  • The purpose of this study was to identify the obstacles facing gifted students with learning disabilities (GSLDs) from the point of view of their teachers in the Makkah region and to find suggested solutions to overcome these obstacles. The study covered Makkah, Jeddah and Taif and used semi-structured interviews which included open-ended questions. The study findings indicated that there were several educational obstacles including the absence of adapted courses or specialized teachers for GSLDs category and the insufficient time for the students to express their talents. According to the findings, there were also societal obstacles including the society's failure to expect the presence of talents along with disabilities, or its denial or rejection of their talents in addition to ridiculing them. The findings also confirmed the existence of administrative obstacles including the lack of community partnership. There were also family obstacles such as the family's lack of encouragement for the students, and ignorance of the nature of GSLDs. The study came up with a number of solutions and proposals related to awareness, educational institutions, education and competitions for talented people with learning disabilities.

  • Distance learning for students with intellectual disabilities can prove beneficial, particularly if adjusted to their educational characteristics and needs. This study seeks to identify the views of parents living in Saudi Arabia, regarding the opportunities offered by distance learning for students with intellectual disabilities, alongside their challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research employed qualitative methods using semi-structured interviews with six parents of students with intellectual disabilities. The results revealed a number of both opportunities and challenges, including issues related to the family, in addition, the data highlighted difficulties related to the educational process (i.e. a lack of variety of educational methods) and technical issues related to access to the Internet and the insufficient computer skills of both teachers and students. The findings have several important implications for future practice, including the need for training workshops for parents concerning the online platform, as well as further research to determine students' perspectives of their experiences with distance learning.

  • In this study, a learning system based on smart learning is proposed so that students with learning disabilities can learn the effective use of meta-cognitive to solve problems arising during the learning process. The features of the proposed system are as follow. First, it is possible to achieve students' individualized learning by use of smart devices and smart education system. Second, it is possible to provide the constant repetition learning for students. Third, students can improve their achievement using the proposed app. The proposed smart education system using meta-cognition was applied to some learning disabilities students. The following results were obtained. First, the disabled students could have an interest in learning math and improve confidence. Second, the student's mathematical problem-solving skills have improved. Third, students' individualized and self-directed learning was achieved.

  • The object of our research is to design and to embody the learning system of numerical concept for the mathematic loaming disabilities. The existing system for the learning disabilities was a simple repeating practice system, repeating the same learning contents to obtain the skill, ignoring the learner's disability situation. This bears a problem that the interest and motivation in the learning media will reduce as the learning goes on. This loaming system offers the learning process of numerical concept by showing an animation file of a real life and offering a concrete mouse manipulating practice environment, so as to maintain the motivation of the learner, giving an instant compensation and feedback. If this system are used in directing the learning disabilities, it will help them to stay motivated and to create a positive teaming attitude by a variety level learning system, supporting suitable speed and learning contents for the learning disabilities individuals.

  • This paper concerns with the application of e-based education methodology for people with disabilities targeting to empower them. Instead of the classic educational support such as extended time to take exams, a reader and/or scribe to assist with exams and note taking services, we suggest the use of new pedagogy-the science of educations integrating the state-of-the art. In this paper, we introduce the definition of disabilities for the people who does not fully understand what they means, first, and then possible implementing tools which can empower them with accomplishments. Most of the research in the field of pedagogy has tended to concentrate on the behavioral aspects of instructional sciences. Therefore we would like to point out that we concentrate on the aspects of instructional science particularly related with people with disabilities.

Education and training technology is constantly evolving and growing. Because we continually meet the new and interesting advances in our world. The evolution in education and training at a distance can be characterized as a move from traditional learning to u-learning. This paper concerns with the application of u-based education methodology for people with disabilities targeting to empower them. Instead of the classic educational support such as extended time to take exams, a reader and/or scribe to assist with exams and note taking services. In this paper, we introduce the definition of inclusion and disabilities which does not been fully understood what they mean and then possible implementing materials which can empower the students with disabilities with accomplishments. • The Korean ministry of education has adopted an educational policy about digital textbooks at K-12 schools since 2018, in order to provide students with individualized learning contents and activities. However, digital textbooks has been yet prepared and delivered for the students with disabilities in the inclusive education. This study aims to develop the guidelines on digital textbooks for students with disabilities applying universal design for learning, recognizing the requirements for the digital textbooks which can be utilized in the K-12 inclusive classrooms for diverse students. In this respect, guidelines on digital textbooks were developed based on previous studies and cases. The first draft of guidelines were reviewed with two rounds of the delphi methods with special teachers. In addition, scenarios were developed, representing the rich educational contexts with digital textbooks applying the guidelines in a practical way for students with 4 types of disabilities. This study can contribute to establishing educational policies and environments related to the digital textbook development and dissemination for students with disabilities.

  • This study examined whether the integrated education social studies textbooks developed for students with disabilities were properly implemented in terms of universal design for learning. For analysis, "Teaching and learning materials for inclusive education of students with disabilities: grade 3~6 social studies textbooks", which were instructional adaptation, were selected for students with disabilities who are unable to learn the contents of general textbooks for the 3rd to 6th grade of the elementary school social course in the 2015 revised curriculum. The social curriculum grades are composed of 20 units, including general public, geography and history. The content analysis standard was based on detailed items of 9 definitions according to the 3 principles of UDL presented in CAST (2018). Overall, the aspect of providing multiple means of action and expression was the most frequently observed, followed by providing multiple means of representation and providing multiple means of engagement. Special education teachers and textbook developers can use these results as a resource for designing curricula and lessons for students with disabilities in the inclusive classroom.
