  • This paper deals with testing the equality of the coefficients of variation in two inverse Gaussian populations. The likelihood ratio, Lagrange-multiplier and Wald tests are presented. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to compare the powers of these tests. In a simulation study, the likelihood ratio test appears to be consistently more powerful than the Lagrange-multiplier and Wald tests when sample size is small. The powers of all the tests tend to be similar when sample size increases.

  • This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients and deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In this paper, the accuracy of the Block Pulse series coefficients derived by using the Lagrange second order interpolation polynomial is approved by the mathematical method.

  • 9 GPS data with a 30 second sampling rate were extracted from the GPS raw data that recorded with 1 second interval for interpolation. 9 GPS data were interpolated using lagrange interpolation method and compared to the GPS raw data. Using a 9th-order interpolation, error of interpolated code data were within 0.5m.

  • Modified Lagrange functional for solving an elastic problem with a crack is considered. Two formulations of a crack problem are investigated. The first formulation concerns a problem where a crack extending to the outer boundary of the domain. In the second formulation, we consider a problem with an internal crack. Duality ratio is established for initial and dual problem in both cases.

  • By established a Banach space with the Hausdorff distance, we introduce the alternative fixed-point theorem to explore the existence and uniqueness of a fixed subset of Y and investigate the stability of set-valued Euler-Lagrange functional equations in this space. Some properties of the Hausdorff distance are furthermore explored by a short and simple way.

  • For any fixed integers k, l with kl(l - 1) ≠ 0, we establish the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of an Euler-Lagrange quadratic functional equation f(kx + ly) + f(kx - ly) + 2(l - 1)[k2f(x) - lf(y)] = l[f(kx + y) + f(kx - y)] in normed spaces and in non-Archimedean spaces, respectively.

  • This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients, deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices and generalizing the integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In order to apply the Block Pulse function technique to the problems of state estimation or parameter identification more efficiently, it is necessary to find the more exact value of the Block Pulse series coefficients and integral operational matrices. This paper presents the method for improving the accuracy of the Block Pulse series coefficients and derives the related integration operational matrices and generalized integration operational matrix by using the Lagrange second order interpolation polynomial.

  • Effect of mean stress on the fatigue life of natural rubber for engine mount was investigated. Fatigue damage parameter based on the maximum Green-Lagrange strain was employed to account for the effect of mean stress. A procedure to predict the fatigue life of rubber components based on the maximum Green-Lagrange strain method was proposed. Nonlinear finite element analysis and fatigue test of jang-gu shape specimen were conducted to predict the fatigue life of engine mount. Predicted fatigue lives have a good agreement with tested lives within a factor of 3.
