으로 총 9차시의 수학영재프로그램 적용 전 후에 있어 Kolb의 학습유형 검사지를 적용하고, 그 결과를 비교 분석함으로써 연구 대상의 학습유형 변화를 파악하였다. 변화 특징으로 주목할 것은 조절형과 동화형은 거의 변화가 없는 것에 반해 확산형은 증가했고 수렴형은 감소했다는 점이다. 또한, 전체 연구 대상의 구체적 경험(CE)의 평균이 유의미하게 높아졌음을 보였다. 이와 같은 분석 결과에 기초한 논의로부터 수학영재프로그램의 특성에 대한 교수학적 시사점을 제안하였다.

소규모 학급의 환경 체험 학습을 위한 학습 유형화와 그 교육 과정 (The Learning Styles and Curriculum for Environmental Experience-Based Learning in Classroom of the Small Scale)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance elementary students' awareness of environment-friendly life and help them to prepare for a better life in the future. To achieve this purpose we examined the effect typical environmental experience-based learning activities, which were based on the local circumstances with high environmental-educational potential, have on the attitudes toward environment-friendly life. This study was carried out on the basis of typical environmental experience-based learning in the small class size. The research group used was composed of one sixth grade elementary school class called Sangroksu, whose total students were 9. The research period lasted from March 2005 to February 2006. To analyze the result of this study, two research methods were applied simultaneously : quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods. Especially statistical analysis in quantitative research methods by self-administrated questionnaire was done with SAS program. Qualitative research methods were analyzed in a cyclic pattern, including the processes of domain analysis, classification analysis, and factor analysis which continued to be associated with data-collecting methods. This research shows the following results. First of all, students have shown meaningful differences after typical environmental experience-based learning activities.(p<.05). Followings are fields of the differences - students‘ interest on the subject, their understanding levels of necessity for basic environmental facilities around us as well as for the kinds of environmental experience-based learning, awareness levels of various environmental problems, consciousness on environment conservation, and the practicing ability of environment - friendly lifestyles. Secondly, We have discovered improvements in the following fields after this study - the knowledge and understanding levels on our environment and human relationships, students' fundamental abilities to work out environmental problems, right ideas and appropriate attitudes on environment protection, the practicing ability of environment-friendly life styles, and their parents' understanding levels on the education related to environment. In conclusion, typical environmental experience-based learning activities have a positive effect on the improvement of elementary school students' environment-friendly life styles.

초등 영재아의 학습스타일과 학습자 특성 간의 관계 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Learner Characteristics and Learning Style of Gifted Elementary School Students)

  • 본 연구는 설문지와 학습스타일 검사도구를 활용하여 학습상황 속에서 영재아의 선호하는 학습스타일이 어떻게 나타나는지 살펴보고, 학습자 특성에 따른 학습스타일과의 관계를 분석함으로써 학부모, 교사들에게 다양한 분야의 재능을 가진 영재들을 이해하여 영재아들이 잠재적 능력을 개발할 수 있도록 교수-학습 프로그램을 마련하고 구현하는데 시사점을 주고자 하였다. 영재학생이 선호하는 학습스타일이 있고, 다양한 학습자 변인과 선호하는 학습스타일 간에도 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 이는 학습자의 물리적, 심리적 환경이 학습스타일에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 영재학생들이 선호하는 학습스타일과 교사들이 자주 실시하는 교수스타일 간에도 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 영재 프로그램이 학습자에 맞게 세분화되고, 학습스타일 관련 학습자 특성을 파악하여 교육 현장에서부터 차별화되고 개별화된 교육과정이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

공과대학생의 팀워크 역량과 사고양식의 관계 (Relationships between Teamwork Skills and Thinking Styles in Engineering Students)

  • This research aims to explore the relationships between 'teamwork skills' (often called team activity competence) and 'thinking styles' of engineering students in Korea, and to provide an explanation for the application of team-based environment as well as for the increase of teamwork skills. Teams and team activity are pervasive in today's organization and there has been relatively much research on teamwork skills and its related factors. However, to date, little attention has been paid to the teamwork skills, essential factor in team-based environment and its relationships with thinking styles. This study was conducted with 383 engineering students at P University, and students' teamwork skills as well as thinking styles have been measured before and after team-based learning class (hereafter TBL). Our findings show that firstly, there was a significant increase of teamwork skills between before and after TBL class. Second, team activity competence was found to have a higher correlation with most of creativity generating styles (i.e. legislative, judicial, hierarchical and global styles). Third, hierarchical style was found to influence team activity more than other components, and also legislative, external, global and judicial styles contributed to team-based activity. These findings are expected to provide an explanation for the application of thinking styles in team-based environment and will be useful for the improvement of related courses in engineering school.

The Influence of Learning Styles on a Model of IoT-based Inclusive Education and Its Architecture

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new paradigm that is revolutionizing computing. It is intended that all objects around us will be connected to the network, providing "anytime, anywhere" access to information. This study introduces IoT with Kolb's learning style in order to enhance the learning experience especially for inclusive education for primary and secondary schools where delivery of knowledge is not limited to physical, cognitive disabilities, human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and of other forms of human differences. The article also emphasizes the role of learning style as a discovery process that incorporates the characteristics of problem solving and learning. Kolb's Learning Style was chosen as it is widely used in research and in practical information systems applications. A consistent pattern of finding emerges by using a combination of Kolb's learning style and internet of things where specific individual differences, learning approach differences and IoT application differences are taken as a main research framework. Further several suggestions were made by using this combination to IoT architecture and smart environment of internet of things. Based on these suggestions, future research directions are proposed.
