This study examined the risk of accidents when handling hazardous materials in hazardous materials storage facilities without safety facilities. In the case of illegal dangerous cargo containers, the burning rate is very fast in the case of fire, which leads to explosions, that are damaging and difficult to control. In addition, accidents that occur in flammable liquid hazardous materials are caused mostly by accidents that occur in the space due to leakage. Therefore, the variables that affect these accidents were derived and the influence of these variables was investigated. Numerical and computational fluid dynamics programs were used to obtain the following final results. First, when a flammable liquid leaks into a specific space, it is influenced by temperature and relative humidity until a certain concentration (lower limit of combustion) is reached. In the case of temperature, it was found that the reaching time was shorter than the flash point In addition, the effect of variables on pool fire accidents of leakage tanks is somewhat different, but the variables that have the largest influence are the wind speed. Therefore, it is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data for similar numerical analysis and it will provide useful numerical information about the accidental leakage of hazardous materials under various research conditions.
Production of iodine-131 by neutron activation of tellurium in tellurium dioxide ($TeO_2$) material requires a target that meets the safety requirements. In a radiopharmaceutical production unit, a new lid for a can was designed, which permits tight sealing of the target by using tungsten inert gaswelding. The leakage rate of all prepared targets was assessed using a helium mass spectrometer. The accepted leakage rate is ${\leq}10^{-4}mbr.L/s$, according to the approved safety report related to iodine-131 production in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor (TRIGA: Training, Research, Isotopes, General Atomics). To confirm the resistance of the new design to the irradiation conditions in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor's central thimble, a study of heat effect on the sealed targets for 7 hours in an oven was conducted and the leakage rates were evaluated. The results show that the tightness of the targets is ensured up to $600^{\circ}C$ with the appearance of deformations on lids beyond $450^{\circ}C$. The study of heat transfer through the target was conducted by adopting a one-dimensional approximation, under consideration of the three transfer modes-convection, conduction, and radiation. The quantities of heat generated by gamma and neutron heating were calculated by a validated computational model for the neutronic simulation of the TRIGA Mark II research reactor using the Monte Carlo N-Particle transport code. Using the heat transfer equations according to the three modes of heat transfer, the thermal study of I-131 production by irradiation of the target in the central thimble showed that the temperatures of materials do not exceed the corresponding melting points. To validate this new design, several targets have been irradiated in the central thimble according to a preplanned irradiation program, going from4 hours of irradiation at a power level of 0.5MWup to 35 hours (7 h/d for 5 days a week) at 1.5MW. The results showthat the irradiated targets are tight because no iodine-131 was released in the atmosphere of the reactor building and in the reactor cooling water of the primary circuit.

