New layout methods for implementing MOS switches of ultra low channel resistance are presented. These area-effective layout methods include the waffle structure, zipper structure, star zag structure and fingered waffle structure. The design equations for these new layout structures are analyzed. The area-effectiveness of these structures is compared with that of the conventional alternating bar structure. MOS switches of the waffle structure were fabricated using a standard 0.25um CMOS process. The experimental characterization results of the fabricated MOS switches are presented. The analytical comparison and experimental results show that area reductions over 40% are achievable with the new structures.

In this paper, a layout-based CMOS RF model for RFIC's including the capacitance effect, the skin effect, and the proximity effect between metal lines on the Si surface is proposed for the first time for accurately predicting the RF behavior of CMOS devices. With these RF effects, the RF equivalent circuit model based on the layout of the multi-finger gate transistor is presented. The capacitances between metal lines on the Si surface are modeled with the layout. And the skin effect is modeled to the equivalent ladder circuit of metal line. The proximity effect is modeled by adding the mutual inductance between cross-coupled inductances in the ladder circuit representation. Compared to the BSIM 3v3 and other models, the proposed RF model shows better agreements with the measured data and shows well the frequency dependent behavior of devices in GHz ranges.

Semiconductor wafer fabrication is a business of high capital investment and fast changing nature. To be competitive, the production in a fab needs to be effectively planned and scheduled starting from the ramping up phase, so that the business goals such as on-time delivery, high output volume and effective use of capital intensive equipment can be achieved. In this paper, we propose Stand Alone layout and In-Line layout are analyzed and compared while varying number of device variable changes. The comparison is performed through simulation using ProSys; a window 98 based discrete system simulation software, as a tool for comparing performance of two proposed layouts. The comparison demonstrates that when the number of device variable change is small, In-Line layout is more efficient in terms of production quantity. However, as the number of device variable change is more than 14 titles, Stand Alone layout prevails over In-Line layout.
The basic requirements to improve the joints quality of tube-to-tubesheet for heat exchangers are to obtain high residual contact pressures between the tubes and the tubesheet as well as low residual stresses in the transition zone of the tubes. The residual contact pressures and residual stresses which govern the joint quality are influenced by parameters such as material properties, geometric dimension of tube and tubesheet and expansion pressures. There are two types of tube layout patterns, triangular and square, which are frequently used for heat exchangers. The purpose of the present work is to examine the superior tube layout patterns considering the joints quality by comparing numerical results from sensitivity analyses which were performed for both of tube layout patterns.
In order to design progressive die many processes are needed and it takes a lot of time to get a final product. In this study, we reduced design processes by using reverse engineering and studied on strip layout design which is the core part of die design. And we got a optimized strip layout design by CimatronE Die Design which is the 3D design program. In this strip layout design we obtained the more effective methode by using reverse engineering.
This study presents a plant concept design for a smart factory which is mainly targeted to machine airplane parts. The plant layout is based on the TOC-DBR approach together with autonomous distributed factory control considered, while discrete event simulation is also performed in order to validate its layout. The resulting layout and its procedure turn out to be quite a useful guideline in realizing those smart factories especially for machining-oriented manufacturing industries.
A Problem of relevant interest to some industries is that of obtaining optimum two-dimensional layout. To solve this provlem, one is given a number of rectangular sheets and an order for a specified number of each of certain types of two-dimensional regular and irregular shapes. The aim is to cut the the shapes out of the sheets in such a way as to minimize the amount of waste produced. A DCS (Distributed Control System) is an integrated system which applies the decentralization concept to a control system handling both sequential and analog control. A DCS performs many operations such as data gathering, data processing, data storing and monitoring the operatin conditions for the operator. IN this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based on rotation parameters from which the best pattern of layout is found as well as a layout method for better performance time. A DCS for the plate cutting process system, which is performed by a virtual system, is also identified.
The purpose of this study is to describe the planning and applied safety facility layout for a technology laboratory in a middle school. A technological teaching facility has its essential purpose in meeting students' needs and achieving educational objectives efficiently and effectively. Practice-related appliances were selected through investigation of the current middle school laboratory, and analysis of the technology textbooks of the 7th curriculum. Laboratory layout was achieved with consideration of the teacher's and students need of safety and close proximity to laboratory facilities and equipment. Our recommendation takes the SLP survey results into consideration. The results of this study are as follows: The following floor plan is recommended. The facility layout will insure that students are able to work safely, in full view of academic instructors. Students will have easy access to all equipment due to the efficient floor plan and logical sequencing of equipment.
In this paper, optimal spot weld layout design of the shock tower structure is performed for increasing fatigue life of spot weld and fatigue life of shock tower simultaneously. To predict the fatigue life, linear static analysis is conducted then fatigue analysis is performed by applying random vibration load. To optimize the spot weld layout, design variables that have an effect on spot weld fatigue life are selected. Based on the DOE table, spot weld fatigue analysis is conducted. Finally, response surface model is made from fatigue analysis results and optimized spot weld layout model which increases fatigue life of sport weld and fatigue life of shock tower is determined.
This paper presents an operation sequence-based approach for determining machine cell layout in a cellular manufacturing environment. The proposed model considers the sequence of operations in evaluating the intercell and intracell movements. In this paper, design of cellular layout has an objective of minimization of total material flow among facilities, where the total material flow is defined as a weighted sum of both intercell and intracell part movements. The proposed algorithm is developed by using genetic algorithm and can be used to design an optimal cellular layout which can cope with changes of shop floor situation by considering constraints such as the number of machine cells and the number of machines in a machine cell.