Purpose : Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy(VMAT) has the advantage of uniformly and precisely irradiating the tumor to the shape of the tumor while reducing the risk of radiation damage to normal tissues. such as brain cancer, head and neck cancer and prostate cancer, It is being used for treatment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of the Jaw-Tracking technique(JTT) in VMAT for brain and head and neck cancer. Materials and Methods : We selected eight patients with brain and head and neck cancer(4 Brain, 4 head and neck) who were treated with the VMAT treatment technique. Contouring information of the patient's tumor and normal organ was fused to the Rando phantom using the deformable registration of Velocity(Varian, USA). A treatment plan was developed using the Varian Eclipse(ver 15.5, Varian, USA) with the same patient actual beam parameters except for the use of jaw-tracking. As the evaluation index, the maximum dose and mean dose of target and OAR were compared and a portal dosimetry was performed for the treatment plan verification. Results : When using JTT, the relative dose of OAR decreased by 5.24 % and the maximum dose by 7.05 %, respectively, compared with the Static-Jaw technique(SJT). In the various OARs, the mean dose and maximum dose reduction ranges ranged from 0.01 to 3.16 Gy and from 0.12 to 6.27 Gy, respectively. In the case of the target, the maximum dose of GTV, CTV, PTV decreased by 0.17 %, 0.43 %, and 0.37 % in JTT, and the mean dose decreased by 0.24 %, 0.47 % and 0.47 %, respectively. Gamma analysis The JTT and SJT passing rates were $98{\pm}1.73%$ and $97{\pm}1.83%$ on the basis of 3 % / 3 mm, respectively. Comparing the doses of all OARs applied to the experiment, it was found that the use of JTT resulted in a significant decrease in dose due to additional jaw shielding besides MLC than SJT. Conclusion : In radiation therapy using VMAT treatment plan, we can apply JTT in the case of adjacent tumor and normal organs such as brain cancer and head and neck cancer, and in radiotherapy required large field and high energy caused increase leakage dose through MLC. It is considered that the target dose of PTV can be increased by lowering the dose of normal tissue surrounding the tumor.
Regional torrential rains in summer this year due to abnormal climate changes compared to last year, have been frequent. Since Typhoon Rusa and Typhoon Maemi resulted in major damage to railroad facilities in 2002 and 2003 consecutively, problems with abnormal climate changes became a global problem including railroad and floods and droughts around the globe, heavy snow and winter warming have been repeated until now. Serious problem of radiation leakage in Fukushima nuclear power plant by the Tsunami due to 9.0-scale earthquake, this year in March, in northeastern Japan happened, and has given an impact on the life of Japanese citizens and industries and has also influenced on Korean. This shows how important to secure and to protect major national facilities including railroad structures to natural disasters such as earthquake. Therefore, we will briefly discuss about technologies for securing and protecting railroad structures to earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters.
The effects of intrinsic and extrinsic gettering on the formation of microdefects in the wafer and on the electrical performance at near-surfaces of three different oxygen-bearing Czochralski silicon single crystal wafers were investigated by varying the combinations of the pre-heat treatments and the phosphorus diffusion through the back-surface of the wafers. The wafers which had less than 10.9 ppma of oxygen formed no gettering zones irrespective of any pre-heat treatments, while the wafers which had more than 14.1 ppma of oxygen and were treated by Low+High pre-heat treatments generated the gettering zone comprising oxygen precipitates, staking faults, and dislocation loops. The effects of extrinsic gettering by phosphorus diffusion were evident in all samples such that the minority carrier lifetimes were increased and junction leakage currents were decreased. However, the total gettering effects among the different pre-heat treatments did not necessarily correspond to the gettering structure revealed by synchrotron radiation section topograph.

The hydrodynamic problem is treated here when a pressurized bag is submerged partially in the water and the end points of it oscillate. SES(Surface Effect Ship) has a bag filled with pressurized air at the stern in order to prevent the air leakage, and the pitch motion of SES is largely affected by the hydrodynamic force of the bag. The shape of a bag can be determined with the pressure difference between inside and outside. Once the hydrodynamic pressure is given, the shape of a bag can be obtained, however in order to calculate the hydrodynamic pressure we should know the shape change of the bag, and vice versa. Therefore the type of boundary condition on the surface of a bag is a moving boundary like a free surface boundary. The present paper describes the formulation of this problem and treats a linearized problem. The computations of the radiation problem for an oscillating bag are shown in comparison with the case that the bag is treated as a rigid body. The hydrodynamic forces are calculated for various values of the pressure inside the bag and the submerged depth.

The purpose of this reserch is to establish the new design technology for microwave Coplanar structure. The components in microwave circuit are classified to transmission devices, EM devices, and quasi-TEM devices. After design of these devices, we analyzed these CPWs electromagnetically using FDTD method, and suggested optimum CPW structure. In oder to realize a CPW module up to 30 GHz-100 GHz band, we research on a technology of 3-dimensional microwave CPW, and GaAs substrate with Si layer for ohmic loss. As a result this research, we suppressed the leakage, resonance, coupling, and radiation of CPW EMI, and improved resonance quality of CPW.
Influences of carbon black contents on the tracking resistance, tan $\delta$ and dielectric constant volume resistivity and dielectric strength of EPDM compounds before and after a exposure to UV radiation were investigated. Carbon black content up to 1.5 phr have a positive effect to improve the resistance to tracking and erosion, since carbon black diminish the leakage current. Results from the study reveal that both tan $\delta$ and dielectric constant volume resistivity and dielectric strength are unaffected by adding of carbon black up to 2.0 phr and carbon black have a significant effect to suppress the photo-degradation of EPDM compounds.
5 MeV proton-irradiation with total dose of $10^{15}/cm^2$ was performed on AlGaN/GaN-on-Si high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with various gate metals including Ni, TaN, W, and TiN to investigate the degradation characteristics. The positive shift of pinch-off voltage and the reduction of on-current were observed from irradiated HEMTs regardless of a type of gate materials. Hall and transmission line measurements revealed the reduction of carrier mobility and sheet charge concentration due to displacement damage by proton irradiation. The shift of pinch-off voltage was dependent on Schottky barrier heights of gate metals. Gate leakage and capacitance-voltage characteristics did not show any significant degradation demonstrating the superior radiation hardness of Schottky gate contacts on GaN.
